My wife, Waleska, and I recently made the trip from San Antonio to Austin to dine at Comedor, and the experience fully lived up to its reputation as one of Austin’s premier restaurants. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Comedor takes tremendous pride in both its cuisine and ingredients. Every dish showcased exceptional freshness, thoughtful preparation, and bold yet balanced flavors. We started with the Spicy Tuna Crudo, which was impeccably fresh and beautifully composed. The Bone Marrow Tacos were rich, decadent, and absolutely unforgettable, a perfect combination of texture and flavor. The Empanada de Borrego delivered a wonderful depth of flavor, highlighting the kitchen’s ability to elevate traditional ingredients into something truly special. For our entrées, we shared the Pork Chop Milanesa and a side of Okra. The pork chop was expertly prepared: tender, flavorful, and perfectly executed. The okra was a standout accompaniment and demonstrated the kitchen’s attention to even the smallest details on the plate. To complement the meal, we enjoyed a bottle of Albet Noya, which paired beautifully with the progression of dishes. Service was attentive, professional, and knowledgeable throughout the evening. While our server occasionally seemed occupied with a particularly engaged table in his section, the overall level of hospitality remained warm and accommodating, and we never felt neglected. What impressed us most was the quality and freshness of the ingredients. Every plate reflected careful sourcing and culinary craftsmanship. Comedor manages to be sophisticated without being pretentious, delivering a dining experience that feels both refined and welcoming. Austin is fortunate to have restaurants of this caliber. Comedor delivered a memorable evening of outstanding food, excellent hospitality, and a dining experience worthy of its accolades. We look forward to returning and exploring more of the menu on our next visit.
