Founded in 2013, Capitol Cider is a restaurant, full bar, bottleshop and music venue located in the heart of Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. It offers more than 170 hard ciders on tap and in bottles, 10 taps of craft beer, and features apple-based spirits including vodka, gin and Calvados. Its menu of modern pub fare is entirely gluten-free. The atmosphere is set with dark paneling, a master copy collection of famous paintings, old books and period architectural elements. Downstairs is home to shuffleboard tables, board games, trivia and TVs (hidden) for local sporting & cultural events. Owner Julie Tall has created a robust arts and events program featuring Drink and Draw, live music, art and literary talks, game night and more. With total capacity of 260, Capitol Cider is the country’s largest independent cider bar.

I have celiac disease so a gluten free kitchen is a real treat for me. Come here every time I am in town and enjoy the comfy elevated bar food. My non celiac friend had a great steak and I had one of the best gluten free fish and chips.

The new bread from Essential Bakery is AWFUL! It LOOKS fine & seems to toast well, but the taste & texture are simply putrid. Please go back to Franz or whichever brand you were using before, PLEASE!

We arranged a reservation for 8pm but did not get seated until 8:45, which is not ideal. Food was good though, and the screaming undead skull bartender makes a very good martini.

Great ambiance with academy art on the walls for a very fun twist on a traditional feel. Service was solid but lacking in a few details. Food was very good from start to finish. On the traditional pub end of the spectrum, but very well executed. Would definitely return and recommend.

I came here to celebrate my recent promotion with some friends. I had more friends show up than was expected, which was a burden on the staff with how busy they were, but they worked hard to accommodate and I greatly appreciated it. The cider and mead selections are phenomenal. Food was delicious. It's also a huge bonus that all the food is gluten free, since we had people that cannot eat anything with gluten. I like coming here and will be back another time.

I had been here once previously a few years ago and had such an amazing experience. The waiter gave us pairing recommendations etc. This time however while not bad was unremarkable. Nothing stood out as amazing or exceptional. I made this reservation to celebrate my daughter’s 22nd birthday and it was not recognized even though it was put in the reservation. The food was fine and the service was simply OK.

I have mixed emotions. First, we were thrilled to find a restaurant that the entire menu was gluten free with no worries of cross contamination. What we did order was wonderful. My husband had the fish and chips and I had the chilaquilles. We also shared the cinnamon roll.
The waitstaff was friendly, a tad slow, but we were in zero hurry. The issue was the three things we wanted on the menu were not available. We were there at 11:00 am and and wanted the lentil soup and the grilled cheese and tomato soup. They had no soups. I had also ordered the flat white coffee that was on the menu and the waiter admitted that he had no idea how to make one. I didn’t really worry about that because I am happy with any coffee drink, but was a bit thrown because that was three things we asked for and couldn’t get.
So, it’s a mixed bag. Bottom line, the food was good and it was all gluten free.

The food at Capitol Cider is amazing. I’ve had a wheat allergy for about 10 years now, and it is a struggle to find restaurants that are actually safe for me and also that my friends and family would enjoy. Everyone I’ve gone here with has loved their food, and I love finally getting to enjoy a night out eating delicious food instead of just watching everyone else eat it.

We went for lunch/brunch. The burger and fries were ok, but the brunch items ordered were inedible. Music was so loud we couldn't speak to each other. The booth was near the door, so it was uncomfortably cold. Will never go back.

I felt like the food was overly salty. I believe they put finishing salt on my salad and it felt like I was chewing dirt. The drinks were super good. I would go back for a drink but not the food. Our server gave us a dessert menu, never checked back to see if we wanted anything and just brought our check, so we decided not to get dessert and left. It was Valentines Day and they were super busy, so maybe this isn’t the norm for them.

Capitol cider is my favorite restaurant. I’ve been there a dozen times and never had a bite I didn't love. Plus the entire kitchen is Gluten Free!

This was for Valentines Day. I had family in town and had hyped up Capitol Cider for weeks. We walked in and our group of four was taken to a two seater table. I told the host that I had a reservation for four. Instead of apologizing and checking he told me that all they had for me was a two person reservation and assumed I was mistaken. I pulled up at the reservation on OpenTable and could see that they had it wrong and that I did indeed have a reservation for four people.

