   The burger and chicken sandwich were good, the wine/beer list is top notch, and the ambiance is great. Staff was friendly. We’re out of fries which were part of my top three choices. One man’s opinion but tater tots or a tiny romaine Caesar aren’t quite substitutes. And with the new payment system, I didn’t get to see my total and was just expected to hand over my card. Im sure they’ll figure it out.

   Saturday at 12:30 was a nice time for brunch. We got the window box so felt like we were outside but had the comfort of A/C. Service and food were very prompt. Food was tasty, especially the flourless chocolate cake. We look forward to going back again!

   Food was fine, but we were disappointed to see the menu had changed. The chai spiced brioche French toast with lemon drizzle was gone - slices were a lot thinner and not as good, and some of the staples - like the two eggs meal and breakfast sandwich - were missing. Unfortunately, these items made up our usual order. Took my parents when they came to visit, and we were so excited for them to try our favorite brunch spot. We ended up with three corned beef hash, and it was very oily and not great. We used to be regulars - ordering brunch for takeout/delivery on the weekends, but with these changes on the items we used to order (and LOVE), I think we may be looking elsewhere now.

    The prior weekend my husband and I were in this area for dinner and wanted to try this place but they were all booked. That was a bummer but I totally understood so I said we would come back for my birthday and I’d make a reservation for that cool back area with the cabanas. Made a reservation for the cabana and stated that it was for my birthday. Upon arriving, we checked in and the hostess told us that we made the reservation for indoor, not at the cabana but she could still seat us outside. She sat us down at a table in the middle of everything and when I asked to change tables she said that we could only sit at the non-cabana area. After sitting for a few minutes I decided to double check the reservation. I was right and I made it for the cabana so we showed a different person and she took us there. Made me feel stupid, embarrassed for wanting to move so much and really not special as I stated that I specifically came to celebrate. Our waitress was very sweet but barely came to check in on us. We were so confused how to order our entrees but since we hadn’t seen her in what must have been 30 minutes (or longer) we decided to just order off the QR code. About 10 minutes after we did that she checked in and told us that we were supposed to have ordered with her. So that was confusing and then getting our checks to leave was confusing as well since we ordered apps/drinks with her and then entrees on the QR code. Wish she would have explained up front. Our reservation was at 7 and we did not leave until 9:30, which is absolutely insane to me. Only 1 person asked us how our our evening was and it was the guy cleaning up our plates. He said he’d have the manager come talk to us but they never came by so we left. It was truly a disappointing experience considering how excited I was to try this place. I would not come back. Food was good though.

    The dining room is very appealing. It was lovely to sit in the window and see the passers by on the sidewalk. The appetizer was a whitefish salad with crackers - small portion, tasty enough. The Caesar salad romaine was wilted (I wanted to tell chef that all it needed was a quick soak in ice water). We had 3 small plates. Asparagus were a bit overcooked and quite small for this seasonal vegetable. Best overall was the crispy rib - meaty and perfectly seasoned - delicious. Burr at a was served with crackers as well. Bread would have been a nice addition to the meal.

    Servers are very kind but not super attentive. Remote ordering system is easy but confusing with servers and makes it difficult to ask about menu options, etc. But a very pleasant atmosphere and friendly, gracious people. Good apps, salads. Would be fun to offer tots with cheese, bacon, green onions or other toppings. Great neighborhood vibe, and tons of outdoor seating options with different views/setups.

    We sat for over 30 min at the Front Porch by Evening Star before going up to hostess and figuring out we needed to order food and drink through a QR code. We sat for another 20 minutes to get the wine we ordered. Food was good but not hot. Great ambiance but service needs great attention.

    Meh. You order from your phone. Only one server. Salad had lettuce that should have been tossed the day before. Pasta was uninspired. Salmon tasted past its prime. Cocktails were decent. Restaurant almost empty on a Friday evening. Not a good sign.

