The ambiance is nice a bright for a brunch place. The food was really good. I would specifically recommend trying the Hazelnut Brioche French Toast. One of the best French roasts I have ever had! Can’t wait to come back here for brunch again!
Awesome of every dish. The raviolo with the crawfish, I would have eaten every day. Thanks for the meal Chef! And staff as well.
Wonderful meal every dish was great and the service was impeccable we loved the restaurant and will return next time we visit nyc
Family was visiting from London and we chose 44 & X. All the staff are beauties - male models or something but were fantastic. Food and drinks were yummy and I recommend the fillet, cherry tart, and spanks to keep it hidden 😊
This upscale gem on 10th Avenue is a great find. The food is delicious as well as beautifully presented. Turkey mushroom meatloaf is something I would never think to order, but it smelled so good at the table next to me that I went for it. Wow! Fantastic. The Mediterranean Chop Salad and the Salmon Tartar were also great.
This is s little pricey but I would highly recommend.
Sitting outside is, of course, a little loud from the traffic, but it’s great to take advantage of the nice weather.
Service was warm and attentive
This restaurant was recommended by a stranger in the neighborhood who we asked for a recommendation. What a wonderful surprise. We dined outside. My friend and I agreed that the salmon we ate was about the most delicious we’ve ever had.
The waiter was professional, but friendly.
We will return soon as we didn’t have time to have dessert.
This has become our go to place for birthday lunches. Food is always excellent. The space is lovely and the service is great.
Start with the owners who will meet and great you, make you feel welcome and you will want to dine here. The food was all very good, as were their specialty drinks. The atmosphere is open, not crowded. Nice outdoor seating, which, we will do on our next visit. There will be a next visit.
Always good !!
The service matches the food....WONDERFUL!
Food was amazing. Service was fast send the wait staff were friendly. If you're there for brunch, get the French toast... amazing!
Rather noisy and we were squished at a table in the back. My husband commented that his granola bowl should have been more plentiful for the price. However, my scrambled eggs with mushrooms, etc., was more than enough. Service was ok
Whenever I visit NYC, I make it a point to go to 44 & X at least once. The service is phenomenal, the food is delicious, and the ambiance is great! This past Sunday I enjoyed Ethel Mermosas and the hazelnut brioche French toast with raspberry compote and smoked Irish bacon. Superb! I recommend 44 & X when you’re in town. You’ll love it!
Food and service were awesome! We will definitely visit again!
Flawless! That says it all! From the ambiance to the food there was not one thing that was not perfection and I cannot say enough about our server Bruno! His recommendations were divine, his charm incredible and his humor contagious! A spectacular meal and experience throughout!
Excellent for brunch
sat outside, service was good and the entire meal enjoyable
I live in the neighborhood and frequent this restaurant and generally love it. This time was challenging however. We went with a friend that is vegan and before sitting down, confirmed with a waiter, who confirmed with the kitchen that there were vegan options. We were told the waffles, pancakes and french toast were all vegan and that they could make avocado toast as an additional option as well. Once we sat down, ordered coffee and drinks, we learned that NOTHING was in fact Vegan but at this point it was too late to choose an alternative restaurant. At one point we were offered huevos rancheros as a vegan option? Really? Eggs? When we asked about the avocado toast option, the waiter came out with one piece of lightly toasted bread and 4 small slices of avocado. It was embarrassing especially since one of us ordered the quesadilla which was mounded with guacamole and pico di quillo. I realize that dining with vegans can be a pain but I really expected more from one of may neighborhood favorites.
Inattentive and unsophisticated service. The hamachi appetizer did not smell fresh. The menu is extensive, which suggests the kitchen is trying to do too many things, rather than focus one a few great things. The quality of the dishes reflects this. Overpriced.
My best pre theater restaurant now. Food is flavorful, fresh, properly cooked, lots of fish and meat and veggie selections. Low salt but flavorful. Very responsive staff.
While the Mediterranean salad was delicious, as usual, the spring pea with carrot soup was a decided bust. It had no pea taste whatsoever. I thought I was eating a watery gruel. Normally, I love 44 X, but this time it just didn't pass muster because of the soup.
This is one of my favorite neighborhood places for lunch - it's not cheap, but it's great food, served beautifully, and just a lovely place to spend an afternoon.
Hadn't been in a while, but was happy to see it is every bit as good as I remembered.
This is still one of our favorite Far West restaurants. The eclectic menu is great fun. The bar is fabulous. And the food is really terrific. Thoughtful and creative kitchen. We love the wait staff, too. And how about cherry pie a la mode for dessert?
This is a lovely restaurant with original and excellent food. The service always has a glitch. This time it was minor.
Good food and delightful service. The noise level made conversation a bit difficult but I will definitely keep dining there. Perfect pre-Signature Theater.
Always delicious food in a lively atmosphere. Had the beet salad which was fresh and colorful. The special
Dinner or brunch!!!
Came for dinner pre theater & highly recommend the warm orange dusted lobster dish but does need extra lobster in my opinion. Service was outstanding!!! Would most definitely return!!!! I’ve been here for brunch in the past...also excellent!!
Went for a lunch meeting so a quieter time of day, which was great to facilitate conversation. Service and food was outstanding.
Always fabulous food with friendly and fabulous service. I always love eating at 44&X. It feels like a small vacation not just a meal. Perfect for before or after theater or just a wonderful meal.
Excellent service, food is always fantastic. We have never been disappointed with any dish we’ve ordered. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends without hesitation. We are looking forward to trying new dishes at 44 /X the next time we’re in NYC.
Awful! Food is bland! Ordered their special of lobster bisque soup. They should have offered a grilled cheese sandwich because it was basically tomato soup. My mom ordered the pistachio crusted tilapia. It was tasteless. The waiter also came over and said “oh that fish doesn’t look great,” and then did NOTHING about it. The bland, tasteless and boring food also took over an hour to come out. This place is appealing because of the proximity to the theater district, but go have a slice of pizza instead. You will be happier.
The server was pleasant but was woefully lost in terms of productive table service.
This is my “go to” brunch spot when I come to NYC to see a matinee!
Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was terrible. My mom ordered her pancakes with no sausage and with syrup on side. It came with the sausage and syrup on the side. When we finally found our server, more than 10 minutes after we were served and we told him, he just apologized but offered nothing to make it better. It was also difficult to find server to get drinks refilled.
Very good brunch and service. Eggs cooked to perfection. I will return.
The menu is extensive and very ambitious but taste wise a lot of it was bland. Beet salad very good. Caesar average; very lemony. Bf liked halibut. Soft shell crab special essentially tasteless. The air conditioning blowing on the tables on the right side in front of the windows is a real problem. Every time it kicked on I had to put on my coat and close it up to my neck.
Casual dining at the finest level. Excellent food, excellent service, we would definitely recommend this restaurant to family, and friends.
Great service, great food, great location and not too noisy.
They make the absolute best mac & cheese I've had anywhere in NYC!
