Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. For the love of her, Orion forged the island for wild game and seafood to prepare elaborate banquets in celebration of their love. An exceptionally stylish supper club, civilized speakeasy, a sophisticated saloon. Each of these "personae" is housed in a soaring two-story interior distinguished by a gently curving mahogany bar, fluted columns with ornate capitals, stunning original art, plush banquettes, cozy booths, starched linens, glittering glasses, and polished flatware. Overall, the ambiance is pure 1930's and 1940's - tasteful art moderne reminiscent of the glory days of Cunard and French Line ships. Fashionable and glamorous are the hallmarks. Trendy is simply not a part of the BIX culture. Sleek and modern with one foot firmly in the Old World is the feeling at Perbacco. The restaurant boasts a brick wall original to the historic 1913 Hind building, with other touches such as a bar top and floor tiles made from white Carrara marble. With 16 seats at the bar and 7 more intimate tables, Perbacco creates an atmosphere for a glass of wine or a light bite.     We dined here to celebrate a birthday and made a reservation in advance, mentioning the occasion. The food and service were both great, but it would have been a nice touch if the birthday had been acknowledged in some way—perhaps a small treat or even a 'Happy Birthday' when we checked in. Little gestures like that make celebrations feel extra special. Overall, it was a good experience, but that detail would have made it truly memorable

    We had a wonderful time. The food, drinks, setting and live music were all amazing. We had 1 entree (wagyu steak), 4 sides/aps and 2 cocktails and it was just under $200 before tip. Honestly not bad at all for such a well put together super club experience. Great place for a date or dinner with close friends!

    Each year, I enjoy the dining experience of the prior 11 months. KUSAKABE is a marriage of art and food. I know to remember carefully each dish since the next will be so extraordinary that if all senses are not fully engaged for each taste, it might be forgotten for the next extraordinary taste. In 2025, my objective is to dine at least three times at this rarefied gift
