The incredible People Watching available at Balthazar makes scrunching into a tiny table and overpaying for brunch totally worth it. Say whatever you want about this place, you can’t take away the fact that the kitchen gets it done.

Ratings 7.5-8.0:These are restaurants that are reliable, tasty, and particularly good for whatever we have deemed them “Perfect For.” Hit up a 7.7 for Date Night with confidence, as long as you don’t need the restaurant to be the most interesting thing that happens that night.

As always Balthazar is a scene.. crowded, noisy and cramped. The food still lives up to its reputation and the dedicated favorites always impress. Personally I can't help but order the goat cheese and onion tart and once again it was impeccable . It is truly the best in class! The scrambled eggs in puff pastry is also one of those seemingly simple dishes but somehow there must be some secret ingredient because the flavor is amazing!! The hamburger was up to anyone's standards but not the best I have had there but still flavorful and delicious. Balthazar is a gem in the neighborhood, a destination, a treasure! We will of course be back again and again!

Bustling atmosphere for weekend brunch. Tables close together but not every table taken. Service affable not overbearing. Food very French and large portions.

Made a trip into the city just to dine here. Our fourth time here, and this place never disappoints! Love characteristics of the old building it’s in, and the energetic vibe of all the people there. Food is all top notch from appetizers to desserts. Looking forward to next time already!!

I remember ordering a salad and an appetizer. The fresh lettace was clean and the lite dressing made for a nice salad. It was not a heavy dressing. My appetizer was squid...delicious and I didnt feel full. However because it was my birthday I ordered a dessert. I ordered a meringue with fruit on it. (I havent seen Meringue on a menu in many years). It was delicious! Coffee was so so...I have a feeling I got what was left in the bottom of a coffee urn or a coffee pot. I luv this restaurant for its energy!

We love Balthazar’s but our breakfast experience was significantly below our previous times. Food was not excellent and was served lukewarm. We’ll be back but not for breakfast.

This place almost never disappoints; it gets crowded and loud, but food is very good, the service professional, cocktails are creative and the wines (even by the glass) are well chosen. Not a cheap place, but I've paid more for less quality. The mille-feuille with blueberries is perfection.

The decor is interesting and the servers attentive. I found the food salty and unrxciting but the worst part was the noise. My friend and I had not seen each other in a year but were unable to have a real conversation because we didn’t want to scream above the noise level. If I had known how noisy it would be I never would have made the reservation. I don’t plan to eat there again.

A bustling awesome dinner spot. With Parisian vibes we chatted the night away. Duck confit was outstanding, salmon and prepped steak were delicious. Highly recommended, will make it back even though we live in San Diego.

Everything was pretty well done except the duck confit...was served out of the deep fryer to crisp it I am assuming but the fryer oil was old and it had a really not so pleasant taste. Overall a decent experience.

La comida deliciosa, las porciones demasiado grandes, mi esposo y yo compartimos un platillo y una entrada, nos hubiera gustado probar algo más pero ya era demasiada comida, el servicio bueno pero los meseros muy sangrones y los tenías que estar buscando

This is a Top 5 restaurant for me in NYC. The food and atmosphere cannot be beat. Brunch is my particular favorite, and last Sunday's visit did not disappoint, from our perfect Bloody Mary's, to the escargot, and Eggs Benedict - all superb. Brought friends that had never been and they loved it too. Until next time!

The brunch was terrible. The pastries were hard and stagnant. They put it in microwave after we asked to heat it and it was boiling hot on the outside and hard in the inside. The pastry my egg dish came on was hard as a rock. I asked for a steAk knife to cut through and it still was impossible. I gave up so I ate the eggs and I gotta tell you they tasted like boxed eggs, Not fresh eggs. My dish was 30 bucks. What a terribly disappointing way to start your wknd and what rip off. This was my first review btw. I just had to say something.

Excellent food and service. Wine options are also great. The only negative point was the noise and the excessive number of tables. Restaurant was overpacked, you could not have a nice conversation. And leaving the restaurant was also a challenge: tons os tables on the way.
