Cafe Rabelais is aHouston gem. The ambiance is unique for Houston. It is small and quiet and perfect for conversation. The service is skilled and professional. Wine offerings are plentiful and the staff is knowledgeable. The food, of course is always delicious. A recent menu change has invited more interesting options. The pate’ is back, and served with garnishes and their wonderful French bread. I had a ribeye last night, perfectly prepared. It was huge. I brought half of it home. My husband ordered the scallops special. It was good, but he would have like more scallops. There weren’t many! The coffee and desserts are good. I was excited to see they now have the ice cream and espresso dessert, but we didn’t get it last night. We will, soon. Maybe at lunch time. Espresso at night for me does not work! Reservations are highly recommended.
