In the beautiful surroundings of Hélène Darroze's two Michelin-starred restaurant at The Connaught, her lifelong passion for the finest produce and incredible skill is reflected in every aspect of one of Mayfair's most intimate dining experiences. Each day, Hélène selects the very best and freshest ingredients from the network of suppliers she has spent a lifetime gathering, and cooks them with precision, honesty and passion. The resulting menu celebrates the tastes and textures of the most stunning individual produce, prepared in a way that allows each ingredient to shine. At the heart of this whole experience is trust. It starts with the trust that Hélène places in her suppliers, to provide her with exceptional produce, of impeccable seasonality and provenance. And it extends to the diners, who place their trust in Hélène's culinary skill by selecting from the simple list of exceptional ingredients available that day, to be served as a succession of impeccably realised dishes.

The chess menu was quite cool and fun, keeping people engaged. However, waiters still used old-school-writing-down-what-I-put-in-the-chess method to take my order. It feels bit meaningless and funny. I guess they can take away the chess and put order in the computer straightaway. Please don't write down orders in front of customers as it ruins the whole mystery.

The food is fine, though sometimes go extreme, e.g extremely insipid(prawn, I know you are trying to emphasize the taste of the prawn itself but I barely can taste anything)/heavy(lamb, try it and you will know what I'm talking)/acidic(lemon and yes I dislike it as not many people can stand to eat a lemon raw)/sweet(chocolate). Please keep working on balance and try not to go too extreme. I enjoy the pigeon most during my dinner. It was different from else where and I can really feel the freshness of the pigeon in my mouth. The foie gras was also nice, light and delicious.

Last but not least, waiters are like buzzy bees and are too busy taking away the plate/put up new cutlery. Slowing down a bit would be better and not making us feel"please finish it asap and i want to take away your dish".

Finally, I really enjoy the spiced butter with the bread. Could you suggest the name of the butter and where to buy?

Thank you.

Very attentive staffs and comfortable seating. Their hake is exceptionally good. Wide selection of high-quality coffee to end a meal, with mind-blowing chocolate! Will definitely come back.

Fun and surprising, delicious and memorable at every step. My guest was delighted and although it’s very expensive it’s worth it. I paid myself, so I’m not just an expense account person wasting company money. This is an exceptional restaurant.

Really a lovely evening - the staff is INCREDIBLE! Thoughtful and attentive without being annoying. Perfect!
Food was 99% amazing - the cod was lackluster.
The only issue I had was that the sofas were not that comfortable to sit in.

Our expectations were high given the reputation of this chef and restaurant.
The entire meal was spoilt by a totally unacceptable wait for our main course well in excess of 50 mins after the starters were finished. It is difficult to understand what happened given that we had ordered from the set lunch menu and the restaurant was not particularly busy.Frankly it is hard to concentrate on the quality of the food when you are continually asking when the food is coming.
Clearly they recognised the problem and brought an extra cheese course(at the same time as the desserts but by this stage I was running late for a conference call and had to leave my wife to pay the bill in the company of our guest. They did not charge us for two of the main courses(a pidgeon en croute for two which seemed to cause the problem)but a reduction in price does not make up for a the stress and agitation associated with this totally spoilt lunch occasion.
We tried to review the food objectively after this disaster but didn’t feel it met the interest or creativity of some of it’s main competitors.

We were there for our 6th yrs anniversary.
Upon arrival, we were taken to our table.

Ambience: very busy. Due to their location of furnitures (cabinets for utensils and other stuff) and small space, their staffs were walking everywhere. Some to put utensils back where they belong right in the middle of the restaurant, some were getting orders and so on. Making the ambience so busy with them walking around.

Service: Normally they should ask if we’ve ever been there before and also if we have any questions about the menu. We obviously were so excited to be there we didnt read menu correctly and ordered all the dishes that they have extra charges...(which i would say i can have similar dish with same ingredients with much less price). Also, i have to ask them to scrape off bread crumbs. I understand most places would scrape off after you finish your main course and go onto dessert. But table with many bread crumbs on in any time period of your experience there...are not pleased to the eye and to eat especially if you r paying 12.5% for service charge on top of your bills and with this high end places. I also ordered my second drink that never came.

Food: food were good. I prefer their main dishes to the appetizer which normally doesnt happen so often (i normally prefer appetizers from these high end restaurants than the main course). Very french style in taste. My favorite plates are pink garlic and lobster.

A little disappointed at the end when they brought out the little cake and have this chocolate piece written Happy Anniversary... no years included tho. I love the cake just that when you are out celebrating something you want to remember it by photographs. And to take photos of the 2 little cakes with no 6th yrs anni on it... i wont remember for what anni i went to this restaurant for. Just a little tip to the restaurant.

Not as good as in the past. My First glass of wine was in fact cider. The cod main course was overpowered by a rich pork jus and by other garnish.

Having visited this restaurant in the past (our place to go to for a special occasion) our expectations were very high indeed. Yet again we found the standard of cooking, presentation, wine choice and service were all impeccable. The set lunch menu comprised my favourite dishes and I did not mind paying a supplement for the pigeon since one does not come across it too often - especially done so superbly as "pigeon wellington". Our next special occasion is in June and, yet again, we will be back to celebrate it at the Helene Darroze at the Connaught. Thank you all for looking after us.

We have been going to Helen Darroze for the Weekday set £55 lunch for years. This year we went during December and we were very disappointed to learn that the December set lunch menu does not include wine, water or coffee. So we will never go again during December. The waiter did inform us that it was clearly defined on the website. Clearly, I did not see it. On top of this the food and the service was not as good as prior years.

