TOO much time between the 10 course experience!!!!!
Food was delicious, service was very slow.
I had higher expectations for a restaurant currently being considered for a 3rd star. The service did not ask (when glass was clearly empty) if another drink was desired. No introduction of tasting pairing options. Food was adequate but not much inspiration/innovation to excite me.
Everything was going well until the 6th course when my wife (who I joke is a bean pole and has the appetite of a bird) said to me, “I’m starving!”
The bare minimum standard for eating at a restaurant is to walk away satisfied - not stuffed - but at least satisfied. That goes for a Michelin started restaurant too.
After making it clear to the waiter we were disappointed we made our way to the door. When we explained our disappointment again to the front of house staff and joked that we were going to shake shake after we left, they joked back that “next time” we should try the burger that they serve in their bar.
What a slap In the face. Had they offered to cook us a burger they actually could have turned a bad night into a great night. Instead they just laughed it off.
And it wasn’t just us who felt this way. The couple next to us heard our joke about shake shake and joked with us that they were on their way to “the wiener circle”. They felt the exact same way we did.
The young kid that showed us to our table also spilled a glass of Prosecco all over himself and us when seating us. That stuff happens, but coupled with the food and insensitivity from the front staff I just had to mention.
On the plus side the wine was incredible as was the sommelier. Was surprised to see so many organics on the menus. We went with the pairing but could have our pick of many bottle under $100 which is a great value for this type of restaurant.
The food was also top notch. Just not nearly enough of it. We thought the portion sizes were fine in the beginning...that it would be death by a thousand cuts...but in the end we walked out hungry.
We wanted more of your amazing food.
You left us wanting more, but we won’t be returning nor recommending.
Acadia is more than a meal, it is a complete sensory experience. The food is selected, prepared and presented with incredible care. Every bite it to be savored. The only match to the food, is the service; incredibly professional and informative. This is a Chicago dining experience not to be missed.
Lovely and friendly staff!
Wonderful food and service. 10 courses, but just the right amount of food for a leisurely dinner.
Everything was perfect. Impeccable service and Food.
Un établissement haut de gamme, la nourriture est parfaite, tout est pensé et orchestré pour nous faire passer une soirée inoubliable. Le staff est remarquable, hyper attentionné et très professionnel.
Awesome! Was a wonderful experience
Having tried many Michelin starred restaurants around the world we came away from Acadia very disappointed. The food was nice but we were not blown away with different tastes that we would have expected. It started well with a crab tart with jalepeno. The casing was light and crisp and the filling was tasty but no hint of jalepeno, unfortunately it tappered off from there. The service was poor, having to wait and prompt several time for our wine to be topped up and water to be refilled was disappointing. We also had to wait a long time between a course, we don’t like to be rushed but when the course is a bite there is no need to wait over 25 mins. Guests came in over an hour after us and ended up a course ahead of us. When the tip is added for you to a large bill we expect the service to be on par and sadly this was not.
Amazing food, and overall an excellent experience.
21% Gratuity without guests’ permission, missing one dish.
The pescatarian tasting menu was so so. One of the dish was like Japanese Sunomono with Enoki mushrooms and kelp. The chef’s recommendation was to drink the broth after finishing the mushrooms. I know the Japanese food extremely well as I’ve lived there. Drinking the broth of Sunomono was like so rediscutons. First of all, the broth was too strong as as it was made like Japanese like sunomono. When I compare other French chefs in France and US such as Jean George, it was not worth in that much price.
The food was exquisite and the presentation was impeccable. The seafood was very fresh and the wine pairing was generous. We have been to a lot of Michelin restaurants and were very impressed with this one. Thank you, chef McCaskey!
The service and the presentation of food is very poor, and the portion of the food should be little bit larger. And I do not know why this restaurant deserves Michelin 2 stars.
One of the best meals of my life. Top to bottom, cocktails were excellent also.
Delicious and inventive food, inspired wine pairings, and service that redefines outstanding.
Great food. The service was exceptional. Very interesting flavors. The wine pairing was on the spot. Highly recommended.
ate here on Saturday 2/16. I ordered their specialty Valentine’s Day tasting menu.
The tasting menu costs $115 for 5 courses which is more expensive per course than the 10 course tasting menu offered all the time. With the specialty menu being more expensive we expected the courses to be even more exciting and fulfilling. Instead we were rushed through each course at what seemed to be a way to pump us in and out.
Our final primary course of steak was what really pushed us over the edge and upset us. The course calls for a bacon wrapped sirloin with leek, robuchon potatoes and creamy kale. No leek was on our dish to start with, it was replaced with a baby carrot instead. Both the potato and baby carrot were used identically on the dish prior. This felt extremely lazy. For only 5 courses to wow a customer and you chose to repeat ingredients several times. We felt the lack of attention to that detail on a more expensive and smaller menu was shocking. On top of all this, on one of our steaks the bacon was undercooked, rubbery, and chewy. In the picture below is the dish, hard to believe that this was served in two star michelin restaurant looks a lot more like a middle of the ground steakhouse dish.
We had such excitement and expectations going into our first two michelin star experience. We left this dinner feeling scammed by the restaurant who was taking advantage of people wanting to splurge for a special occasion. Never have a felt like I was taken advantage of at a michelin restaurant let alone a 2 star michelin restaurant.
Would personally recommend Elske or Topolobampo if you’re in Chicago looking for an outstanding tasting menu.
Nothing really wow'd me, it was very well done but not as innovative as I would've hoped.
5 year wedding anniversary
Celebrated our anniversary and had a spectacular meal with superb wine pairings an unparalleled service.
We absolutely loved our experience at Acadia. The food is unique and the waiting staff is impeccably polite
Winter menus started out amazingly delish but once potato hoshposh was served something was off. Wagu beef was to fatty.
Unreal versions of super relatable dishes with great stories behind them. Perfect mix of technique and creativity but all in service of flavor and what’s best for the dish, never for show.
2 stars is not enough
It was such an awesome experience ,I took my daughter for her birthday. The entire wait staff was in point, such great service. If course the food was the main star me an my daughter were over whelmed best dining experience ever!!
The tasting menu was wonderful. We also enjoyed the wine pairings that went along with it. Every course was delicious. There were no misses. Can't wait to go back!
Timing of when food came out was inconsistent. Not as quiet as I expected for a 2 star Michelin food. Food was amazing though.
With exceptional service and phenomenal food I can not recommend Acadia highly enough.
unique food and beautiful presentation.
A bit disappointed the table wasn't ready on time and had to wait at bar
Amazing food and service, horrendous music selection (Red Hot Chili Peppers? Seriously?)
Belle expérience gustative, parfois déroutante (peut-être trop sur les desserts)
Seule proposition en menu dégustation 10 plats (petites portions).
Beaucoup de créativité sur les gouts, certains excellents, d'autres audacieux mais a à affiner.
Excellent service digne 3*
Salle trop "froide" à notre gout, pas assez cosi.
A culinary journey featuring delectable flavors, textures, and techniques. Our main server Michael was a pleasure to dine with.
Service was superb! Food was unquestionably delicious. I’m going to send anyone who asks here.
Outstanding. Deserving of another Michelin star. Service was better than 11 Madison Park. Food was like a party in ones mouth. Will return.
Amazingly well thought out and inspiring menu, every single dish in the tasting menu was a delight. Great service and ambience as well.
Overall a good fine dining experience, the only flaw was the Chinese inspired duck with XO sauce... Chinese taste buds are very demanding when it comes to anything that is “Chinese”/“oriental”
