Oh, you wanted a restaurant description? Sorry. Can’t really help you there. We’re not so big on labels. Our food is hard to nail down as we are constantly evolving and entirely seasonal and personal. We’ve used “Food you eat” as a tag line on occasion and that remains accurate. We could also describe it as “Food we really want you to eat”. When you’re here, tell us what you would call it.
Delicious food and friendly staff. The best, most reliable gluten-free, Celiac-friendly food in the Bay Area.
This was our first time at Firefly since moving to the neighborhood about 6 months ago. Everyone and everything was perfect. The owner/host was so sweet and gracious. Our waitress Molly was so sweet, helpful, and cheerful. The food was yummy!!!!
They make the best fried chicken with biscuits.
Our server was very up beat and friendly. She was a rarity among servers.
Went to firefly on Sunday night with a friend & we both had a really lovely time. The food was amazing, we shared the crab cake for starters, had a main each, I had the moqueca & my friend had the enchiladas. Then we shared the brownie & scoop of fig ice cream for dessert. They have a huge wine list & the waitress helped us select the perfect bottle. After dinner we added some more glasses of wine as the atmosphere was so nice we didn’t want to leave. Would definitely recommend & will definitely be back.
Food as always was amazing. From the vegan option to the meat n potatoes. Desserts are a must have too
It is my new favorite restaurant in San Francisco! Brilliant menu, incredible service. Warm, lovely place to be. Could have spent the whole night there eating everything on the menu. Wonderful new flavors, plentiful, diverse, fun. Came away very impressed and still talking about it. Do you have a cook book? Wish I could make some of the dishes again this evening -- particularly the daikon cakes with mushrooms and the amazing cauliflower bread with lentils. Many thanks for such a thoughtful, delicious meal and most importantly a wonderful experience for us all.
This is our all-out favorite neighborhood restaurant - and first choice for any special occasion. The last one was my husband's birthday. The food was absolutely scrumptious and so unusual! It's a menu that changes frequently, but I do hope they never ever do away with the brussel sprouts or the Japanese sweet potato tostones appetizers.
Great waitress. Fabulous food’
Such a nice neighborhood restaurant. Good food and nice feeling
this was an affirmatively bland meal which is unusual for this restaurant. The fried chicken tasted great but the sides were dull. The beef short ribs were well cooked but the meat had no flavor and the spatzle were the same. The sauce was nice on that dish. The cauliflower flat bread was saved by the sausage topping. I expect better from this restaurant. Sunday night problem perhaps?
We have been going to Firefly for years and the quality has always been superb! I love that it caters to gluten free people. It is hard to find great, truly gluten free restaurants. LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!
Had not been there for quite some time and it was a joy to have such a nice experience. The service was as excellent as the food.
I love this place. Fresh ingredients, great atmosphere, fantastic people. Every friend I bring loves it too and becomes a patron :)
It was our first time and we were pleasantly surprised but the ambiance and great service. However the meal was okay. The fried chicken was crispy but lacked flavor and my husband's short ribs (or meat dish) was on the dry side. I think the kitchen might have had an off night. We might try it again...
The Acme bread and spread was delish. Fried chicken did not disappoint. Comfortable atmosphere, feels like family hen you walk in.
Greats service, nice atmosphere, not loud. In a nice neighborhood.
Small table for 6 people with a reservation. Otherwise, great service and food.
New Year’s Eve.
Special place for an early new years eve dinner, offering great wines by glass and half bottle and many enticing food choices.
We always love it @ Fire Fly. Delicious. Nutritious. Friendly.
A veritable institution in Noe Valley. The food is great, the service attentive yet low-key, and the space itself is beautiful. Good vegetarian options, too.
Locals place in Noe Valley where we used to live. Food was still good but it’s more casual than special in terms of creativity and service!
We had wonderful service with a delightful waitress! We enjoyed all our food choices, and there were great choices for vegetarians. I love coming to Firefly and have never been disappointed.
There wasn't a lot on the menu and it was quite expensive. Most of us got the ribs or the chicken. The ribs weren't the tastiest, I felt like my friend could make something better. The chicken was just standard fried chicken... I could have gotten KFC or airfry my own chicken. Overall, the ambiance and service were nice but the food was eh. I wouldn't go back again unless someone wanted to.
Food was amazing. Lots of veggie and vegan options! Service was great!!
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant with exceptional dishes, choices and ambiance
A unique and delicious menu. A real neighborhood gem.
Overall the restaurant offered a variety of dishes. The waitress was very pleasant and told us they were known for Mary's Chicken so my friend ordered it ,not quite a as good as the Way fare Tavern in S.F.
I opted for the crusted Ahi Tuna accompanied by sauteed veggies and a bed of spinach, one of the best dishes I have ever eaten . I would go back again, but not to recommend the chicken with so many more exciting dish's on the menu to chose from.
Service was excellent.
We've been enjoying Firefly for 20 years now (!). While the prices have definitely gone up over that time, the food quality and overall experience remains consistently wonderful. The evolving menu allows diners to try new options (amazing kale/potato/cremini enchiladas verde!), while still saving old favorites (yummy spread with bread!). The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy, but refreshingly unpretentious. Always a great choice for a memorable night.
Get the Japanese sweet potato tostones best thing on earth.
I can't say enough about Firefly! The food has always been creative. While they have always had at least one vegetarian option, recently I was impressed with the number of vegan options throughout the menu. Why is this important? At a time when we know that avoiding meat and dairy products is the single biggest way to reduce our environmental impact on the planet, I will support restaurants that promote vegan alternatives. The daikon radish cakes and kale salad were both amazing, as were the enchiladas verde. That the chocolate cake was also plant based was delightful. Thank you Firefly!
My wife and I had a memorable anniversary dinner at Firefly. They were SUPER accommodating of our kinda quirky requests in terms of food choices and they were one of the most attentive staff we've seen.
The chef is a wizard! It doesn't matter if you are a vegetarian/vegan, I highly recommend that you try their lentil, walnut and plantain kugel!
One of the few restaurants where everything we tried was amazing and the entire time we were there, we had a fantastic time. We highly recommend Firefly for your next dinner!
Great service, friendly staff, and always good food with seasonal choices. Always a pleasure to dine there.
For the 1st time in several years, owner Brad was there at opening at 5:30pm & as host, greeting customers himself. He wasn’t very engaging, I guess energy & warmth fades over time? Food was good, but definitely slowly slipping. Even advertised Hanukkah latkes not as good as those we made at home just days before, not very warm or crunchy. Salad yummy but not unique. Menu Mahi Mahi switched to Sea Bass that night, a bit fishy even. We skipped desserts as none seemed worth the calories. We got a $3 yummy & memorable brownie minutes later down the street. Oh well, the old days...just memories nowadays. Maybe some new energy there would help...
Great food and service
Firefly is one of my favorite San Francisco restaurants. The food always tastes great!! The chef constantly changes the items on the menu. The menu is always varied, with choices no matter the individual's food preferences. The dishes are inventive and well presented.
Gr at food and such nice people. We always love coming to this farm to table locally owned restaurant! The menu changes all the time so always a surprise! Highly recommend
I really enjoy all dishes i tried, food was great. Only bad thing was that our server was not friendly or approachable at all. Very sad because I had the opposite experience when me and my husband ate at the bar last time.
Outstanding! Will be back next time we are in town.