The restaurant has elegant and quiet environment, which I really like. unfortunately, the taste of the food is not as impressive as its presentation. Also, the price printed in the menu are excluded from tax, which is, as far as I know, uncommon in the UK and could cause underestimated expectation of expense.

Altogether very poor and we would not return. Having eaten at the Connaught several times, I took a friend for lunch. It just didn't work and by the end we were standing up trying to go and the service remained well below acceptable. On arrival we were asked about food allergies etc . I asked for no added fats. We then had to repeat this separately to 6 more staff. There is no communication between them. I was then charged not to have the olive oil on a palate cleanser! Wine service was slow. Starters and mains arrived at an acceptable time but the desert took nearly an hour and we had to ask 3 times. Each main course had meat added. We had to plead for a vegetarian menu. The Maitre d' was not interested in feedback. We asked for the bill 3 times and then had to stand up to get any attention. A ruined experience at significantly over 100 pounds a head.

Was a bit disappointed as you can see by the rating I gave. The restaurant was very busy and noisy. Tables were positioned in a strange way and our table was on crossroads of every waiter - which was really unpleasant. The tables are cramped to each other so closely that another guest had his jacket stacked in oil on our table when he was trying to get to his seat.
The waiters initially brought still instead of sparkling water, mixed up our first dishes and the service overall left somewhat unpleasant feeling.
Food was OK, but overall not something one would expect to see from a 2 Michelin star chef and who is supposedly a celebrity chef in London...

The food here was excellent - well worth it's 2 michelin stars - but the cost is astronomical! We paid £819 for 2 people. We were given a glass of champagne as we sat down (it was excellent, Grand Siecle but turns out this was £30 each). And we went for 5 courses at £105 each which is OK. However many of the courses carry supplements from £40-£125 (I counted 6 of the 15 choices) and 6 of the 10 we chose were thus adding another £381 to the cost. Compare to RGR for instance where you can get an equally good, 3 michelin star 7-course tasting menu with no supplements (unless you want an extra cheese course at £15) for £155 per head. So the food came to £651 for 2 people. Obviously we could have avoided the supplemented dishes but that would have restricted our choice to 60% of the menu which is a bit of a shame. Service was brilliant and food was excellent although the takeaway gift at the end was a madeleine type sponge which was considerably burnt when we took it out of the box - so we didn't eat.

Fantastic experience, we were on 55 pound offer which is best value ever as not only does it include exquisite food but also water, wine and coffee with petit fours (not forgetting substantial bread and butter) The petit four we had to get boxed to take way as we also got a bonus anniversary dessert (and a pre-dessert) so there was a slight danger of sugar overload towards end. Foie Gras comes in a little pastry and was a good combo of textures and flavours, beef check was rich in flavour. My wife had lobster and cod to follow and although I can't recall all the little dressings and sauces it was all simply superb. Staff very welcoming and friendly, so , overall, can't find a fault, and nearly forgot gift at end which are lovely quenelles which we are still working our way through a little bit at a time.

Certainly feels like a Michelin restaurant but for the actual experience. Enjoyed the gimmicky method of ordering. A nice extra. White truffle worth the supplement and temperature on the lobster is excellent. Bread is very good. Aside from that, several dishes leave one disappointed. Aforementioned truffle worth it but gnocchi is too mushy for my taste. Lobster again very well cooked but overwhelmed by questionable curry sauce. Grouse Wellington is awkward to say the least and quite gamey. Puff pastry limp as well.
That aside, weakest area by far is service. While attentive, far far too slow and not up to the level of care expected, including infrequent sweeping of table cloth, attention to water and such, and, did I mention super slow. Twenty minutes expired between courses routinely, almost certainly as they sought to cook certain dishes together w other tables. Clocked almost three hrs for a five course meal. I asked the people sitting next to us. They started dessert same time as us but had a reservation an hour after ours. A fine evening, but given expectations for this kind of place w this kind of price, not up to snuff.

Fun and interesting menu with attentive service! Tables are very close together, it is difficult not to talk to the guest next to you! The food was very tasty and a good selection. Value for money is less good than other places, especially as many of the dishes that you want carry a hefty surcharge (roughly 1/3 of the menu has a surcharge), we swapped pudding for an extra starter and that also had a surcharge

It was my 5th time at Hélène Darroze, a lovely quintessential Mayfair restaurant near the beautiful Mount street garden. Exceptional service from the international team, attentive yet not robotic. We had the set lunch menu which included a superb beef cheeks main course. The home baked bread is excellent. We will definitely visit it again.

Food was in line with what is expected from a 2 Michelin stars restaurant.
The most expensive wine pairing we took was a big disappointment. Even during a wine tasting, would you enjoy larger quantities. None of the wine was particularly outstanding, although it was difficult to judge given the few centilitres of each of the five glasses.
Very pricey for the experience.

I suppose we got off on the wrong foot from the moment we walked in as we were just plopped on the first table as soon as you walk in. That too even though the restaurant was half to a third empty throughout the evening. So never got a feel of the restaurant except the bit of the wall I was staring at. While all the entrees were good, none felt outstanding and having had 4, I expected at least 1 to fit that bill. Desserts were much more redeeming and the take away gift cake and complementary treats delightful. Made the meal feel like a lasting experience, at least till the morning after. Worth noting that a good chunk of the items on the menu do include a significant supplement to the price. Overall we unfortunately left feeling a bit disappointed on the overall experience and food relative to the expectations we came with. A drink at the Connaught bar after however did help uplift the night somewhat.
