The dining room was nice. We could still here music coming in from the club area which was great. Food was fine. Deserts were excellent.
The food was plain and was not the correct temperature when they first brought it out. It took an unusually long time for the waitress to come check up on us each time.
This was my first visit to Crooners. I had been to the former restaurant (Shorewood Inn), but that literally was decades ago. It is a jazz music / dinner theatre theme. We only dined and did not attend the music venue. Food was good, service was fair. I would be willing to give it another try.
Was suppose to have reservations for show.
Thay gave us only dinner. Menu prices different from actual charge for scallops by 4.00. Wont go back. Definitely not worth long drive
We joined friends here to eat an early supper. Happy hour was until 6pm so we enjoyed reduced priced drinks. Food was outstanding! Walleye was fixed with a crusted outer layer and was moist and delicious. The Italian sausage/ pasta dish was enough to feed 2 people and very tasty. My spinach/beet salad was huge and very, very good. Because we had a birthday boy amongst our group, he received a decadent piece of chocolate cake with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Our server, Donna, was outstanding. We will definitely go back to try more dinners and listen to the jazz music. Very enjoyable evening.
I had 5 people in my party for dinner and they tried to seat us at a table for 4 people, stating they would add another chair. Good heavens the table for 4 with drinks, apps and then dinner was barely adequate for 4 and would have been untenable for 5. I told the host that it was not acceptable, I had made a reservation for 5 and the restaurant should have not accepted it if they did not have accommodations for 5. He had to go get permission! to move two tables together.
I ordered Salmon med rare and it came well done.
Service was slow due to our reservation at 6 with the show following at 7:30 PM/ need better trained helpers for their food service staff, brought out a Caesar salad without a pepper grinder, and when asked he said he did not know if they had that, he asked, he found it, and then he just set in on our table!!
The atmosphere was very nice , elegant. The food and drink was very good , we had a seafood boil for an appetizer and scallops for an entrée, both were very interesting and very tasty. The service and wait staff were great. Crowd was a little loud for the style of music . We were very pleased and will certainly go back soon .
Ben Sidran performed before an appreciative crowd. We were close enough to see the keyboard - important for my friend who is a pianist. The venue was great for his quartet. The dinner was quite good - scallops with asparagus. I highly recommend the venue for music as well as the food.
We all enjoyed the dinner and show. The receptionist is friendly and efficient. I talked with her on the phone regarding table for tribute to Patsy Cline. She was very helpful in finding the perfect fit for 6 of us. She was not rushed and listened to my concerns and needs as I had not attended any performances before. I will be back soon.
Crooners has changed into a music venue! Gone is the central bar, the great gathering spot, and in place are white draped tables. Seats approx 200 now. On stage is always great entertainment but loud, no matter where you may be seated in the room. No, not advisable for conversation. That would be before or after the sets. Great food, though. Minimal Happy Hour menu. Burgers are always a great call. As well as the walleye and prime rib. Short rib sliders were more pot roast-y than ribs. Pretty solid, not soft with gravy. Cheese sauce was also on them. Umm ...why? The fish tacos got raves; as did...the beet salad. Mary's Chocolate cake, fabulous! Order one for the table. Little goes long way! Our server was the best part of the dinner. Funny, efficient and definitely a pro. A show unto herself. Would we go back? Sure. It is a neighborhood spot. Would not sit in the main room because you cannot have a conversation there; but in the Desmond room. No direct music on certain nights, however even with the door closed to the main room, there is just the right decibel of music.
The Crooner's experience was fabulous--everything from food to the attentive service to the setting--made for a special evening. It turned out that my dinner partner had taken her husband to the restaurant before and he was jealous that he was not part of the experience that night.
I encouraged her to take the music calendar for Crooners so she could share with her husband and return with him.
The only disappointment was that I had noted that my guest and I were celebrating Leo birthdays (july/august) when I made the reservation on open table, but there was no mention of it. Why ask if there is no follow through?
We are having my daughters wedding reception at Crooners in late August, and my wife hasn't been to the establishment. Our Anniversary is early August, so she asked if we could have dinner there to tie all things together.
5PM Early dinner and we left just as the music started, but great service and care was taken to make sure we enjoyed our date night out.
Chef's complimentary desert to boot.
Recommend this to all my friends and family for a nice peaceful night out.
Ordered my prime rib "medium rare", it came "medium well...sent it back. They replaced it quickly. The prime rib was PERFECT! The other three people ordered Chicken pot pies, they were generous portions and tasty. HOWEVER...every side dish on all four plates, was cold or room temperature at best...from my au jus to my mashed potatoes to the wild rice served with the pot pies. Even the vegetable of the night, asparagus was cold...inexcusable!!!! We have been to Crooners several times, and one other time, my wife ordered the extra charge au gratin potatoes, which came cold. How difficult is it for the chef and his minions to make sure that the entire meal is served hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you have the nerve to charge an extra $6 for a basket of four slices of bread, with no salad included with the meal, one would hope that the rest of the meal would be PERFECT!!!
