Believed to date back to the 17th century the Horse & Groom was originally used to house local farmer workers, with the increase in horse drawn traffic using the old Hastings Road the property was utilised to offer weary travellers a place to rest and stable their horse ready for their onward journey. It then, and has to this date, become known as the Horse and Groom . Free of tie, the pub now offers the traditional country pub fair, set in the glorious surroundings of Rushlake Green, with its picturesque village properties encircling the village green, centre of the villages attraction and host to many winter and summer events. We started Namo in 2020 from our home kitchen in Brighton. It was lockdown, and cooking became our way to stay connected: sharing real Thai food made fresh, with care and good ingredients. People welcomed what we were doing, and before long, we moved into The Eagle Pub, where Namo began to grow. The food, the energy, and the people around it gave us the confidence to dream bigger.Now, at 24 Ship Street, the food we create comes from our founder’s roots in northern Thailand from her memories, her journey, and the flavours she grew up with.
