This was our first visit to Gamba. Not sure why it took us so long, but we will be back again for sure. Food was amazing, service was awesome. Jeramiah was so great.
Went here for Mother's Day Lunch. The ambiance was great, but the variety of food was disappointing for a buffet of this price. Also very little flexibility as far as gluten free, dairy free, or veg options.
My fiance' and I went for a quick Saturday night dinner. We arrived about 5:45, and were promptly seated. By 6:30, there were no open tables left....get there early or make a reservation!
We ordered 3 appetizers: Oysters, Buffalo Mozzarella, and the soup special, which was a dill potato leek.
They arrived quickly. The oysters were fresh and tasty. The soup was absolutely AMAZING. I wanted to go into the kitchen and high-five the chef....it was that good. The Buffalo Mozz was just a Caprese salad with 3 small slices of hard, tasteless tomatoes topped with cheese, olive oil, and avocado. For $17 dollars, I felt like this was a ripoff. I get that tomatoes aren't in season in the Midwest in early May, but if you can't source good ones, take it off the menu until summer.
The service was noticably slower after our apps...as the restaurant had filled up. I ordered a Grouper special and my fiance ordered a spicy sausage rigatoni.
The grouper was moist, flaky, and cooked perfectly. It was swimming in a caper sauce that was a bit off....it was a mushy, green, chunky, loose paste. It looked a tad gross, but had a decent flavor. It would have probably worked better as a light garnish on top of the fish, instead.
The sausage rigatoni was as expected.
Overall, it was a pleasant meal and a positive experience. Would def go back again.
Best restaurant in Northwest Indiana!
From the management through the service staff; and from the chef to the table setting, this isthe absolute best restaurant I have ever been in.
Had the table in the wine room which was perfect! Delicious and beautiful desserts made by the pastry chef Elizabeth that were amazing!
Visited for the Easter Buffet... It wasn’t a huge buffet. I would have loved a salad bar. But, the items on the buffet were all very well executed. Nicely prepared prime rib, stuffed turkey breast and to die for tortellini. Stuffed croissant French toast was a little loose but the flavors were definitely there. The cost was too high for the selections available —$35-$38.95 would have been more appropriate.
Food was excellent, my pork tenderloin was cooked perfectly, we shared a buccatini amatriciana and it was excellent. Bread was the way I love it---crusty and not doughy. Waiter was attentive without hovering. This was the fourth time I've eaten at Gambas and every time has been excellent. Highly recommend it.
This is a place I have visited often and is my "go to" place for that special meal with special friends. I have NEVER been disappointed and have ALWAYS been impressed with the chief's preparation and the waiter's presentation. The wine list is not as comprehensive as it once was, but it is still has an adequate spectrum to accommodate meal choice as well as price range. The specialty cocktails are outstanding.
Excellent as always. Great food, service and atmosphere.
Had the best lasagna I’ve ever had. Courses were paced right, service was great, ambiance was wonderful
Great experience at Gamba. Food was awesome. Our server Josh was really great, will request him every time we are there.
The food was good, the service was EXCELLENT!!! Josh was our waiter, if you want a extremely professional dining experience, ask for Josh to be your waiter and sit back and enjoy, you’ll definitely have a delightful evening.
Excellent soup to nuts and service was excellent as usual.
Always a pleasant dinner, excellent food.
Everything was par excellence! The owners' integrity is evident in their commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience with an unparalleled attention to quality and detail. We are grateful!
Nicky was our service he forgot about our table through the evening also we paid for the meal left and he followed us to our car and said we took his copies of the receipts when they were in his pocket . Worst service ever
I can’t remember what it was called but it was the wing of a Manta Ray and it was phenomenal!
Everything was just as delicious and amazing as always.
The food is amazing and the service is great. The owner always makes sure your experience is excellent.
the best restaurant in the region by far, love going
Early Valentine’s dinner. Impeccable food and service, as always.
My husband and I went for an early Valentines dinner on a Tuesday evening. We were greeted and sat quickly, met by a knowledgeable and friendly waiter, Josh. The food and service were both AMAZING. We started with the roasted Brussels sprouts... delicious! My husband had the N.Y. strip, which was served with mashed red potatoes and green beans. I had the short rib ravioli. I can’t even say which was better. Get both. We finished dinner with their house made Creme brûlée. We can’t wait to come back to try other items. Nothing negative to say about the whole experience! We will be back!
Owner was ultra helpful. We made a reservation and when we arrived the owner let us know our table would be ready soon. We went to the bar for drinks. He came over again to let us know our table was paying their bill. Asked waiter for recommendation I ordered one of the dishes he recommended. I absolutely loved it and I know I would not have ordered it otherwise. I love this restaurant. Always make reservations
We have dined at Gamba several times now. We first merely stumbled upon the place when traveling from Chicago to home. The service has always been superb and the food as well.
Everything is always perfect at Gamba’s. The food is amazing! Service is best in the region, by far.
The best restaurant in Merrillville and would stand its own against any downtown Chicago restaurant.
We had a terrific meal and Harasen was a delightful server.
This was our second trip to Gamba to celebrate a birthday, we took our 17 year old daughter with us this time. It is an outstanding place to eat, one of the best in NW Indiana and better than most of the finer Italian restaurants in Chicago and Los Angeles that I have eaten at. The decor is very elegant although perhaps a little bland to some people's tastes, but it promotes quiet conversation so its good for a more intimate dinner. The food is absolutely outstanding, we ordered a wide variety of things and everything was superb. Risottos seem to be a bit of a speciality for them, we had one that was superb leading up to our main courses. The offerings in the restaurant do not necessarily match the menus that you can find online, but you can get an idea of the range and sorts of things they offer by looking at the virtual menus that are available. The wine list is also really excellent, with a range of good wines in a variety of price categories. We ordered a Barbaresco in the $50 range which was very good and an excellent price for that kind of wine at that quality level. You can spend more or less. Service was impeccable, very attentive without being intrusive. It is a more expensive place to eat but I think the prices are extremely reasonable given the quality of the food. Absolutely recommended, especially for special occasions!
We were celebrating a birthday, with a party of 5. Although it is a bit confusing to find the entrance to the dining area, the restaurant itself is charming, clean and obviously is a well attended 'hot spot'. This was on a Saturday night and they unfortunately were out of 2 or 3 major items on the menu. The service was commendable and professional. I would go back to this restaurant, when in this area.
Unwilling to accommodate vegetarian requests and talked down to customers. Wait staff being trained on the floor in front of customers. I was incredibly disappointed in the lack of respect and unwelcoming nature of the establishment. I was not accommodated and when requested the staff member answered “um. No.” I left this establishment incredibly disappointed and as if my needs were not only insignificant but unworthy of accommodation, which is unacceptable from a place trying to make it appear to be incredibly upscale.
What a great place food , ambiance, very professional with a personal touch... our new favorite place #1
We got engaged at your restaurant! It was a very special night!
One of our favorite restaurants!! The food and service are outstanding!!!
Top notch food and service.
Very organized and perfect timing on food.
We change our reservations to 7:30, everyone was fabulous and the food was delicious as always!
Excellent as always!
The food was good but the service was below what you would expect from a restaurant like this. We had to ask for bread twice before we ever got any, the waiter never checked on us once we had our meals. He couldn’t recommend a cocktail. He seemed very uncomfortable.