Food was okay but very limited menu. The prior restaurant (Shorewood) has a much better menu and food.
One room was dedicated to music by a live band and it was sold out. We ate in the other dining room which was very very quiet for a Sunday night.
Food was adequate. Appetizers were overpriced and not very good. I had the parmesan crusted walleye and it was very good. Drinks were reasonable. Food grade C
I am so glad there is a nicer restaurant in the northern suburbs. We get sick of the sports bars. This restaurant is excellent and the service is the best.
Early (5:30 p.m.) dinner on a Friday with family. Cocktails were excellent, as was the poutine appetizer. Prime rib was healthy portion, and the cheeseburger was great (with a side of the "best tater tots ever"). However, four small scallops portion was very meager for the relatively-expensive price point and the wild rice was mushy and warm, not hot. Creme brule was grainy in texture and only mildly rich. We had a terrific meal about 2 months ago so will be willing to try again.
Not a bad seat in the house for enjoying the music. Ambiance conjures an old school jazz club. Acme Jazz was wonderful and so was Arnie. Food was pretty good too. Have the charcuterie - a meal all by itself but great to share.
Service was super slow. Had to wait 45 minutes for meal when the restaurant was not busy. People who were seated and ordered after we did received their meals much sooner than ours. Had to ask for status of our order. Prime Rib was just okay and received medium vs. medium rare. Server was not attentive at all - too busy chatting with staff and didn't seem to have any interest in working.
Great food! Wonderful music!
Great service, overall food was good. Nice version on the Wedge Salad. They have a sleeper wine on their list. The Washington State Basel Cellars 2013 Claret is excellent,.Was nice to see the owner introduce the musicians. Jennifer Grimm, her husband Joe Cruz on guitar and Lisa ( sorry I can't remember her last name) on sax made for an exceptional music experience. Venue is great too.
We made reservations to celebrate our anniversary.
While we were eating our meal, the host brought a couple and sat them with us!
He called them our table guests.
There were other tables available.
Not sure why this happened.
Donna was a very great server. We had my Grandma’s 85th birthday dinner and it was a delicious meal for all!
We hadn't been to Crooners for a while. It used to be fantastic. It has gone down in service and food quality. It's very expensive for the quality of the food. I felt very rushed and wasnt able to sit and enjoy a drink before dinner. This place used to be where we would bring out of town guests. I don't think we will be back.
I expected more quality for the price of the food. While definitely an upscale supper club, it was not nearly as good as I expected.
The food was not quite warm when it was delivered to the table. The wait staff was not very attentive. I was disappointed as I had not had that experience other times I had dined there. I had to ask the servers to remove dirty plates from the table. I didn't think the server was very knowledgeable.
We recommend having dinner in the lounge / dining room before a show. You need to be quiet during the show and eating is distracting. Our server was wonderful - very attentive. We stayed after the show and sat in the lounge for additional music. Love Crooners!
Mother's day 2018. The fixed menu was a bit pricey and a couple of entrees were on the cool side. Lots of food though!
During the meal the next live music act set up for their set and rehearsed a bit. A bit disruptive, but good jazz.
We have been to Crooner’s for Mother’s Day brunch buffet the last few years and loved it. This year Crooner’s had a three course meal for the Mother’s Day meal. My family did not enjoy the food, the service, or the overall experience this year. I was celebrating my first Mother’s Day with my son and with my entire family and we were wholeheartedly disappointed; we will not be going back. No one finished any course as all of the offerings were terrible and all courses closely resembled the other courses.
Went there for Mother’s Day. Instead of a brunch buffet, they had a 3-course uninspiring menu. The food was mediocre at best. They did have live music but it was too loud and conversations were difficult to hear. Service was poor and it was a challenge getting the servers attention for missing place setting pieces, more water, etc. The pricing was too high for the food quality and service. Maybe this place is good for happy hour or their live music at night, but it’s not where to go for a good meal. It’s too bad because I really wanted to like this place.
Was not very impressed in your menu selection at all. Was hoping for Lobster or seafood and you don't serve it. Server hardly ever came to table so we felt pushed on giving 20% . We will never be coming again
Probably the best risotto in town and when you add shrimp what a meal! I wasn't sure why when I made the reservations it asked if we were celebrating a special occasion which we were. I thought maybe a complimentary dessert would be coming:(
Went there for a wedding anniversary. Had the Divers Scallops and the Stead Diane (with various accompaniments) and it was all very good. We were seated with a view of the lake, which was nice despite being too early in the spring to be at its most attractive.
A friend recommended this place. My husband had a great time. The food was good and the staff friendly.
Really nice place. Great live music, service and food was excellent.
Good value ,nice staff, good music venue and nice sound
Food is unimaginitive, bland plus cheapest butter it tasted like Crisco. Food came out only Luke warm. Never returning for the food...maybe the entertainment.
We have labeled Crooner's one of our favorite "special " places!
Saw a great show and were able to easily visit with friends, quiet and fun! Will definitely be back
First time there and had great live music. Both performers we're fantastic, food was good, we'll be back!
