Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

Everything was phenomenal. We started with a cocktail, which was in a gorgeous glass. I got their signature October drink, which was a fig bourbon old fashioned-esque drink, and my partner got a gin drink that was quite tasty. We shared the focaccia and burrata before each getting a pasta as our main. The rigatoni was outstanding, as was the baked gnocchi. We finished our meal with their hazelnut tiramisu--so good. We can't wait to go back!

Came in to celebrate my husbands bday Tuesday evening. Although I had made a reservation for a table, we waited over 20 minutes because a previous party had not cleared out yet. We were given the option to continue to wait for their table to clear or sit in the outdoor patio. The host walked us by our options and we chose to sit outdoors. It was so nice and quiet outside and the weather was perfect!! I highly recommend enjoying the outdoor patio throughout the fall on those non-rainy nights. We had a delicious dinner and the best creme brûlée! I don’t know how they make the creme brûlée’s better than the last time we had it but it was the perfect way to end the night! We look forward to our next visit and definitely will not rule out the outdoor patio! Thank you for the wonderful service and experience P.s.. Huge shoutout to the front of house for finding solutions for us. You all displayed excellent communication, professionalism and team work. Thank you!!
