    My wife loves French Onion Soup, so she was happy to learn that Stella's Southern Brasserie had it on their Dinner menu. That's what brought us to this handsome bistro on Rocky Slope in Verdae on a recent Friday evening. The French Onion Soup was worth the visit, and I expect we'll be back for it again. We also tried the Roasted Spring Beets appetizer, another winner., with wonderful accents of rasperries. Even though it wasn't listed on the Dinner menu, I asked if I could try the house burger with fries. The burger was perfectly prepared, juicy and unctuously rich with the house burger sauce and thick strips of bacon. It would've been wonderful with one of the French reds on offer by the glass, but as I was driving I settled for a Jarritos soda, which I was happy to learn they had. Service was attentive and cordial, and the warm late spring evening brought out a mixed crowd of couples, friend groups, and families with young children, seated both indoors and out on their patio. All in all, a really pleasant place to enjoy a very nice meal.
