Beautiful venue with amazing views. Took my good friend to birthday lunch here and was very nice! Great food and they treated us well. We will definitely be coming back.
Nice atmosphere ; a little noisy on inside. Very good and friendly service. Food was fresh and delicious but a little overpriced for what it was.
I would recommend it for people who love views. The staff clearly favoured 'regulars' and treated them like old friends while the rest of us who go less frequently had to ask 2-3 times for attention. The price is too high for the food, but the glamorous feeling you get simply being at Barneys is worth something. Nice place overall. Worth a visit to see the L.A. skyline from there.
great ambiance and delicious food. the banana bread pudding was amazing.
It is a great place for a small business lunch, lunch with girlfriends or a quiet get away just for you. The waiters are not intrusive and you do not feel rush to order or leave. The ambience is wonderful and it is a fun place to people watch. It is also a whose who place. Plus, it is a great place to shop afterwards.
Would I recommend Fred's to a friend? That depends on whether the friend and companion wanted to have a conversation over a meal. The noise level in the dining room is deafening. The decibel level could do serious damage to one's hearing. It's criminal that the designer was allowed to use so many hard surfaces. The terrace is the only place to be.
Fred's has one of the best views around and the food is top quality. It's one of my favorite spots in Beverly Hills.
Salad wasn't what it used to be. tuna overcooked, dressing tasteless.
Food was ordinary and very pricey...$88 without tip for 2 salads (with mostly lettuce) a coffee and a cappuccino. Tried it when it first opened and thought the same thing. No third strike. Ambiance is 0, except outside.
To put my comments in perspective, we have eaten at most of the restaurants on the west side and I have not complained about price before.
Our server, Julie, however was attentive and gracious. Hope she gets paid well from the expensive meal.
Bring back Barney Greengrass! I live nearby, eat out a lot and would love to have a decent restaurant in this venue again.
Hostess rude. Early lunch reservation & sat us by the elevators. Customers entering after us were taken into the dining room. I asked for a different table. She said "we're very busy." I could see the empty tables from my booth. I said, "I know. I have a reservation." She walked away, spent time in the dining room, spent time talking to waiters before eventually returning & saying sullenly, "follow me." We sat in one of the empty tables in the dining room. Server slow to approach. Bread not offered. Forced to ask. Busboy miserable. Noise level unbearable as always.
The restaurant was very busy so our server was not as attentive as we would've liked but she had a lot of tables! Otherwise it was overall a great experience.
I booked a table at 11AM and arrived to find the restaurant doesn’t open until 11:30 on Sunday, couldn’t wait as we were enroute to the airport.
You should get these details correct!!
Every experience at Fred’s is great! Host and waitress were both super kind and attentive, and even the bartender as we waited for our table. Fabulous time, as always ❤️
Turkey burger was how not good at all
Been several times; will go again ... and again. Pizza marguerita exceptional; good soups & salad choices.
Best asian chicken salad in LA. Everybody enjoyed their orders. The star plates were the club sandwich, pomme frites, and of course asian chicken salad
Salmon was absolutely delightful but overpriced
It was very nice. Best french fries in my entire life!!!!!! The waiter could have been a little more attentive.
Excellent food and exquisite service. Never disappoints!
very slow to get seated
Best fish platter in town
Incredible service and delicious omelette! Delightful Sunday brunch!
Let me first begin by telling you I am a long time Barney's shopper. My experience yesterday was not acceptable and I will NEVER eat there again. I had mentioned when I booked that my lunch was to celebrate a birthday and I made the reservation for the early side, noon. When I arrived I saw my friend had been seated at the worst table in the room, the one where we had the pleasure of watching the kitchen door swing open and where every waiter, busboy and patrons bumped our table and chairs throughout this dismal lunch.
When I saw where the table was, I immediately asked your snotty hostess for another table, explaining my reasons for wanting another table. According to her, there was not another single table (which was not true) and she acted as though I had asked her to donate kidney when I requested they at least remove the additional chairs so people would stop knocking into them. Then, halfway through our lunch she seated two very young women about six inches from us. And they had a huge, smelly, dirty dog with them. Since when do you allow big dogs into the restaurant???
My friends and I eat out multiple times per week. Unfortunately, Fred's will no longer be part of the list. You might want to tell your staff to cool it with the snotty, hipper-than-thou attitude. A little goes a very long way.
Social Family dining
Very disappointed with the turkey burger. Was planning to bring a group of friends for my birthday but I was mot happy. I have been having stomach pains and discomfort.
Very understaffed the day we were there. Food is mediocre and the ambiance of the restaurant is nothing special. We’ve eaten at Fred’s several times and it continues to disappoint.
the service was very slow
40 minutes just to get a soup .
it's not the first time ,
and probably not the last .
Good view and food
Much too noisy. Service was good. Food and menu very average
Great food. Good sized portions. Accommodating staff. Terrific.
Service was so so, food is ok but overpriced for what you get.
Food and service was great! Looking forward to going back.
Great as always. Would love the vegetarian French onion soup on the menu all of the time.
Keep going back; think that says it all. Had Palm Springs salad; Asian chicken salad still my fave.
Ever since Barney's opened in 1993, I've been wanting to have a meal @ Fred's so finally this past Monday I took a dear colleague & friend for an early dinner and we were the LEAST disappointed. Both of us are pretty much creatures of habit @ other nearby establishments, as well as in Downtown LA & Pasadena but we were only disappointed we hadn't been here earlier. Michael has been the best server we've ever had at all our water holes [perhaps a close tie to the staff @ The Peninsula] so I hope Barney's management reads this, giving us the undivided attention being 1st timers there. I definitely recommend this jewel and if the weather is pleasant w/out their requiring to have the heaters on, you can't beat the hor d'oeuvres with the perfect aperitif, a good meal with good colleagues and/or friends then dessert.
This is a great place to have lunch, even better when the weather permits you to eat outside. The Beverly Hills Club Sandwich is spectacular.
The host or manager Whalid makes that place. He is the Mr Rourke (80’s show Fantasy Island) of Fred’s ensuring everything is good. The server, Dannon was patient and very attentive. The food is top notch.
Always enjoy Fred’s sometimes more than others. This was an “others.” Reqguested a window table, was given a table in the corner - hardly a window table. Ordered linguini vongole - more than adequate amt. of clams, but linguini was a bit dry was tastier as take home.
Tyron was great, food and drinks awesome! Best Bloody Mary in BH!
