Hreat atmosphere, service, and food. Three large groups of multiple tables were reserved. Placement of two of the groups made entry and movement difficult. If large groups were seated in opposite sides/corners and not close together, it would’ve been better for both staff and other patrons.

This family-owned restaurant is the best-kept secret in Alexandria. There is free garage parking after 3pm. They have live music nightly. Their staff is friendly and experienced. The food is always prepared fresh, never frozen and everything tastes wonderful. They offer outdoor patio seating.

Father’s Day brunch experience. The waiter Frank was very attentive but seemed to repeat himself multiple times unnecessarily. Place wasn’t too crowded for Father’s Day but we asked for a slight modification (just a plain crepe versus a stuffed crepe) on a meal and was told they were afraid that any modifications would cause the kitchen to get backed up. The waiter went back and said he could even ask the kitchen staff because of “some issues” back there. There seems to be some communication issues between the front and back of house staff that limited our food options. The food was very nicely presented but the steak was somewhat bland. Hollandaise sauce was very good. The pork belly was good but while I was expecting fat it was nearly inedible because of the excessive fat. The music / pianist was the highlight of the afternoon and absolutely made up for the lapses in service. The bread pudding was dried out but the other desserts (lava cake & cappuccino cheesecake) were tasty and nicely presented. The coffee at the end of dinner came out with heavy lipstick on it as though the cup had not even been properly washed. Frank replaced it after mentioning something about how hard it was to wash dishes? They are going through some renovations which hopefully will spruce up the place. The carpet feels quite dated but may be a necessity to help with the echoes from the music?

The dinner, drinks, and service were outstanding! The live jazz was superb and we are looking forward to our next evening at LaPortas. The down side was a made a reservation through Open Table and for some reason that never got to the restaurant. However, they were able to seat us at a great table close to the musicians as we wanted. Thank you!

I have always enjoyed LaPorta’s, however, as everywhere, the prices have risen dramatically. A pasta dinner for two was $123.00! Two small Caesar salads were $12.00 each. While I will still go there, it will be only on special occasions.

First time here, we ordered several small dishes to try a little bit of everything. The food is great, drinks as well and the desert was fantastic, a lava cake freshly baked. Beautiful weather on the patio, we couldn’t have asked for a better lunch experience. It really made our day.

Long-time fan and customer, surprised and disappointed on our last visit. LaPorta runs lovely Mon & Tues night $39.99 dinner & wine specials for 2. We had received an email just before heading over to dinner that offered an even better price about $10 less for dinner & wine for 2. We asked the server about it. He sought guidance about it and returned with response that we could order from the Mon special menu & get a bottle from the 2 offered for $28.99 mentioned in the email promo. And so we did. Service was uncharacteristically slow in delivering entrees. We suspect a problem in the kitchen, but waited patiently and received tasty food. When the bill was delivered, a woman we've seen there before (a manager?) strode to the table and announced in clipped, stern tone that there was a problem with the email marketing and so we would be charged $39.99 vs $28.99 (in the email). Had this information been given before we ordered, we may have changed our choices. We were struck by the poor customer service timing and choices of this interaction.

We were disappointed with the food here given how expensive it was. My wife’s salmon pasta was fishy and my hanger steak was drowned in bbq sauce. We would go back for appetizers and jazz but would not invest in another $40-50 entree. The interior looks like converted office space, because it is. Popular place, so my review is apparently not widely shared!

The food was great and the service was very good. I was disappointed that we had a reservation and were seated in the bar area which was very loud and had sports on television instead of music. When we asked to move, we were told that the other side of the restaurant is reserved for people. We had a reservation so I am not sure what that’s about. Too bad because the other side had musicians playing which would have been better ambiance. The server was gracious enough to turn TV down for us, however the staff was congregating near the bar and they were also very loud. The tables were also way too close together. Servers couldn’t even get between them. Overall, it was a decent experience with very good food and service though.

My wife and I have dined at La Porta's for many years. Yesterday's dining experience, for Mother's Day, was ok but not great. My steak was not cooked per my request. Appetizers are overpriced for the quantity you get. That said, the service is always quite good; the drinks were just right; the piano music added a nice touch (wish he had played longer); and the atmosphere good for the occasion.

The Mother’s Day brunch prefix menu was nice but would have liked to be able to order off of a regular brunch menu. Not all options were great for our party. The food was tasty though and seasoned well. Desserts were fantastic! Will probably go back for their dinner options. Music selections were nice as well.

Everything was wonderful except for a rowdy table who came in to sit next to us. The staff was kind enough to move us outside. Food terrific; service exceptional; Monday and Tuesday specials are of great value. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Worst experience ever!!! Took over 1.5 hour after being sat at our table to get our entrées!! Ordered the hangar steak which was advertised on the menu to have a bourbon sauce, WRONG!!!. The worst meal I’ve had in a long time (cold meat/steak with barbecue sauce drizzled all over it with some unappetizing mac & cheese on the side). I see plates for other patrons, who sat down way after us, come out but not ours which reassured me & my family that we’re not welcome there. NEVER AGAIN!!!

This is GREAT food. It is always consistently well prepared. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. They often have live music in the regular dining area, so check out their website for your favorite type of music or musicians.
