In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

    This was an awesome place. We did not know anything about Hearsay. The bar across the street recommended them. We had the Kung Pao calamari and shrimp as an appetizer and it was amazing. We also had the crab crusted redfish and the ribeye and both were cooked to perfection with lots of flavor. We are from the Dallas area and we were excited to find out that one of these restaurants will be coming to our area. I highly recommend this place.

    Wonderful place! Deserves the good reviews and then some. We were so pleased the first night that we immediately booked again for the next night! Seafood is so fresh as are all of the sides, appetizers etc. I was feeling steak the second eve and the filet was hands down the best I’ve had anywhere and we’ve eaten at top notch restaurants nation wide! It just melted in your mouth. It was end of crab season so we ordered everything we could with crab and again was not disappointed. Service was impeccable and ambience was perfect. If we ever return to Galveston we’ll eat here again more than once! Also the dining on the island is really great but this was our top pick overall after 6 days there and stopping at most of the best places. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

    The food is fabulous. So fresh. It is so loud it is hard to talk. Prices are too high as well. We are retired and only splurge like this once in a while. If it wasn’t so loud it would have been much more enjoyable. Overall though we enjoyed it

    We thoroughly enjoyed our formal dinner on the first night of our anniversary getaway. Jose and servers assisting were attentive, but unobtrusive. Manhattans were drier than most due to inclusion of dry vermouth. Complimentary plantain chips and dips were a good South American start. Generous serving of ceviche brought back memories of Mexico with strong lime. Shrimp cocktail was four good-sized perfect shrimp. Pargo (what we call huachinango) entrees were great: grilled with green cilantro cream on the side, and baked with lemon garlic (maybe a little salty). My glass of Peregrine sauvignon blanc was the perfect wine. The chocolate cake with ice cream and a couple of espressos--who could ask for more!
