Best Historic Restaurants in Mass Ave

The food was outstanding, as expected for a place that’s been doing it since 1902. We Chat GPT’d best steakhouse in Indy and St Elmo was a clear winner. We now know why. Shrimp cocktail was on point and steaks and salad were terrific. Love love love the simple menu. But what put the experience over the top was our server Doug. He was so kind, so attentive, had amazing recommendations for food and drinks, and he even went out of his way (for any server in any restaurant) on a few items after our meal to make our visit to both St Elmo and Indy extra special. I guarantee the restaurant doesn’t require him to do the things he did but that’s just the guy he is. My guess is that much of the staff is just like Doug. If you like finer dining, great meat and meals and great service, and are visiting Indy, St Elmo has to be on the list. Enjoy!

We had an absolutely amazing dining experience at Tinker Street! Our server, David, was exceptional. He had great recommendations at each stage/course. We loved the upscale casual vibe of the restaurant. We started with the Fried Chicken & Caviar, which were flavorful and zippy, due to the jalapeño honey. The Korean Fried Mushrooms were fantastic. We selected the Airline Chicken (which ended up being my favorite) and the Center Cut Ribeye (which my fiancé loved!). For dessert, we opted for the Banana Pudding and Ricotta Doughnuts. I'm STILL dreaming of the doughnuts. Spectacular! I'll take 14 of them right now.

I can honestly say this was an outstanding experience. The atmosphere was amazing, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely top-notch. From the moment we arrived until we left, everything exceeded our expectations. It also happened to be our anniversary, and they went above and beyond to make it special. They truly took great care of us, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend this establishment and will definitely be returning.
