We sat at the bar - our server was wonderful. She was personable and knowledgeable. I arrived early for my reservation and she took care of me and my guest once they arrived. She was accurate the scallops were just okay - small in size and average presentation. She was also correct about the appetizers- they were great. She made the experience. Thank you.

From the ambiance to the food n drinks everything was beautiful. My guest and I had a great time, music was a whole vibe everyone was friendly. Our food and drinks were bomb! The building was beautiful no matter what room you were seated in. Overall we ordered surf n turf, seafood pasta, catfish n grits, short ribs, fried chicken n collards. When I say no one was disappointed. The drinks were prepared very well I had a lemon drop with patron (soo good) I def recommend this restaurant

Outstanding food, professional and attentive service, and historic atmosphere. Crab cakes were meaty! No filler. The Bloody Maryland was savory, spicy, yet refreshing. Steak was perfectly cooked and the sauce was divine! Kids mac and cheese was impressive too ... fresh, not box recipe. Our server Jenny was very kind and knowledgeable about everything! Do be prepared for the bustling atmosphere which made conversation a tad strained and navigating to the restroom a test of agility, but also made it a fun experience. Would highly recommend Old Ebbit Grill for their food, service, and historic ambience.

We were invited back after the first unpleasant experience two months ago. Needless to say that they have ironed out the growing pains we experienced the first time around. Chateaubriand was a spot-on medium rare and seasoned perfectly. Accompanying vegetables and mashed potatoes (which I don't remember seeing the first time) were plentiful and delicious. Service was impeccable and detail-oriented (and perhaps over-the-top). We were treated like VIPs which we appreciated. Fortunately for us, the room we were placed in was not full when we arrived--patrons at only one other table--and we were able to have a relaxed conversation. But as the evening went on and more and more tables were being filled, our conversations were harder to hear...and the table of 10 next to us was still empty. So although yesterday's experience was much better (last time the restaurant was packed and we were literally yelling at each other to have a conversation), the noise level at full capacity will continue to be an issue in my opinion. Regardless, we had a nice time and we both enjoyed the VIP experience.

We ate here twice in our brief DC visit - once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times the food was terrific. Complex compositions, tasty and well presented. I eat Caesar salads quite often and theirs was one of the best I’ve had. Both times we commented that the background music was enjoyable and not too loud for the room. Our waiter was familiar with the wine we wanted to try and it was delightful.
