Oh, you wanted a restaurant description? Sorry. Can’t really help you there. We’re not so big on labels. Our food is hard to nail down as we are constantly evolving and entirely seasonal and personal. We’ve used “Food you eat” as a tag line on occasion and that remains accurate. We could also describe it as “Food we really want you to eat”. When you’re here, tell us what you would call it.
As always all ordered was delicious and great service!
Extremely delicious meals with a beautiful selection of wines from different countries. Superb service and most everything is also gluten free. Highly recommend
Incredible ambience and service.
Favorite neighborhood restaurant. Amazing food. Wonderful staff. Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options. Just the best. That’s all.
This restaurant is a neighborhood jam it's small and artisinal. They obviously care a lot about their food and beverages. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. There are lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options. If you are a wine geek they tend to have some rather esoteric wines on their list. This is a great restaurant for a great dining for a great date
As the saying goes, good food, friendly people. It's always been that way for me, for more than 25 years.
Nothing run-of-the-mill about the menu nor the food. Very delicious.
Waitress was really personal and easy to work with!
Wonderful time. Our server was in a bind needing our 4top spot (we were 3). He asked us if we'd move for some free wine making it a win-win for everyone. Well handled and we had a wonderful meal too. I love a professionally run restaurant.
Firefly is our favorite San Francisco restaurant. We go there on "date" nights, with friends and family and even for work group dinners. We are never disappointed. Our server, Jane, was exceptional making our latest dinner at Firefly another delicious and delightful experience.
Our family favorite for over 20 years; many happy occasions celebrated here, with never a letdown. Our daughter is a vegetarian, & eats as well as we do here — the vegetarian options are fully realized & not an afterthought/even tempting for carnivores.
Loved this neighborhood gem for 25 years. It has quintessential San Francisco charm and an eclectic ever-changing menu so you never tire from its delights.
Food was great. Service was not attentive.
Wonderful little spot for a date or meet up with a friend. Not overly priced. Beautiful, healthy food, and cool atmosphere. The service was fantastic! You don't have to spend a fortune to have a special night in the city. Loved it.
Had the braised lamb, brussel sprouts and the chocolate crepe with banana ice cream. All 3 items were amazing! The braised lamb was so tender and soft and the sauce that came with it was nice and creamy. Will definitely come back for all 3 items again.
The food and atmosphere at Firefly is always amazing. I love the daikon radish cakes and brussel sprouts are 2 favorites. Dinner with old friends-we were able to hear each other easily, and our waiter was understanding as we took a long time to look at the menu as we caught up. A neighborhood gem!
Our family was all in town so we had dinner together- it was amazing! Loved the service too.
Always a delight to eat there with friends. Great ambiance and delicious and satisfying food.
I have celiac and got to eat fried chicken for the first time since I was diagnosed! Food was great our waitress was very knowledgable about celiac and her friendly personality added to the great dinning experience. Thank you!
What a marvel! So much of this experience was perfect! First, the environment - cozy not cramped, just the right amount of sound, and lighting that is so embracing and soothing! The service was so welcoming, focused and kind, felt like the best part of being home! The food was truly special. 4 of us ate a wonder of food, everything was perfect. The Japanese sweet potato tostones were so very special, especially for me who grew up eating Cuban tostones, these were a world of delicious apart! The Moqueca Baiana was a warm delight for a cold day! When desert time came, nothing could be more perfect than that not one but ALL of the deserts were gluten free! Again, the attention to craft in the kitchen is stunning, this is a very special place.
We live in Noe Valley and have been customers of Firefly since it opened. Our dinner on Thursday night was excellent. Firefly continues to serve interesting healthy food in a very comfortable friendly setting.
Great bartender and delicious food !
Nice neighborhood spot!
Everything was perfect! I asked for a cozy spot in the restaurant and we were seated at a table that resembled a kitchen nook with pillows in the window. It was perfect for a cozy/comfortable evening, and the staff made great suggestions for dinner and wine. It could not have been any better!
I absolutely love this restaurant. The food never fails. Amazing appetizers, desert and the best fried chicken!
Firefly comes off as a neighborhood hangout/restaurant, but that implies its "simple". Every dish they make is consistently delicious and impressive. I am happy to have this in the regular rotation. If you have any dietary restrictions (gluten/dairy/etc..), they are super helpful and make sure you leave full / happy.
Awesome food and great team!
One of the absolute gems of neighborhood dining in SF.
Amazing food. Lots of gluten free options.
I love you, Firefly.
Really happy with my Valentines Day date. It was busy which was to be expected and the food was all really tasty. A few hiccups about the timing of the appetizer/reminding the waiters what we ordered but a good experience overall.
Delicious! Almost entirely gluten free menu.
This cozy Noe neighborhood spot is officially a favorite one of mine, after my recent, third trip there - this time for Valentine’s dinner with my husband. Playful artwork, candles, (plus rose petals everywhere this visit) as well as branch sculptures and twinkle lights create a romantic glow that complements the creative menu. The approachable and knowledgeable staff gave highly accurate descriptions of our wine options. Rotating, unique (but small) dishes incorporate lots of rich vegetable and fish options. Written menu has whimsical touches, adding to the casual vibe - but food is complex and beautifully presented.
Valentines dinner....greeted by rose petals in the entrance on the ground, front of house staff all wearing pink shirts, and the magical combination of warm, caring service matched by delicious creative food.
Squash soup, complex flavors paired with orange Greek wine
Seed bread with “yummy” spread
Crab cake, arugula and fennel salad
And, the entire meal was wheat free!
I love this place and try to go whenever I come home to visit my Dad. Food is superb, and waitstaff is wonderful.
We held a business dinner (faculty recruitment for a position in our School of Medicine).
The table though small still held all 6 of us, and the noise level was not too loud, which allowed for thoughtful business discussion.
Food accommodated 3 who are vegetarians in our group.
Firefly is a nice neighborhood restaurant. The food was prepared well, but some of the portions were skimpy, especially for the price. For example, we ordered the crab cake. The crab cake was really really small and it cost $18.00. The servers were not overly friendly nor dismissive. They were rather neutral. Overall, it's a cute restaurant that prepares food fairly well but it is pricy. I would not return because there was absolutely nothing really outstanding or compelling about the experience, food, or wait staff.
Neighborhood gem! Service and food are outstanding. The most gluten-friendly, too.
Wonderful ambience. Delicious lamb and crab cake. Wines are reasonably priced. Service was attentive.
