How very sad that our wonderful dinner was marred by service issues! It started out well, with an attentive waiter, but it fell down precipitously as the evening went on. Our entrees were simply delicious - I had the catch of the day in a yummy broth with just the right amount of spice. The cassoulet it was bedded on was pretty skimpy, but I didn’t care because it was so tasty. A larger person might think the portion size was a bit small, but I found the striped bass rich enough I didn’t need it. Hubby loved his mussels in a spicy curry broth. After we didn’t get our second glass of wine until we were well into our entrees (wait person promised he would have them ready for our entrees; we finally got another person to deliver them), and we waited about 25 minutes after we finished our meal with still no one in sight, I got up and tried to find our waiter. I noticed was a large party of maybe 12-15 people in a private room. I spotted our waiter and told him he’d forgotten about us. He said that he had this big group and was completely tied up with them. We feel the restaurant should have adequately staffed up for this large group so people like us aren’t left in the lurch. We wanted after dinner coffees, but were so mad about being abandoned we just got the bill from someone else and left. This restaurant really shot itself in the foot, as it could have been such an awesome meal. Hopefully they will read this and make staffing adjustments, as we’d like to come back for their great food.

went to celebrate our anniversary the day after Valentine's. Lovely experience from start to finish. We usually sit in the bar or in the courtyard, but this time requested a table in the dining room for a change. Such a nice room, warm & well appointed, tables are generously spaced & great music (as always). Top shelf service and food. All the staff that interacted with us were aware we were celebrating our anniversary (we had noted it when we made the reso.) and extended their congrats. Nice touch.

We were here for Valentine's Day and the prix fix dinner was $75.00 per person. There was a lot of food, served family style. The salads were exceptional. The only complaint was there was too much seafood -- shellfish, crayfish, shrimp, etc -- and several people were either allergic or didn't care for that kind of food. I think additional vegetarian options or chicken options would have been preferable.

Discover Santa Barbara

Only a two-hour jaunt from Los Angeles, Santa Barbara is a busy seaside town with a relaxed vibe and proximity to California's booming wine region. Sometimes called the American Riviera, Santa Barbara exudes alfresco charm while benefiting from local, fresh produce and sustainably harvested seafood. From the taco trail to cracked fresh crab at the pier to eclectic wine bars with delicate snacks, Santa Barbara is a culinary delight for a range of tastes. One thing you won't find much of is pretentious, black-tie dining; Santa Barbara prefers it low-profile. Fresh and local is the name of the game here. Copious nearby ranch land, wine country and independent distillers and breweries keep chefs inspired to design their menus with a distinctly local bent.
