What Insiders Are Saying
The original Blue Ribbon in Soho, in which you can eat bone marrow, fried chicken, and oysters from a white table cloth at 3am. What a world.
The food was great. Music was a little loud but overall a great experience and we will be returning soon.
We've been to Blue Ribbon several times, and each time we are blown away by the incredible service, the delicious food, and friendliness of the staff. We went for our anniversary last week, and yet again, they hit it out of the ballpark. We will be back ASAP, and happy to recommend this lovely restaurant!
Every time we visit NYC this is a must stop! They never disappoint! The food is fantastic!
Food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Everyone was pleased with their meals.
Best chicken ever from my wife and I thought the sweetbreads were excellent.
We arrived for an early reservation, 5:30, prior to a show at the City Winery. Even though there was only one other table seated, the service was as careful and attentive as if the place was jammed. I often find the service in an uncrowded restaurant borders on careless but that was not the case here. The server had several excellent tips about the menu and we were not disappointed following his advice. It was a very enjoyable experience i would be happy to repeat.
This has been one of my favorite restaurants for nearly 20 years, and it continues to impress. It never disappoints.
my wife and I were in for a surprise at Blue Ribbon Brasserie. We chose this restaurant for an after theater meal and were so pleased we did. The food was inventive, the ambiance wonderful along with the service and it will be pour default late night spot when in New York. On a rainy night it was cozy and warm; a reat treat
For how expensive the resturant is, the food was dissapointing. Great service and the cocktails were good
Hasn't changed in 30 years. Great food and service. You can never go wrong here
Our waiter, Jonathan, was excellent. He was extremely accomodatinh, and we never felt as if we were bothering him, even while making special requests from the menu. And, as always, the bone marrow with oxtail marmalade was sublime.
Second visit: Sunday night and crowded. I had asked for quiet and we were given a table in the quietest corner. The noise level was more bearable for a 93-year-old than in many Village and SoHo restaurants. Most importantly, the food was excellent, possibly the best roast duck ever. Biggest problem: The waitpersons did move things along too fast. Overall: 3.5
This was so much fun! Real adult fun. Great staff that was there for you in the little things (coats, extra whatever, sense of humor, and just plain kindness). Sophisticated without feeling stuffy in any way. Great food which we already know, but there's a nuance to Blue Ribbon. They're comfortable in their own skin kind of feeling.
I will be back with 6, or 16. or just sit at the bar an joke around with charming bartender. Great spot.
We were very impressed with the ambiance and the staff were fantastic and allowed me to extend the table and delay arrival
the food was excellent and the sizes quite right. The service very good. The wine list good but pricey A little noisy.
The staff were exceptionally attentive and kind. We enjoyed excellent dishes and the romantic atmosphere. We will definitely return next time we’re back in NYC.
Food and service is amazing
Never disappointed
Only negative was the dim lighting makes the menu extremely hard to read.
After 22 years, still my favorite spot every time I visit NY. The Catfish is outstanding.
The service and the food are excellent. Never disappoints.
Food was great but service wasn’t as good as it used to be. Over priced. Bus boy told me I couldn’t order a drink with him and the waiter only came around twice.
The salmon was full of flavor, and the ambience was great. This was a very nice surprise treat and I recommend checking it out. Wonderful and friendly service.
Food was nice, service was better but it was quite loud
This was our favorite! Have been to NYC many times and not sure how I missed this one. Everything was delicious, well prepared. I had the classic fried chicken which was as good as my Alabama born and bred aunts. Service is professional and the setting is cozy. Couldn't be happier!
Small, intimate dining. You are sitting very close! Best with a couple or 4-some, although there were a couple of larger tables. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Bone marrow and oxtail marmalade is exceptional. Also had the special peppercorn pork chop - very good with just the right amount of sauce.
Great vibe, locals, awesome food. Reasons this place continues to shine!
