Welcome to Masa & Agave, a speakeasy-style cantina hidden below stairs at the historic Hotel Ivy in Downtown Minneapolis. On Thursday's, Friday's and Saturday's from 8pm to Close we are first-come, first-served and do not accept reservations during this time.Worshipped as the Aztec gods of fertility and long life, venerated for their powers of sustenance, corn masa and agave have been central to Mexican culture and cuisine since ancient times. DANIEL DEL PRADOBorn in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Chef Daniel del Prado is the child of parents of Spanish and southern Italian descent. After moving to the United States in his early 20s, del Prado began his culinary career in Colorado—cooking at night and snowboarding during the day. Upon moving to Minneapolis, he had the opportunity to work in some of the finest kitchens in the Twin Cities. In 2009 del Prado teamed up with his mentor, Isaac Becker, to open Bar La Grassa in the North Loop. When it came time for del Prado to open his own concepts, he burst onto the Twin Cities scene with his premiere Linden Hills restaurant, Martina, and opened the Oaxacan Mexican-influenced Colita just a year after. Chef del Prado has continued to open new and innovative concepts.

    Took my Husband here for his birthday. We were torn on the menu, for so long with what we were choosing because everything sounded delicious. In a perfect world, we’d order one of everything! The service and attention to detail was outstanding. We had one issue but it was fixed promptly and with care. Kudos to all the staff at Butcher’s Tale!

    Amazing experience. Service was exceptional and the food, oh the food!!! Everything we had left us wanting more. The salads even left us in awe. I’ll be coming back soon. Make sure to stop at the Flora Room below before or after for a drink too!

    We opted to sit at the bar because we like interacting with the bartenders. They were very friendly and helpful with our order. Since I'm not a tequila fan, it was recommended that I try the Pepino Martini. It was awesome!! My husband liked the food more than I did (for me...it was just above average). If my husband convinces me to go back, I will try something other than the quesadilla.
