Gastro Pub | State College, Central Pennsylvania

It’s definitely one of the best high-end restaurants at State College. The decoration is great though a little bit dark in general. We came to Barrel 21 at the valentine’s day, and the special 5 courses meal was $75 per person. The test was good, as I rated 4/5, but I would say it’s a little bit over priced. $200 for this dinner, including alcohol, tips and tax, was more expensive than it worth. But, after all, living in a small town like State College doesn’t leave us many choices, and Barrel 21 would be one of my best choice for special occasions. More

We were in town for a football game and had a great dinner here on Friday night. Great food and cute atmosphere. We had no trouble hearing each other and it fit our needs perfectly that night. It sits behind another building - so it is a little tricky to find. Our waitress was a little sour - however, everyone else was super friendly. More

Steakhouse | State College, Central Pennsylvania

We shared a raspberry vinaigrette salad as our starter, which was good. For entrees we ordered salmon and the Mahi-mahi. Both were excellent. Service was excellent. We had a nice meal and will definitely return. When we first were seated, we were placed at a table for two by two windows in the room off to the right. It was so cold and drafty by the windows, we asked to move and were readily accommodated. Later, another diner was seated at that table and she kept her coat on during her entire meal. And, a third couple was seated at the very next table and quickly asked to be reseated. Given the obvious discomfort in this section, I suggest the owners look into some energy efficient windows, or a way to keep the cold air from blowing so directly on guests. Customers will be happier, your hosts wouldn’t have to keep reshuffling people, and the business will save money on its energy bill. Problem solved. More
