Featuring an ever changing mix of seasonally driven small plates, tapas, and larger dishes, alongside a menu of craft cocktails, great wines by the glass and the bottle, and non-alcoholic options, Canteen is the "Urban Oasis" Menlo Park has been clamoring for.     We’ve been wanting to come here for ever and finally did! Sadly it wasn’t quite as good as we expected. The service was ok, not very friendly or attentive. The prime rib at $55 was not prepared as my friend asked - it was bloody when he asked for medium rare more towards the medium side. Don’t order the $20 calamari - it’s small and rubbery. The tikki masala chicken was very good, and the halibut was excellent

    Dinner at the bar. Server was delightful and knowledgeable and Italian. Made great pairing recommendation that we probably wouldnt have made without his advice. The vongole en croute appetizer is huge - feels like it should lumped in with pizzas or mains but it is not to be missed. I find that Grilled octopus is hard to pull off and they do it very well.

    We do an annual “nice” dinner with our friends and this year it was very last minute. I picked Left Bank because it’s reliable and not hard to book. I told them it was kind of ordinary compared to our usual fare. Was I ever surprised! It was terrific, comfortable and perfect to catch up with our friends. The food was awesome; beef bourguignon, trout, Niçoise salad and seafood pasta. Lemon tarts for dessert. Our waiter was good and it was a memorable time in a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy our dinner.

    Excellent food. Pleasant surroundings. Noise level high. Not always so but big group of Gen Z/Millenials who think they rented the entire restaurant. No thought about others. Our waiter didn't hear part of our order because of the noise.