    All the ordering is done by phone so there is little interaction with the waiters. You have to sign up with a 3rd party vendor in order to use the menu and order. If you need anything else, it can be hard to get anyone’s attention (at one point, we had to go and track someone down which was tricky). The food was good but not for the price (if each dish were $10 or so cheaper, I would say the value is closer to what we received). The atmosphere was quiet and there was plenty of space between tables.

    Food and service were great. Limited brunch menu, but that was what we were looking for on Mothers Day. It was too cold to sit outside and I was worried that it would be noisy and crowded but that was not the case. Classics on the menu were terrific, and host was very nice as well. Phone calls got a little incessant, why did I need to verify my reservation four times in four days, including one hour prior to the actual time?

    I took my friends here who are visiting from MD. The staff were very accommodating to us. We reserved a cabana and it’s a really good option for a small group to talk and feel somewhat private.. Food is excellent as always.

    Food was good but the service was very disorganized. Multiple errors in every aspect of the service. We took it with humor but it was actually quite ridiculous. Seems the staff had just started that day.

    We sat outside under a giant umbrella that kept us dry despite the rain. The beer selection is excellent and the food delicious, although heavier than I expected. I recommend the Front Porch - been there many times!

    Bar service was slow but table service was great. Highly recommend the cauliflower, short ribs and pork chop, but perhaps pass on the salmon.

    Great neighborhood restaurant- think it still needs some attention- the poached eggs were pre- made which is fine but they should be hot- the potatoes were meh- no love in them. My mates enjoyed the breakfast burger. Service was nice but at brunch someone should be walking around filling up coffee! We always come back and will again- just give it a little love

    First time visiting abs the food was so good! I left stuffed! A little loud but there was also a big party celebrating a birthday. Looking firearms to when it warms up and we can come back and enjoy the lovely outdoor seating

    After a disappointing visit in March, I tried again with friends. . .also to see what might have changed. Last time, I attributed some of the issues to the pandemic--a single entrance hidden off a courtyard, no one to seat us, slow service, strange food combos--and I said so in my review. This time pandemic is not an excuse. The front door was open; this time no winding our way through the courtyard then the retail wine store to get in. There was no one up front, however, and one of our party went looking for assistance. Friend A has some food concerns so she asks lots of questions and needs occasional changes made to her order. This seemed to not work well with those who served us. . .and service was uneven. Friend A's request for a glass of tonic water with limes on the side (she needs to control the level of citric acid) seemed simple but the beverage arrived with all the limes already in the drink. The salad already had dressing although she asked for it on the side (another dietary control). She asked for bread (used as a neutral base when eaten with other food) and offered to pay for it, but was told there was no bread available. I asked how they were offering sandwiches if that were the case. Turns out there was focaccia ($2 for several slices) but for some reason that was not classified as bread. Friend B ordered the chicken liver pâté that was served with cornbread. The pâté was in a little jar with a thick layer of grape jelly on top. The cornbread was in the form of madeleines (but no cornbread flavor). None of the tastes seemed to complement each other. Just when we thought Friend B was being picky, a diner at the next table said about the same dish, "This is not what I was expecting-all this grape jelly." Both Friend B and I ordered the spicy squash soup which was delightful: creamy, piquant, and very flavorful. My beet salad, which included fennel and goat cheese, was as described and quite tasty. Sad to see our neighborhood reliable become not.

    Our group of 6 adults and 2 toddlers had a great time at Evening Star Cafe. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They have made a big effort to make the space as Covid-safe as possible. The food really good - comfort food done right! We would definitely go back!

    Enjoyed the restaurant the waiter needs to read the room a bit more and clear dirty dishes off the table…. Refill the water glasses. It’s not good when you have to call the waiter over to remind them to do their job…. Mary Kelley 571-277-6114 Happy to share the waiters name if the manager calls me.

    This was not the first time our group had brunch here, but with the continued use of the scanner and self ordering from the app/uneven service/lack of untensils/cold food/it may be a while til we're back.