We never received an apology and instead were taken to a very tight corner booth made for two people and were basically told to wait so they could try and figure out what the issue was. While we waited at this booth a server approached us and asked us if we had a reservation, as though we were intruding and were at our seats by mistake. We said no and eventually sat. We were offered the possibility of a proper table for four but they offered it as though it was the biggest inconvenience and didn’t seem like it was a sure thing.

A full 20 minutes went by where the same server that initially watched us sitdown kept going by our table and I had to flag down a bartender and ask for someone to come and take our drink order. The waiter eventually arrived and never once acknowledged the fact that he ignored our table for 20 minutes once we were seated and pretended like everything was great.

Once all is said and done we got our bill and another 20 minutes went by while our group sat and waited for our server, Curtis, to come and take our credit cards so we could leave. During that time he helped all of the tables around us, yet we were ignored. I eventually had to take the tabs up to him at the counter to get it taken care of.

I love this spot but I was so disappointed and embarrassed to have talked this place up to my family, only to receive horrible service and absolutely no acknowledgement of any of this mistakes or any attempts to make it right.

This is a little gem!!!! Delicious food in a fun brown cafe setting. Fantastic food for sharing which happens to be gluten free too. Great options for vegetarians too.
We loved the sweet potato fries, the brussels sprouts and the ratatouille. Enjoy!!

We were very happy to find a gluten-free restaurant. If you want gluten free fries, they have them. However, my burger, ordered to be medium with no aioli, arrive rare to medium rare (warm but red-not even pink- in the middle) with a lot of aioli on both buns. The ribs were tasty, but required picking out tendons. The fries was good the olives where great.

The service was OK, though the server did not notice the gobs of aioli on my plate or that I did not eat the middle of the burger.

I always enjoy going to this place. As an artist I appreciate the atmosphere, menu and service. The folks that do the operations make me feel so welcome! From the bartenders to the waiters to the cooks themselves. I always recommend this restaurant to others just to experience the level of "seattle feel". Cant wait to see the drag shows and try the drawing sessions as well! Love you guys

Stopped in Brunch and had a delicious Americano and English Hash! I like that the menu is gluten and peanut free and clearly labels which items have dairy in them. It makes going out while doing Whole30, so much easier. It's a little pricey, but it was a lot of food!

We were in Seattle for only one night. I have Celiac Disease and researched places to eat where I'd be safe and someone recommended Capitol Cider. We enjoyed our meal and it was so nice for me not to have to worry about cross contamination of food in the kitchen! The staff were very friendly and knowledgable and the flight of ciders I had were incredibly tasty!! Loved the experience. Will definitely recommend and will definitely be back!!

This is one of my favorite brunch places, hands' down. Being completely GF and peanut free is amazing and the food is delicious. The only draw back is that almond milk is the only non-dairy milk option they have for tea/coffee. I realize that was a business decision, but I just plan on bringing my own soy milk now.

We came in for Brunch and Dinner, and had fabulous meals each time. Brunch consisted of their cinnamon rolls (OMG), as well as biscuits and gravy and the chilaquiles. Having Celiac, I get so stoked when I can walk into an establishment and order anything off the menu without having to ask a thousand follow-up questions. In case brunch wasn't lovely enough, dinner knocked it out of the park. The calamari and cheese curds w/apple butter were to die for. I have no doubt the entire menu is delicious, and look forward to trying more upon my next visit to Seattle. probably our only complaint is that the service was inconsistent: sometimes they would be super attentive, other times it was like flagging down a cab in NYC.

Service was extremely slow. We were annoyed that a 20% tip was automatically added for our group of 6. With this waitperson, we would have left 10%. Food was fine. They need to add descriptions of their ciders to the drink menu as the waiter was not familiar with them. Disappointing evening as we were celebrating a birthday. Didn’t seem to be anyone in charge to speak with. That said, all employees were very nice. Perhaps we caught them on a bad night.

Reserved a table for mid-evening on NYE. Getting a table in advance was seamless and it was ready right on time- thank you! Food and drinks were good. The limited holiday menu could have used more meat options but otherwise we were happy!
