Located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, TAKOI is known for modern Thai cooking accented with Michigan seasonality, a DIY mentality, and a penchant for local food production. As a core pillar of our mission, TAKOI operates HiO Farm which is located just a mile north of the restaurant. During the height of farm season, the restaurant highlights dishes prepared with HiO produce utilizing the techniques and flavors inspired by Thailand and beyond. TAKOI, originally KATOI, began as a food truck in 2014, evolved into an Ann Arbor pop-up, and landed as a proper restaurant at 2520 Michigan Avenue in March of 2016. After being open for 11 months, having a slew of fun, and garnering a handful of awards — including a James Beard 'Best New Restaurant' nomination— KATOI was brought back down to earth when it was subjected to arson in February 2017. The day after the fire, the rebuild began, and we opened as TAKOI exactly six months later in August 2017.

    The food was beyond phenomenal. We walked in was greeted by the hostess and seated for our reservation. We had the tuna tartare, waygu pastrami, and rustic salad. Very flavorful dishes, the salad super crunchy and fresh. For dinner we had the ribeye and carbone pasta with a side of corn & mashed potatoes. The steak was prepared to a perfect temperature and had so much flavor, paired great with their zip sauce. Carbone pasta was a palomino sauce also zinging with flavor. The corn was something so unique and super delicious with a nice kick to it. Mashed is mashed can’t go wrong with it. For dessert we had the chocolate temptation and it was super moist and soft. A buttery cake/mouse. Highly recommend this place not only was it beautiful the food is what keeps people coming back. Wonderful job

    The ambiance of Kingsville‘s historic railway station is charming and delightful to experience. Staff were friendly, helpful and very attentive. The menu has a varied selection of lovely items. My partner had a delicious pizza and I enjoyed the veal Marsala. We shared a fantastic fluffy lemoncello cheesecake with pistachios, made in house - best ever! The dishes being enjoyed at nearby tables also looked fabulous. We’re looking forward to another romantic evening at the Mettawas Station.

    The food and service were excellent. We went at 6:15 on Saturday and it wasn't busy. I ordered the haddock and my husband ordered the filet. They were not big portions, but were filling.
