Best Contemporary Mexican Restaurants in Yonge and Sheppard

We did the tasting menu for my boyfriend’s birthday. From the moment we stepped through the door to the moment we left, the service was incredible! We were seated immediately and had our server explain the menu to us. He’d be the one picking out the tasting menu foods, he asked if we wanted specific options from the menu or if we wanted him to create it. We asked for 2 items off the menu and he chose the rest. He even gave us an off the menu item (the beef tartar) which was spectacular! The food came right away, we barely waited 5 minutes before the first dish was presented. It was different servers each time that served us our dishes and they explained everything about the dish to us. We were doted on all night, they cleaned our table, switched out our plates and cutlery and took away our glasses immediately after we finished. The food was amazing, I’m a pretty picky eater so I was surprised that I enjoyed almost everything we were served. Dessert was included in the tasting menu, which I was thrilled about because I wanted to ask about a dessert for my boyfriend’s birthday. Because it was a fancy restaurant I didn’t know if they lit up a candle or did birthdays. I didn’t even ask them to do it, but they brought over 2 desserts, one with a lit candle and wished my boyfriend a happy birthday. It was so sweet and the dessert…. Omg the coconut cream was to die for! They also gave me my own dessert which was a spiced chocolate mouse that was so light and delicious! Overall our experience was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for it to go any better!

Food was phenomenal as was the service. A little on the loud side close to the kitchen and made it difficult to have a conversation. But in terms of the food, it’s simply the best!

Came here strictly for drinks. They have a lot of unique drinks, worth a visit!

The food at El Chino was so flavourful and delicious! The tostada de atun is a must try! The spice level is just right, the food cooked to perfection and each dish had such a unique flavour profile! We will definitely be back to try more of their dishes!
