What Insiders Are Saying
Have your next group dinner at Joule, the Korean steakhouse in Wallingford. The huge menu has enough options to keep everyone happy.
Very tasty, especially the black sesame noodles. The wine pairing suggested by the waitress was quite bad but apart from that we had a great experience. The steaks were cooked to perfection!
The food is above average. My wife really like their seared duck breast, and I Ike the octopus better.
Too good. Best restaurant in Seattle.
Each dish was a delight. Our server was spot on with recommendations. A great experience.
Typically, for a Sunday brunch, you would expect the availability of food to be steady for a brunch as opposed to ordering from a menu. No less than on a Sunday especially when brunch is offered. Along with many of the other patrons, there was a period of time where the brunch/buffet table was empty, and it took awhile to have the new dishes brought out. I know other patrons to the right and left of our table were also wondering when new dishes would be brought out. At least on two to three occasions, the waiter was asked when there would be more dishes. I was disappointed because this was our first time coming here, and we came because it was supposed to have good reviews. But seriously, you cannot run out of food on a Sunday if you are offering Sunday brunch as your main option.
Perfection. Made my birthday!
My favorite Seattle restaurant. Every dish is absolutely fantastic!
There was not a single drink, dish or comment/recommendation from our server that wasn't spot on. True, for our second round of beer a different local hefe came out, but it was just as good as the lager we had for the first round. We all left a little embarrassed that we hadn't been to Joule before now!
Always love Joule!
Amazing food! It was a defiantly a little loud and hard to hear because we were in a large group. Our server was not great though. Instead of suggesting doing family style she insisted on it in a pretty aggressive way. When we decided not to do family and do individual plates she rolled her eyes and insisted we all get starts to share because no way are mains would all come out at the same time but the food was pretty quick and did come out at the same time for being a busy Saturday night. It was just sorta odd. But it was amazing food and defiantly worth going back.
Second time coming here and every dish was better than the one before. Outstanding creativity and flavors. One of the best meals we have had in ages and we eat out a lot!
Food is always amazing and service was attentive but not obtrusive. They were great about being kind to my 2 boys, even though it was a typical date night.
The food was fantastic. The experience did not match the price of the meal. The wine was not good at all, the waitstaff had a very uncohesive, scattered appearance that really made you regret the amount of money you were about to spend. All of it made the taste and quality of the food seem likely to disappoint, especially when one considers that the neighboring restaurant offered a much more serene and tailored and relaxing experience. If it were me, I'd put my staff in uniforms and crack down on the multicolored hair. Then I'd dim the lights. And get a wine list that's more curated and about 1/4 the amount of options. And I'd throw out the rotting flowers at the hostess stand. The food was delicious but I'd never eat there again because I don't want to experience that much noise / annoying personalities at that price again.
Family style sharing is an awsome way to have a memorisable date! Highly recommended
Nice atmosphere and interesting fusion of flavors, but prices are a bit high for the portions.
Had a delightful dinner. Food was great and service was warm and welcoming.
Our favorite was the rice cake - good, strong flavor, as well as the kalbi steak. The mackerel was disappointing - can't taste the green curry. Kaya butter could have been more intense - I am from Singapore where kaya toast is a national dish. The black sesame was a nice mix
Great service, and great brunch. Love the different monthly themes for the buffet. Highly recommend.
We were 15 minutes late and I called to give them a heads up which the person appreciated! The waitress gave a great recommendation for drinks which I took and also took her advice on the “stew”. My friends also really liked the service and the food! If there was one thing we didn’t go back for seconds on was the scones. The waitress explained that they change the buffet options every months and the menu options every season, can’t wait to come back and see what great options you have!
Party of 3, Saturday night. Arrived early for our reservation and waited just briefly (we were a solid 15 min early, so this was totally acceptable for us). The host was extremely gracious when he had to inform us that our table’s current occupants were lingering, and we could either wait a little longer for a table or we could immediately sit at the chef’s table he had also saved for us just in case. We opted for the chef’s table, and we could not have made a better decision. Watching the employees work was like watching a ballet. The food was outstanding (the black sesame noodles, rice cakes, and broccoli in particular). The servers were all extremely intuitive, and they brought us a different menu when we mentioned having a vegetarian in our midst, which documented more clearly which dishes were vegetarian, GF, etc. Definitely will return.
The curried pickled beets were over pickled. We couldn't taste the beet through the vinegar & curry flavors. The beef dish would have been good if they hadn't added the Chinese 5 spice that was not listed in the ingredients. It over powered the other flavors. All dishes were extremely small and the flavors were not good.
