Small intimate restaurant with no children allowed, which was perfect for us. The food was exquisite, beautifully and leisurely presented. The best restaurant we have encountered in Gig Harbor! We will be back.
Food was very good but bought the wine list and the menu limited. A bit pricey
Fantastic food, service, and ambiance. Some of the best food and wine.
JW's is a reliable standard for interesting, tasty food, a fine wine list and good service . The restaurant is cozy and comfortable and we appreciate having them in the community
It was pleasant and welcoming with a complimentary pour of wine!
Temperature was a bit too warm.
Excellent ahi first course and scallop third course!
Will come back!
Good food , alttle pricy for what you get but I would recommend it to others
We celebrated our 17th Wedding Anniversary and it was the perfect setting. Very romantic and a great way to escape for a couple hours.
Cheers for JW! The food and the service were excellent, entirely up to the reports we had heard from discerning friends. We also appreciated the acoustics. Although instrumental music or quiet might have been preferable, conversation was still possible at the competing volume. Mirrors compensate for the absence of windows and expand the limited space. On a rainy weekday night, we felt especially welcomed, warmed, and expertly fed.

Great overall cozy and unique place! Highly recommend it!
We had a fantastic meal! All four of us ordered something different and everyone loved every bite! We were in Gig Harbor to see a movie and were looking for comfortable causal dining. We thought is was pretty pricey--we shared an affordable bottle of wine $36, one appetizer, 4 salads, 4 entrees, with tip it was $260. I would go again for a special occasion.
Wonderful as always! We are so fortunate to have such a special place nearby...
Always great service and terrific food. Never disappoints.
Restaurant and setting was fantastic. This was early dinner before concert and couldn't have been better. Everyone enjoyed the food.
I had porkchop which was just a bit overlooked. That's why 4!insteadbof 5 stars.
Definitely recommend for special dinner.
The food was very good although the service and amount of time it took to be served was a bit ridiculous. We arrived at 6:30 for our dinner reservation. We were seated promptly, and the waiter came to get our drink order. It took about 20 mins. to get two glasses of wine. The waiter took our order, we got our appetizer within about 10 minutes, but salads took approx. 30 mins. Waiter asked if we wanted fresh pepper. We said 'Yes', but he never returned until he came to collect the plates and ask how the salads were. We said they were great but it would have been nice to have had some pepper. He apologized saying that there is only one peppermill in the restaurant, and he could not get his hands on it. Seriously?! Maybe they need a donation!!
The main courses took about 20 mins. more. The food was delicious but keep in mind this is a 'leisurely dining experience.' I wouldn't go if you were in a rush to be somewhere else afterwards.
We witnessed while we were there a party of 5 come in for a special occasion. They had a 7:30PM reservation and were seated at 8:10PM! One of the party was extremely upset and had it out with the hostess.
At a different table the husband, celebrating his birthday, was served the wrong steak. Waitperson kindly took it back to bring him what he ordered. The wife ate her whole dinner, and they continued waiting. A good 30 mins. later he canceled the order since he was still waiting, but the couple were ready to leave. The waitperson said they would box it up for him since it was 'now ready and being plated!'
All in all, the food was great, but they need to work on both their scheduling and the kitchen putting out food in a timely manner. Something is amuck.
The food was amazing! I fell in love with the mushroom soup. Our waitress Jill was wonderfully attentive and fun. However, the birthday cards signed by the staff for my friends was a hit; as was the complementary dessert. We will try them again.
We have lived in Gig Harbor for only 3 years and read about JW's on line. To be honest we have been underwhelmed by food quality in the area but had an outstanding experience here. We had been traveling to Bainbridge when I wanted a better meal but now feel I don't have to. Thanks JW.
This is our local go-to for special occasions. We love the ambiance and the wine. We are vegetarian and the chef is always willing to put something special together for us if we don't want something from the menu. The wait staff is always very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!!
My favorite restaurant in Gig Harbor. The food is fabulous and creative, the service is friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is intimate. Don't be turned away by the small building, it is bigger than it appears. Reservations are strongly recommended.
We came for a Valentines celebration a couple days early. The staff was attentive, the food amazing and the ambiance was just right. And try the filet mignon bites appetizer. We could have just ate 4-5 plates of that and been happy. Excellent restaurant, especially for a special occasion!
