we celebrated a birthday at okini on a sunday for happy hour at 4:30pm, and it turned out to be such a memorable evening from start to finish. to drink, we had the sapporo black alongside the yuzu kissed sour, fruity, luscious, and zesty with just the right amount of brightness from the yuzu citrus. it was refreshing, smooth, and easily one of the standout cocktails of the night. we ordered a generous spread from the happy hour menu: the tartar, fried scallops, brussels sprouts caesar, and the salmon aburi don, before sharing the yarrow meadows duck and the unagi alla vodka for mains. the salmon aburi don was one of the highlights of the night. the salmon was buttery and delicately torched, giving it that subtle smokiness while still melting in your mouth. paired with the rich onsen egg, the dish became even more luxurious and comforting, coating the perfectly seasoned rice beautifully. the balance of richness, texture, and freshness made it incredibly satisfying for a happy hour dish. the unagi alla vodka was another standout and such a creative fusion dish. the smoky sweetness of the eel paired surprisingly well with the creamy vodka sauce, creating something indulgent, savoury, and unique without feeling overly heavy. definitely one of the more memorable pasta dishes we’ve had recently. my personal favourite, though, was the yarrow meadows duck. the duck was cooked beautifully, tender, juicy, and packed with flavour in every bite. the richness of the meat was balanced so well, and each component on the plate felt thoughtful and refined. it was the kind of dish you keep thinking about after the meal is over. service throughout the evening was attentive without ever feeling intrusive. our glasses were never empty for long, and the pacing of the courses felt relaxed and celebratory. to top it all off, the staff surprised us with a complimentary scoop of black sesame ice cream with a candle which was such thoughtful touch and ended the night perfectly.

Excellent food and stellar service. Will definitely be back! Pineapple rice dish with crab was my favorite while the green chicken with curry was also stellar.

The 2 of us had the Saigon roll and chicken roll followed by Pho Ga (chicken) and Pho Satay. The chicken roll was good. The other 3 items were excellent