Wonderful! Food was delicious and surprising. unique.
The breakfast buffet was a strange Korean-Irish combo which was not very good and pretty cold/soggy. Nothing exciting and purely just something to tide you over until your real food came. I had the waffles + chicken fried steak which was good but not the most exciting thing ever. My partner had the bao which was very different then any other bao I’ve had and was very bready. The proportions were off. Overall, it’s a cool atmosphere but food and service was very meh
Once again, Joule fails to disappoint. Excellent food and service. Definitely some of the best flavors, and perfectly executed dishes in the city. With decent portions and prices. Will return again very soon
Very yummy food, surprisingly fast service, a great choice.
Food was awesome. The rib eye steak was some of the best Rib Eye I’ve had just short of José Andres Bazaar Meat in Vegas! Wonderful food. Will return again soon!
I had a really pleasant brunch experience at Joule! With the buffet, I was able to try a lot of different flavors without getting too full and left feeling satisfied. I enjoyed that it wasn't typical brunch food and that I was able to try something more unique. Being part Korean, the food also made me very reminiscent on the flavors of my childhood. Lastly, service was very attentive and super friendly! Thank you for a great experience!
Our first visit. Many unfamiliar dishes on the menu, but everything we tried tasted great. Steak was particularly good, as you might expect. And the bill was not outrageous. Highly recommended!
Seating wasn’t until 9:45. The restaurant felt like it was mid shut down so not sure why they take reservations this late. Food also came out one at a time so you couldn’t enjoy any of the dishes together. Given how late it was and we were only people still eating, that didn’t feel right. Rib eye was TOUGH AND CHEWY. Fatty which is normal for rib eye but not even chewable. Waiter was weird/odd guy as well. I’ve dined here about four times before and this visit was beyond sub par. Didn’t feel James Beard nominee worthy.
Food was spectacular with lots of fun flavors and combinations. Service was extremely sub par, especially for a restaurant with this kind of food and pricing. We were not paid much attention to, from needing more water and having to order more food/drinks. I would want to go back for the food, but I am hesitant due to the poor service.
The food and service were wonderful. The food is so creative and interesting. Our servers were pleasant and helpful and attentive.
We have had the weekend buffet twice, and it is a nice assortment that changes monthly based on a new concept (e.g., 2019 March was "Ireland"). With the buffet, I've had the chicken-fried steak and waffles both times, which has been a bit underwhelming. We also have been a bit underwhelmed by our cocktails. We will return because we enjoy the rotating buffet selections, but I'll try a different entree and we'll probably skip the cocktails.
Joule was extremely loud and our server was rude and unattentive. Food was very overpriced for plate size
Always wanted to eat here and was not disappointed. Food and service spot on!
We love your restaurant especially your menu planning and your superb food preparation. We came for your new brunch this past Sunday. The entrees were fantastic. One critique for the self serve brunch table is that it was a bit carbo forward and not enough protein. None the less delicious! And your bartender continues to impress. Thank you or a wonderful brunch.
The brunch is an amazing deal! We went as a group of four, made a reservation, had no wait. We all enjoyed our main course (chorizo bao, french toast with (I think) garam masala cherries, something with a quarter pound of bacon, and salad with trout. Personally, the range of buffet items were just as tasty as my french toast: delightful bites with lots of different flavors. At a cost of $20 for a main course and buffet--this is a much better value than other high end brunches I have had in Fremont and on Capitol Hill. Hundred percent, will go again for brunch!
For all the hype and press Joule has received they failed in our perspective last Thursday night.
* Food was good, but not great... potions were smallish and tastes were not note-worthy
* Service was poor...
- Ordered all items at same time and last one took 15-20 minutes (table next to us arrived after and got food before we did)
- Server did not check on us or provide status on delay
* Received bill and mandated 20% surcharge made entire experience BAD... no way to even provide feedback as team was uninterested in us as we left
* Atmosphere was super noisy...had to almost yell as we could barely hear each other talk... way too loud
We will not be going back and do not recommend Joule.
After eating there for many years and finding the food to be excellent it was really off that night!
The octopus was burst and inedible, the rice cakes were tough and lacking the greens in them, the beet appetizer was undercooked and they were so chatty that we were having to wait for attention. So disappointing as we brought a friend for his first time. Must have been the “B” team working that night. We won’t be back
Food was absolutely stunning. Staff was enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
