Overall great brunch place . They do like to rush you though
Outstanding food for our brunch visit. Service was fast. Food arrived a few minutes after the coffee. Bright interior with large windows. Highly recommend making reservations
Always a great time there. Amazing food, exceptional service, great drinks and a chic atmosphere!
Always the best for brunch
Good as usual
Two of my very close friends and I wanted to dine out this past Friday night before catching a late night flick, so I got on OpenTable and searched for a restaurant that accepted a late night reservation but also had a promising dinner menu and wasn’t fast food or corporate-guided. So I came across this restaurant and decided we would dine here at 44 & X.
I MADE A GREAT CALL!
We arrived about 15 minutes prior to our initial reservation and were greeted as soon as we walked in. The Front of House staff treated us very, very well and were very attentive and friendly.
Our bottled water was brought to my table immediately after we were sat (as I request on OpenTable anytime I dine out). Now our server was Bruno and he was fantastic; very pleasing, very professional and definitely took great care of us—not to mention, he is a very handsome looking man.
We enjoyed basic libations, but they were mixed very well—and the food—the food was truly excellent! The portions were great and so was the freshness and warmness to our food which we definitely appreciated. Each of our desired entrees had such great flavor and tenderness, and overall, we were very impressed by the food. By the end of our meals, I didn’t even feel stuffed, I felt completely content, wish is perfection when dining out. We passed on dessert, but I will most definitely return to this establishment and may even bring my mother here as well.
Muchas gracias Bruno, I’ll be returning and requesting your service again and thank you to the entire staff that took care of us as well. Well done 44 & X!
Loved the place. Great food. Great menu...want to try everything!
Very disappointing. My son ordered a steak done medium. It was rare so we sent it back and by the time it arrived (20 minutes later) the rest of the food was cold. The restaurant is SO loud that we had to sit next to each other instead of across from one another. The service was cold and unapologetic. The food was less than average but also quite expensive. We will not be returning.
Crab fritter off the charts as well as a fantastic fillet
Great food and service. I was only sorry that I could only try one dish! I will be coming back for more.
I heard such good things about this place so I was excited to finally try. I don’t even think introduced himself or asked how we were. I don’t think he even ever smiled or attempted to! We started with a Mediterranean salad which I did really like but the entree options were both just okay. I had the sea bass and my friend had the halibut. They were good but nothing that I felt would be worth dining here again.
The food and service were wonderful, but he tables for two were much too close together! There was this long row of tables for two along the window with about an inch of space between our table and table to the left and right of us. It was like eating in a dining hall! In order for me to get to my seat, the person who seated us had to pull the table all the way out and then push it back in after I sat down.
Loved the service and the food!! Everyone there was super friendly and my meal was delicious.
This restaurant is a treasure! From the moment you walk into the restaurant, you feel as if you are being welcomed home. The only comment I would have would be for them to offer a few more vegan options, but otherwise, I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.
i have been going to the place for many years
just a great place to hang out - you presure great food
location amazing !!
again this comming saturday party of 6 rocking birthday party -
Always a wonderful choice. Excellent food and service
Sunday (late) brunch before a matinee. Seated about 15 minutes after our reservation time. Food was excellent. Service was good. Did not feel rushed despite the fact that they were very busy. A little awkward if you have to wait - only place to stand is by the restroom.
From start to finish perfect dining experience! One of my fave places now in nyc for fresh delicious food. The owner is welcoming and Bruno the best waiter! My fave meals are the salmon tartar, chopped salad, and herb eggs with cheese grits. Can’t wait to try something else :)
We were here for brunch. Everything about this establishment was perfect - the food/drinks, the service, the location. My roommates and I are new to the area so we're hoping to try a number of different brunch places... having said, we'll definitely be back and they definitely set a HIGH bar.
I love this restaurant. The service is excellent and food always delicious and beautifully presented. They are so warm and welcoming!!
Fabulous dinner; terrific service. The owner talked with us personally and thanked us for coming.
Great food and service, but the tables are ridiculously crammed literally 1” apart. If they were any closer, those at the adjacent table would be sitting on your lap!
Great atmosphere with incredible food and drinks! I definitely recommend to anyone visiting New York! Wonderful service as well.
Loved the Food Service was Great
Definitely will be back!
The food was wonderful!
I love the food at 44 & X but wish they would do something about the noise level. There are so many ways a restaurant can dampen sounds but unfortunately don't always choose to do so. The cacophony of sounds in this restaurant can be almost deafening. That said, my dining partner and I each had the spinach, mushroom and goat cheese omelette. I like mine well done and it was cooked to perfection. Goat cheese is also very well proportioned so that you get a taste of it in every bite.
Great food, service friendly & helpful. Beautiful spot- very clean
My go to place when hitting NYC for theatre.
The food was very good. They restaurant is quite crowded, with tables so close together someone had to get up at the next table so we could walk out after dinner. It serves a theater crowd and did a good job of getting people out on time.
Lovely atmosphere. Professional and informative staff. Food cooked to perfection. Perfect date night spot.
This place is fantastic. Best before theatre dining in the city. Great at working w people w allergies too
Have been to 44&X multiple times and always tell friends about the amazing food!
Lovely service. Food excellent. Had been there before and invited friends who all loved their food. A little pricey but worth it!
Have been here many times. Always a good experience. Friendly and helpful staff and great food.
One of my favorite places in NYC for lunch and after work drinks (dinner great too!) Excellent food, professional and friendly staff and a beautiful place (their bathroom is an experience lol!) 6 stars!!
Wonderful food, great atmosphere, excellent service. Great restaurant to go pretheater or for a quite place for leisurely lunch or dinner. Nice menu with unique options. Highly recommend!
Late for reservation but they were very accommodating. The filet mignon was excellent and the martinis are good-sized. Would definitely go back and try other items from the menu, which has nice variety.
Beautifully set up space; friendly staff; great food. Specialty cocktails were tasty (some whiskey, champagne concoction was excellent). A little pricey - especially for the area; but hey, HK is moving up I suppose!
I worked here in the kitchen way back in 03-04. I enjoyed working for Bruce and the staff and my kitchen crew. The food was good back then, but I never had the chance to experience it as a guest until tonight. We had reservations, we were warmly greeted, and sat right away. The tables can be small, but they still are comfortable and the wall of windows draws the streets into the warmly lit and buzzing dining room. We had the blue crab fritter. It was filled with very fresh crab meat, and the tomato tarragon fondue was a great contrast. I recognized two menu staples and decided we should go for them- the short ribs and the turkey meatloaf
