The Winery Restaurant has been an icon among western Colorado restaurants for over 35 years. The restaurant makes its home in a 95 year old building that used to house a horse drawn fire station. A gas lamp lit, grapevine canopied alley frames this romantic location perfectly. The beautifully remodeled building contains flowered stain glass windows, barn wood and bricks.Steve Thoms acquired the restaurant in late June of 2004 after taking a couple of years off from his previous restaurant. His mission at he Winery is simple: Show the restaurant and its patrons the attention that they deserve. Use only top quality ingredients, and establish The Winery as the premiere restaurant in the Grand Junction area. The Winery provides a variety of steaks, chicken, pork and fresh seafood specials nightly in an atmosphere that can not be rivaled anywhere!

Ours isn’t a traditional Thai restaurant. We are not Thai. We’re not even Asian. Not even close. Hell, we’ve only visited Thailand!Don’t try to compare our green curry or phat thai with your favorite spot in Thailand. Ours is likely not equal to the one you remember, just different. Our curries aren’t striving to replicate that one you had at your favorite Thai restaurant in LA. That one’s probably better, and next time you visit, we’d like for you to bring us some take-out.Our cravings always migrate towards Asian, particularly Thai. The smell of mint, cilantro, and peanuts, the radiant warmth of Thai chili, the satisfying richness and funk of fish sauce, the acidic slap in the face of lime. It’s as heart-warming to us as our grandmother’s cooking… except, of course, she wasn’t Thai either. We simply try to serve good food and drink. This is our homage, our adoration, and our inspiration – this is our joint in SE Asia – our version anyways.

Wonderful food. 5 of us just got appetizers: the pork buns, ribs, chicken satay, chicken wrap (spicy) were great.

We enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant. Brady, our server, was knowledgeable and attentive. Outstanding service. The deviled eggs and short ribs were outstanding The double bone pork chop was a large portion and very tender. My only gripe is the noise level is somewhat high. But that's really just an American phenomenon: women trying to out laugh each other.

I was so glad that we added The Winery on our visit to the Grand Junction area. Having gone to another restaurant that we had high hopes for a couple days previously to celebrate my birthday, we decided before the start of our trip to add eating at The Winery for dinner. From beginning to end, Tyler was a superb server, who was very attentive to anything that came up, including offering two small flights of wine to taste, as my wife and I couldn't decide from the menu what we wanted for a glass of wine with our dinner. At the start of our meal, my wife had The Winery margherita and I had an absolutely delicious espresso martini, one of the best I've had in some time, which stands out, as I've enjoyed hundreds over the years (as it's my go-to starting dinner drink). For appetizers, we decided on two small dishes, mushrooms in a garlic butter sauce, which were very good. But what really stood out were a pair of scallops wrapped in bacon, brushed with an apple wood sauce. Yum. Probably the best scallops appetizer I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. For our entree, we each enjoyed a six-ounce filet mignon, with my wife taking the advice of Tyler to do the blue cheese encrusted variety. She so appreciated his suggestion. To finish our meal, for dessert, we had the "Palisade," a slice of cake that was fabulous. Lots of chocolate. Chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache, chocolate brownie, chocolate drizzle, all touched by an absolutely amazing raspberry sauce. Worked very well together. Between our drinks and each of our courses, we were very impressed with our meal. An incredibly enjoyable birthday dinner, that was guided by the fabulous service of Tyler. I so wish to have that level of service each time my wife and I plan a celebratory dinner. Thank you, The Winery. Tyler
