Elizabeth and I were very excited to open our restaurant in Downtown Stuart. After years of visiting our parents our hearts led us back here each time we considered a different location. Our son Taylor (our Executive Chef) and I, both have a culinary education and all three of us are extremely passionate about quality food,drinks and hospitality. We thoroughly enjoy taking great care of our guests. “the Gafford” is named after my grandparents who taught us how to enjoy life, have fun and laugh (especially at ourselves). My grandfather was in the Air Force and hospitality business all of his life and taught me so much about business, cooking and hospitality. I can remember when I was young visiting my grandparents on their farm. My grandfather used to teach me how to grill. My favorite dish to cook together was a giant Ribeye steak. On our menu, that is our signature item and we call it “the Gafford.” Welcome to the Gafford where casual meets upscale.

The Stuart Boathouse is a local's favorite waterfront dining location. The beautifully restored 1920's Restaurant is located directly on the river in downtown Stuart next to the band shell. Specializing in fresh caught seafood, oysters, sushi, as well as many favorites for the land lovers. Accompany dinner with a great bottle from our wine list or one of our signature cocktails. The Stuart Boathouse is great for special occasions or for just hanging out with some friends. The Stuart Boathouse is open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner.     Absolutely phenomenal experience at The Gafford in the heart of sweet downtown Stuart! From the moment we walked in, everything was perfection — the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely top tier. The cocktails were beautifully crafted and paired perfectly with an unforgettable meal. The duck wings were beyond incredible, packed with flavor and cooked to perfection, and the pork chop was hands down one of the best we’ve ever had. The special lobster & peach soup was such a unique surprise — rich, velvety, and perfectly balanced with sweet summer flavor. Every bite felt thoughtful and elevated. Between the amazing food, fantastic drinks, welcoming atmosphere, and impeccable service, this was truly a five-star dining experience from start to finish. Cannot wait to come back!

    What an amazing restaurant! I’m so glad we stumbled upon it when researching places to eat in the area. We were a half hour early for our reservation yet they sat us immediately honoring the reservation request to sit at the windows. Although we aren’t picky eaters we did request some changes on the menu…. The cranberry and walnut salad we switched goat cheese for the blue cheese, the coconut crusted mahi we asked for the fish to be black grouper and the stuffed shrimp we swapped the tropical rice for the mashed potatoes. All requests were made and the only price adjustment was for the black grouper which we expected. The food was amazing and came out at a great pace. We also had some oysters on the half shell that were so fresh and delicious. We can’t recommend this restaurant enough. The staff especially our waitress Emily were so kind and friendly. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