My wife and I dined early to accommodate 7 pm theater on Broadway. Lovely dinner and superb service. Very unusual escargot preparation with bacon and yams in a wine reduction was a tasty starter. We followed that with a leek salad that was very light and refreshing. We shared the paella and it was excellent and plenty for two people. Excellent bottle of Italian red wine from Umbria capped the evening. Would highly recommend Blue Ribbon Brasserie.
Always love this place, they nail the entire experience. Cozy, comfortable with a true French Brasserie vibe. Over my years in NYC, this is a place I continue to go back to as one of my favorites. The staff is wonderful and even if they don’t actually remember you, they always come off with the sincerity and consideration that you are one of their best customers. You will find the occasional star athlete at a booth with some friends, but what is so special about this place is that they too feel the similar comfort everyone feels when dining here. Blue Ribbon - keep doing what you’re doing!
Walking in, it’s very small and cramped, with waiters having to move tables to seat guests. The waiter would then grab you a loaf of bread with a side of butter. The bread was like the stereotypical teenage boy, soft on the inside and thick and hard on the outside. There were numerous servers so you got service and you got it quickly.
The shrimp were crispy and salty, with a fairly thick coating that allowed you still taste the crust but still taste the shrimp. The shrimp tasted fresh, soft and delicious.
Oysters were next, served alongside toast and sides, these little jewels come from the west coast and were pretty fantastic. They were salty and smooth, turning a little sweet and were cleaned properly, avoiding any sand or grit.
The beef marrow and oxtail marmalade was peculiar. The marrow was served with toast and sea salt, alongside the marmalade. The marrow was very fatty and oily but paired extremely well with the bread, which soaked up the oil and made it soft and crispy at the same time. The marmalade though was extremely sweet, having more fruit than oxtail, and with the marrow, was extremely difficult to swallow after a few bites.
The Duck was a double edged sword, being both great and mediocre. The Duck was cooked pretty well, being a little pink to make it more tender, and the skin was very crispy(Peking Duck Chefs take note). The turnip purée tasted and looked like mashed potatoes which were delightful, and the brussel sprouts were cooked spectacularly. The issue became the orange sauce which was what the duck sat in. Initially with a little bit gl sauce, the Duck was amazing, but halfway through, it was impossible to finish, the sauce just made it too hard to completely swallow and hard to digest.
I’ll recommend this place as a Friday night hang out where money trumps over quality. Otherwise, for the price I paid for and the quality I got, I’d not recommend it, other places are better and cheaper. @ Blue Ribbon Brasserie
Blue Ribbon--never better! This is my favorite restaurant for a number of reasons. One is the people. everyone who works there seems happy to be there and is engaging as well as professional. the food is unsurpassed. the quality is exceptional so i enjoy things again and again, but there are always seasonal specials to try that are a hit as well. We had a great time celebrating my husband's birthday.
Having experienced the fried chicken at your Las Vegas location, I want to share it with my family. We all enjoyed it very much. I would recommend this meal to anyone.
Awesome! Fabulous staff, great bar.... Fantastic music, intimate ❤️
Honestly you can’t get any better- fried oysters, holy cannoli!!!
Loved this place the food was so good, the place was nice and cozy.
We sat front center 4 top. It’s right next to a vertical pipe and you get a traffic bottle neck in the chair closest to the pipe. Not recommended for crank seniors.
Seated promptly. Love the menu. Matzah ball soup and steak tartare excellent starters
Fried chicken a must for main
Outstanding service from the whole team.
Thoroughly recommend the restaurant and will definitely return.
The service was excellent. We were a party of 9 and although that is one person more than they prefer to accomodate to a table, we all sat comfortably at a round table. Noise level a bit high and with a larger group it was harder to hear. Food was excellent. We all ordered something different and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.
Always great food , service & atmosphere. Romantic, sexy dining experience
Great food, loved the fried chicken. Personable and warm staff
Consistently, great service and food. I never left disappointed every time I eat here. Thank you to the staff and chef for keeping a high standard of service. I would definitely come back and recommend this place to others.
