We spent 2 days in Munich and were told to make sure to stop at Haxnbauer. I made reservations that we definitely didn't need - the place was empty. Staff was super friendly. We got a whole pork knuckle and some sides, an appetizer and another dish. Most of it was good. We were able to chose the knuckle that we got. Fun experience.

My favorite restaurant in the Altstadt. Consistently excellent food and drinks. The beef tartare and Schweinshaxe are favorites. The brown gravy is also about the best I’ve had in Munich.
