I went to Dragonfly for my birthday. We sat in the wine room which is cozy and private. The food and service were perfect! Highly recommend the spinach artichoke dip, lamb popsicles and the blue cheese twice baked potato! Everything was so good!
Appetizers were phenomenal and well portioned. Just wish the main entrees were more flavorfu.
Food and service was great, I always loved the unique Art Deco decoration of Zaza too. Just make sure they will give you on of the tables on the dinning room and not on the dragonfly bar area, unless you don’t mind high noise. I really recommend the lamb for appetizer, both steaks and fish dishes were great.
I dined at Dragonfly on NYE and needless to say it was busy! There were 4 of us reserved for dinner at 845 but we weren’t served our food until 1030 roughly that evening which was excessive in my opinion. Once the food arrived it was pretty tasty but our waiter didn’t seem to care about how long it took nor did he take the time to ensure that we were attended to during our wait. Not sure of the wait time is normal but if you’re in no rush to eat dinner then it’s a good option for you.
Unfortunately, this was a very poor choice for an evening out, especially on New Year's Eve. We ordered a caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, and crabcake to start. The caesar was not fresh and the lettuce showing signs of turning. The shrimp cocktail was not presented well at all, and simply lay limp on a plate. This was certainly not a "cocktail." Further, the shrimp did not taste fresh and was likely previously frozen. To their credit, the crabcake was good and up to par. However, the other pre-courses were not, especially given the prices for this restaurant and the upscale placement of the restaurant.
However bad the appetizers were, they paled in comparison to the main courses. We ordered the red snapper on a bed of risotto, and the dry aged ribeye on fingerling potatoes. The snapper was, to put it frankly, tasteless, and the risotto was more akin to gruel. The steak was far from tender, and likewise tasteless. I didn't even bother trying the potatoes as we were already very disappointed by this time.
To the restaurant's credit, they tried to make things right when we raised our concerns. However, this included an admission that the food simply wasn't good, and that the staff that helped me stated that he wouldn't eat that himself. As a substitute, they brought out scallops and a different ribeye steak. However, the scallops were now overly salty, and the new steak still tough and tasteless. We gave up and asked for the check simply so we could leave and go somewhere else to get a meal. We didn't want that to be the last meal we had for 2018.
PS: The staff did try to make things right with substitutions and did take off a notable amount off the final check. However, the food quality at a supposed upscale restaurant was utterly poor, and unfortunately I cannot return to this restaurant in good faith.
I have eaten at Dragonfly twice...brunch on Christmas Day and dinner on New Year’s Eve. Both were exceptional experiences with great food and service. I will definitely be back!
Had our annual Christmas dinner there with my family the wait staff was excellent especially Tiffany, The food was excellent I hope to try something new the next time I go there.
I researched restaurants before I came in from Chicago. From the looks of this place, it’s what I was looking for. The atmosphere was beautiful and unique. When I called I was told our accommodations would be absolutely no problem. The service wasn’t my favorite. The host was lovely and sat us right away even though we were early, which came as a pleasant surprise. My server, was less than friendly. He was clearly annoyed and it seemed like he’d gotten “stuck” with us. When we sat down I noticed other tables had bread baskets, while we were not offered one. It may have just been a popular menu item, but was not listed. We did not need bread, so it’s really not a big deal, but didn’t make us feel welcomed when we observed it. He gave no recommendations and didn’t seem to know the menu well, maybe just chose to not go over it. One of the floor managers, Aaron, came over and assisted and was lovely. It was just as simple as being kind. We had a variety of food at the table including the fried chicken and red snapper. We would not recommend those choices. The potatoes were a bit undercooked, while the snapper seemed to be over cooked. The chicken was dry, and that happens from time to time. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but it wouldn’t be chosen again. The burger was a hit! I would not recommend the Provenance Merlot. Merlot is typically lower in acidity, and it didn’t quite balance out. The rest of the staff at the hotel (Zaza) were fantastic. The valet is quick and efficient, and the front desk staff are hospitable, helpful, and always seemed to be smiling. The food runners and bussers were attentive and fast. It was a busy night, that is always is a factor. With a different server I’m sure it wold be a different experience. There is a lot of potential in this establishment and seems to have a great team, I would try again.
Food was excellent. Desserts were great. Service was friendly. Crowd was eclectic. Ambiance was clever and conversation inspiring. Overall, this visit will NOT be my last!@
The food was very good but sizes are small, not a real value, the service is poor and somewhat sarcasticy, the waiter left us alone for a long time and we eventually had to pay the bill at the bar, that's when I finally paid the bill, also parking is not very good unless you want to pay valet. Had not any choices that day took a chance, won't be going back, I just find the Ambiance lacking good service.
Food is delicious. Service was late (but its Christmas) and I’m sure they are short on staff.
Lovely & enjoyable meal. Would definitely come back. Was pleasantly surprised at how cozy the atmosphere was.
It was our first time to dine at Dragonfly, and it will be our last. We arrived so excited...and left so very disappointed. The special salmon croquette appetizer was quite tasty; however, the rest of the meal was basically awful. The red snapper was tasteless--no seasoning whatsoever and the risotto was runny and soupy. The "crispy, buttermilk dipped" chicken breast was not crispy and completely without flavor. Quite frankly, it tasted like it came from a microwave as it was very rubbery. I really cannot say the service was bad--it was basically non-existent. Our server simply disappeared for times and the other staff simply ignored us. But, from my observation, other guests were equally ignored by the staff. For the hype and prices in this place, service should be close to perfect. It was not. With all the really good restaurants in the neighborhood, why anyone would dine here is beyond me. Don't waste your time or your money here. And one last thing, please ask your guests to remove their ball caps when entering the dining room. If I am spending $100 for lunch for two, I think would be nice not to look at folks wearing a gimme cap backwards.
