My husband and I frequent Roka Houston( it’s our number 1 date night spot). We went on New Year day (1/1/23). We got the chef experience which consisted of a 6 course meal. The food was excellent as always. My only issue is it’s the same chef experience as before. A little disappointed about that. However, we will be back, as always because the food is always top notch.

Just felt like trying a new sushi spot and this place was beyond amazing. The customer service is by far one of the best. They make sure you’re taken care of every second and make amazing recommendations. The lady at the front was very respectful and conversational. I believe her name was Annie. You can tell she has good spirits and was very happy to take care of me. This place is clean and very neat. The lighting inside is how I like it and I like the music that they play. I sat at the sushi bar and got the opportunity to watch the chefs prepare the nigiri, sashimi and other foods. They were all very polite and explained everything on the plate. It was pretty cool to see and hear. But the food and the quality?! Wow. I couldn’t stop ordering food. None of the orders were fishy and the food went by very smoothly. John was who took care of me and made sure I was taken care of all night. Recommendations were on point. He also made sure I always had a full cup. Ivan was also a sweetheart. Very polite, mannered, and knowledgeable. He made the experience even better. Andy is the owner and also the exclusive chef. Wow, nothing but positive energy. You can definitely tell he enjoys his career/job and loves the people who support him. Very nice guy and always smiling. This place was amazing. I would definitely come back here and it was definitely worth all the money spent. Thanks Soto and everyone who works there. I can’t wait to come back and order some more.

This is a fun sushi restaurant in Highland Village. If you are with people who do not appreciate sushi, they have cooked rolls and other types of food. The bar has a wonderful list of cocktails to choose from. It is located upstairs, so if you sit by a window, you have a good view of the area.

Sushi By The Heights was a good experience. The food quality and presentation sets itself apart from other sushi restaurants in the area. I would definitely like to go back and try it again when it isn't a 'holiday.' I went on Valentines Day and the place was packed. We had a reservation and were able to be seated right away. However most patrons who arrived after us and had a reservation had to wait to be seated for 20-30 minutes. I believe this issue stemmed from lack of help in the kitchen, it took about 40 minutes to receive our food and about 15 minutes to receive our drinks from the bar. Staffing at the restaurant might be slim and they may want to invest in more staff if possible. One bartender on Valentines Day seemed like an obvious miscalculation. We ordered a few beers and still had a wait of 15ish minutes. One note about the ambiance and seating, tables were a bit too close together, my partner suffers from mysophonia and hearing other patrons loudly smack their lips while eating was very distracting and stress inducing. Either space tables a few more feet apart or turn up the music, both of which would have benefitted all patrons. Overall food quality was great but service left some to be desired.
