    The special chicken dinner at Troutbeck, created by Chef Vinnie, is a whole roasted chicken, savoring fingerlings, and a gem lettuce salad with crunchy seed topping. It serves 2 or 4, and we brought a good deal home. We began with one of the most delicious soups I've ever tried - an intensely chicken broth in which mushrooms, baby turnips and peas floated, not too many, just enough to remind you how lovely are the things summer gives us. The chicken was roasted with rosemary to be tender within, crispy without. What a bargain at $100!

    We went to Kips for Father's Day brunch, and we had a wonderful experience! We have been there several times and had great meals, and this was no exception. We were fortunate enough to be able to sit on the patio and watch the river and the trains during our time there. Our server was so kind, patient, and helpful, and our food was delicious. A couple of us had the omelet with Boursin and roasted potatoes on the side, which we enjoyed thoroughly. Other choices in our party were the chocolate chip waffle, the breakfast biscuit sandwich, yogurt and granola, and the daily quiche special. We were all pleased with how our dishes tasted. A family favorite is the bread pudding, which we all shared. It received rave reviews, even from people who normally do not order bread pudding.