Horrible service. I can’t begin to describe how horrifying the raw piece of fish that I was served was. The manager felt so bad that he brought out two free entrees but my appetite was gone. Took over ten minutes to get a waiters attention to tell him about the issue. Also the room was freezing and both tables on either side of me as well as me myself complained. It was uncomfortably cold with jackets on.
First time there for brunch on Christmas Day. I’ve already scheduled Ne Years Eve dinner. Superb!
The food was very good, but the service was very slow. They seemed overwhelmed with the number of guests on Christmas Eve. We waited a long time for the bottle of wine that was ordered. At the end we had to ask several times for the check. We had somewhere to be and frankly missed our ride due to the slowness of service. The server was friendly and courteous. I don’t think it was his fault, just short staffed!
The filet Oscar was fabulous. The only issue was one of attentiveness. Water glasses were often empty or low. The bread basket remained empty for a time. Finally, the wine came 5 minutes after the entree. At a $55 price point for a filet, one should receive first-rate service.
It was still a great atmosphere, and we really enjoyed ourselves. I am not gushing over the level of service.
I love the food, the service and ambience. It is definitely worth the drive (by drive, I mean the Uber). If we lived in Dallas, we would definitely go more often.
Most disappointed with the service. The server were very patronising, boarder line rude. Sides dishes only came when we almost finished our mains. We were offered free dessert as a service recovery But was charged anyway . That was when we decided to escalate the matter. Will never go back.
I took my Team there for lunch. We were the only people there. The waiter was slow slow. He finally got our order to us but didn’t fill our ice tea. Then never came back to the table. I asked for tea twice. Then after we ate I asked for a desert menu. He said they didn’t have one. I said “ you don’t have desert”? Then he told me about three desert he could bring out. 15 minutes later here it comes. By that time I just wanted out of there. The valet was the best. Great bunch of men.
The food quality and presentation was fantastic. However, our server was extremely sarcastic several times while visiting the table which really detracted from the dining experience. It's was a shame the server was off because the food and venue were great!
Great atmosphere, very lively, awesome service!! I will definitely be back!!
This was a great spot before a Symphony Show. Our host was attentive and the food was great.
Very nice restaurant and we both enjoyed the food. there was a small issue with our meal but the manager and waiter went above and beyond what we expected and treated us to make up for the mistake. We will definitely return back to try some of their other dishes
Have eaten at Dragonfly many times, always great food and service. The bar is usually hopping, lots of fun people watching.
Great great great.
First time in Dallas, stayed at the amazing hotel where is the restaurant is located! The host ( guy from Russia) was very nice and professional! Food also is good and was served quickly! I enjoyed my visit!
Food was average at best. Disappointing for the price. Service and ambience was great. Wish the meal lived up to the rest of the experience.
Had a great time at Dragonfly. The food was good and the service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The bar area was great also.
This restaurant went above and beyond for us! The main area was loud and so they put us in the wine room. They then gave us a shuttle to the symphony. The staff could not have been more accommodating
Excellent breakfast/brunch. unlike dinner time it was quiet. good service. A little pricey. dishes are $15-$20 for breakfast its a little high. Overall we enjoyed it.
Here for my daughters birthday .
Beautiful bistro. Food was nice. I loved my bolognese. Hubby's gnocchi was amazing. The only drawback were the drinks. Mine was bitter, my nephew's beer was flat, and there was an issue with a dish at the table. It was not clear about what is can be substituted and what is included.
Great place for cocktails and dining! Definitely will be back!
First time eating at the Dragonfly. We sat at the bar and had some of the best service we have ever had from Julian. He made great suggestions on all the food and drinks. The food was spectacular. Ahi Tuna Salad, enough for 2 (thank you for that tip). Shrimp Cocktail had 6 jumbo shrimp and Hamburger delicious. Traded French fries for Brussel Sprouts - some of the best in the city. Will return again.
We had the filet with roasted tomato and salmon with cauliflower both were amazing. we had drinks and dessert , loved them both. Great crowd but not loud.
I'm not sure if the Dragonfly is a Hotel Sports Bar, or a fancy restaurant. It was trying to be both, simultaneously, and it didn't work. There is a dress code to get in, but the hostess, the first person you see, was dressed in a sports jersey and booty shorts. All the girls and bartenders were dressed similarly, but the wait staff was in suits and ties. ??? The bar is separated from the restaurant by a half wall, but they have sports playing on the tv and it got pretty loud later in the night. There is a separate room for groups as part of the restaurant, but the acoustics in there are great, so it's hard to hear normal conversations. Since it was our anniversary, my husband and I opted to not sit in there. So they stuck us in a corner by the wait staff computer and the poolside exit, and ignored us. It took them half an hour to take our order after delivering our menus, another half an hour to deliver our appetizer, and after telling us about the desserts, our waiter didn't even come back. By that point the big group had left, and it wasn't very busy so there wasn't really a good excuse. We finally had to take out our credit card and put it on the table just to get our check. It took us 2 hours to eat what at most, would be a 1 hour meal. Disappointed.
This place is lovely...the setting beautiful the food delicious. I enjoy this restaurant as one of the special gems in Dallas
Amazing manager and the server.
We picked this restaurant for a friendly dinner because it had great food, great service and nice ambiance. Our table was placed between two very loud tables of mostly drunk and very loud people. Our friendly dinner was spent mostly just trying to hear the person on the other side of the table. Disappointing. Also the food was disappointing. The only good thing was our waiter, who is really outstanding. I am sorry but we won’t be back.
This was our first visit to dragonfly. We found the service and atmosphere far exceeding our expectations. We even stayed on after dinner at the pool side where we had drinks and listen to music. This little spot is a diamond in the rough make the trip it’s worth it .