Very pleasant atmosphere. Low noise. Not enough vegetarian options or fish options for non meat eaters. Restaurant "ran out" of one of the two fish appetizers (shrimp) and ran out of bread early in the meal. Very nice waiter. Only one fish entree.
This was our second time visiting this restaurant. It was great the first time and even better the second time. The Braised Pork Belly was to die for. The Filet Mignon was perfect and the Butternut Squash Risotto was the best I've ever had. Can't wait to go back!
Great night @ JW. I put in OpenTable reservation notes that we were celebrating a birthday. The host greeted us and said Happy Birthday, as did wait staff throughout the meal. They also left a birthday card on the table signed by everyone working there. Wonderful little touches that go above and beyond the great food.
A great treasure to find a hole in the wall with such great food and wine!
Wonderful experience from start to finish. Our second time for dinner and didn't disappoint. Highly recommend.
Our wine, appetizers and meals were 5 🌟. We will definitely be back. The rack of lamb was perfect.
Fabulous place - don't know why we don't eat here more often. Stop in while they are offering their 3 course / $30 deal - can't be beat.
I made this reservation for my parents, as a thank you to them. They reported "being treated like VIPs" by the excellent staff. They loved the intimate decor, and the locally sourced food was "incredible." I'm looking forward to trying it myself.
We went for a birthday dinner and had the three for $30 special. Great food, great service, great deal. It is one of our favorites in Gig Harbor.
For sure our favorite place in Gig Harbor. Always something wonderful on the menu.
This place is a great value. The food was wonderful and the ambience was amazing.
The only issue, a fairly substantial one, is that the food was cold when it was served. Despite being cold, the food had amazing flavor. Can only imagine how much better it would have been if it were served on time.
We will definitely come back but I would have rated this place up there with the likes of "Art of the Table" in Fremont if the service was better. Pity to the Chefs, they work hard on the food and food temperature might have been outside of their control if the food was sitting and waiting to be delivered. Very good flavors would have been great if they were served hot.
Great little restaurant with an amazing wine list and food. Bread pudding was to die for
Our previous visit to the restaurant was a little disappointing but we decided to give it another chance as the restaurant has a new chef. Our optimism was well met as the experience was dramatically better. JW is now without doubt our new favorite in Gig Harbor. A great restaurant must has to hit all the major points, ranging from ambience, service and of course the food. JW scores high on them all.
We started with the Shrimp Serrano appetizer. Like the rest of the meal this was a really well balanced and tasty dish. Not as overpowering as the name might imply. Simply delicious.
The salad was likewise thoroughly enjoyable. For entrée we had the French Pork Chop and the special King salmon both of which were perfectly cooked. It is so easy to overcook the salmon but it was absolutely on the money. Service was very attentive and efficient. The food flowed from the kitchen at just the right pace.
Overall we were delighted to (at last) find a restaurant in Gig Harbor that we can unreservedly recommend. Others have high spots, regrettably offset by poor value, bad service, or mediocre quality. The only negative was in the choice of music which didn't quite match up to the rest of the experience. Thankfully it was not too loud, and not really bad, but the one (small) negative out of all the categories that make a great restaurant the very best.
We eat here six times a year or so and have never had a bad, or even mediocre, experience. While the menu is small it changes regularly, and there are enough options anyone can find something to their taste. The food has invariably been terrific, and the service has always been great. It's our go-to place for special occasions (New Year's Eve, anniversary), as well as any time we are in the mood for a particularly fine evening out.
Lovely, small restaurant with very good food and service. Good wine menu, limited menu but able to cater to some dietary needs. I would return!
Another wonderful experience at JW. We celebrated our 49th Anniversary and I am sure we'll return for our 50th. Good food and wonderful atmosphere.
We have eaten at the JW many times. Never disappointed…food is fabulous. We highly recommend.
Happy New Year
I love this place. It is tiny but cozy and warm. The food is wonderful and varied. The service is warm, responsive and timely. I like the wine list - it offers affordable options as well as fine wines. I will return.
Great service and delicious food. the price is okay for a Holiday dinner
JW is one of our favorites in Gig Harbor. We enjoyed a quiet and delicious dinner, although the serving staff seemed slightly overwhelmed by a large party in the back. All in all, a lovely evening!
Two of our diners are vegan. They did a great job of creating delicious vegan options for them and all parties were happy with their meals.
