- WRWendyR1 review5.0Dined 4 days agoWe have never been to this place before, but I promise we WILL be back. The staff was amazing. The food so good. The complementary pork rinds to the complementary cotton candy. Such a wonderful treat! If only the pesky flies would go somewhere else, but when outside, we are in their habitat. I did have a tough time choosing what I wanted to eat because everything looked so great. Next time, we bringing friends!More infoSoLou Restaurant$$$$• Contemporary Southern• Baton Rouge•4.5
- OTOpenTable DinerBaton Rouge / Lafayette •2 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoI made a reservation on my husband’s birthday. For a Tuesday, it was packed but not loud or cramped. We had enough space to have private conversation talking normally. It was like Cheers - everybody knew our name! We only told the hostess my husband’s name, but every server and a manager who came to the table addressed us by name or told my husband “Happy Birthday” by name. Call it silly. They were welcoming and genuine. Our drinks - a Moscato, Paloma, and Manhattan - were the best. We started with crab stuffed mushrooms. They were so filling and gone as quickly as they arrived. My husband’s cowboy steak was juicy and cooked perfectly as ordered. My shrimp, mash potatoes, and asparagus was seasoned well, savory, and delicious. Our server, Dana, surprised us with an oreo cheesecake and birthday candle. Apparently the waiter who boxed our food over heard us talking about having orea cheesecake. We didn’t even have our dessert menu yet nor did we know this dessert was on their menu. Special shout-out to Dana! She was welcoming, approachable, friendly, patient, and has excellent customer service. We will return!More infoRuth's Chris Steak House - Baton Rouge$$$$• Steakhouse• Baton Rouge•5

Not far from the Gulf of Mexico, Vermillion River, and Atchafalaya Swamp is Lafayette, Louisiana. The town's closeness to these bodies of water makes fresh-water fish and seafood among the most popular foods. Restaurants in Lafayette specialize in Cajun and Creole styles of cooking, which were originated by the people who settled here generations ago. Cajun classics like gumbo, red beans and rice, and po'boys are all popular. In Lafayette, you'll also find classic American burgers and Southern dishes like chicken-fried steak. Be sure to try beignets, a deep-fried Louisiana pastry. Topped with powdered sugar or served with dipping sauces, these are eaten for breakfast and dessert.
