In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

    Food and view was fantastic. They had us seated at our reservation time. Chrissy, our server, was fantastic and took great care of us making sure our orders were correct, making sure we understood parking changes and keeping our drinks filled. We ate our fill of shrimp, fish and chips Cole slaw and don’t forget those shrimp kisses. Perfection. We eat here every time we come to Galveston and this was another home run.

    The food was exceptional from start to finish and the service was attentive and warm without ever feeling rushed. The vibe is upscale but never stuffy, which made for easy conversation and lots of laughs. If you’re looking for a restaurant that delivers on atmosphere, food, and service all at once, Vargas Cut & Catch is it. We will absolutely be back!

    When and ate for my anniversary dinner and Alexa was very attentive and nice would recommend always!!!!! One of my favorite spots to eat a nice romantic dinner!!!
