Chef Frank Bonanno dug into his Sicilian heritage and east coast roots to create this authentic, rustic Italian eatery. Luca has amazing personal touches from the daily made breads and pastas to the meats and cheeses cured in house, to the charcoal drawing of Bonanno’s son (and the restaurant’s namesake) that hangs in the dining room. Luca is heartwarming and satisfying from the wood-fired pizzas to the hand-rolled pastas to the perfectly seared proteins. It’s not your ordinary pile-of-pasta-and-sauce Italian joint; it’s the real (and tasty) deal. Parking is available in the lot behind the restaurant on Grant St., before 7th Ave.

    I have been planning to go to Mizuna for months now, having seen duck on their menu, and last night I saw that they have beef tartare, too, so I made a reservation to sit at the bar. From the get-go, I was impressed, because they offered me NA sparkling to enjoy while I waited on my NA cocktail. Both were delicious. Then, a frenzy of food came. I ordered three menu items and must have had at least four additional little bites, compliments of the chef. By the end of the meal, I was so happy. And stuffed to the gills. Truly stunning Wellington and tartare. I will definitely be back for a tasting menu.

    Fabulous. The chef and restaurant deserve all the awards, recognition and hype. Incredible flavors in every dish. Service was great and a really comfortable atmosphere. Looking forward to my next visit.

    We shared four different pastas, three appetizers and the branzino. All were perfect. Wine steward very helpful as were all of the servers. First time here, and I'll return for sure!
