Le Bouchon - Chicago
Very French. Lovely, lovely service. The appetizers were to die for. But, here’s what’s up: Ice cold air conditioning blowing down made for an uncomfortable dining experience. My chicken with special French mashed potatoes was soo disappointing. Too salty to eat and I couldn’t tell the broth from the potatoes. The folks at the table next to us said their food was too salty.
The Trout en croute was really good.
Feels like you are in a cafe in Paris. The food is so good and lots of fresh options. The service is the best I’ve had in a long time. Our waitress Heather understands the menu and listened to what we were looking for. All her food and wine suggestions were perfect. Will be going back.
Everything was outstanding and the feel there is amazing
Le Bouchon is my new “go to” bistro. It is a bit further north than I would typically travel, but Le Bouchon is not typical either. It is exceptional.
Definitely has a French bistro feel to it. Prices are about as you'd expect but the food and wait staff are great. Its quant so not a ton of room for big parties but great for a couple or group of four.
Truly authentic French bistro experience. We had the Agnolotti pasta, chicken and steak. Everything was wonderful and our waitress took very good care of us.
Fantastic food, stellar service, great wine list. Neighborhood gem!
John Dory disappointing.
A taste of France! I like the vibe, waiters are very friendly
The menu selection is very classic for traditional french food (escargots, onion soup, foie gras...). Food is good, I really like the duck for 2 to share, maybe some meals are too salty sometimes
Best deal is the 1/2 price on wine on Monday night
This is a really nice Bistro ! We were here on a Monday night when wine is half price. That alone is a great deal. For appetizers we had the Escargot and the Onion tart. The snails were real buttery and the onion tart had a great crust. Our entry was the John Dory for two. Very tasty and enough fish for three or four people. While some tables are close together, we arrived early and had a nice window table.
Our server helped with any questions on the menu options and our wine selection.
We had a good time and hope to come back soon.
Le Bouchon is a Chicago gem, a classic! I recommend to anyone who enjoys French cuisine.
We were there for a birthday and it was perfect!! We are going to Paris in June and I thought it would be a great surprise dinner!!
As always, food was perfect and service professional. We recommend Le Bouchon as long as patrons OK with elbow to elbow seating and very high noise level.
LeBouchon was both terrible and wonderful. The food, atmosphere, decor, ambiance was wonderful, but our service with Liz was probably one of the worst I’ve had, ever (at a nice restaurant).
Our waitress went over the menu, AFTER 15minutes of sitting and waiting for her to come back to our table after the initial seating. She seemed annoyed we asked questions, and to be honest she sucked at explaining how the menu was set up.
My boyfriend ordered a steak, which was delivered by someone else other than our waitress. Our waitress finally checked on us after we had both finished our meals. He never received a steak knife, ate his steak with a butter knife. Had our waitress been more observant or acknowledged we were in her section and visited us more than 3 times the hour we were there, cutting the steak would have been more pleasant with the appropriate knife. When she approached our table (empty plates Bc the food was incredible) she asked how our meal was, my boyfriend pointed out he never got a steak knife. Her response was “oh I’m sorry, would you like me to get one for you now?” Seriously?! If she could come up with a good reason why he needed a steak knife, then yes, please bring one.
I would like to come back, but would request a different waitress if I was assigned to Liz; she needs to be better with her customers. We would have purchased more cocktails and food, had she actually waited on us. Instead, we were served a drink each the hour we were there...and that was provided by the bartender as we waited for our table to be set.
The food was excellent (lamb tartare and trout in particular). A bit on the expensive side, and once it fills up it is difficult to talk. But service and cuisine were fantastic.
I loved the quaint, European style of this restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing and reasonably priced for the quality of the cuisine you were getting
We were enchanted by Le Bouchon! It resembles a Café in Paris. The service was excellent. The lunch we had was presented with a variety of flavors and textures. This is a place to which we will definitely return.
Love Le Bouchon! It is my FAVORITE go-to restaurant in the neighborhood, especially when friends and out of town guests arrive at my doorstep. We simply walk The 606 Trail to dine in one of the best French restaurants in the city!
If you like a French bistro feel, this is it. Small place, tight tables, solid classic French food in every respect. I go here for my comfort food. Always great.
Food as great as ever. A little tight as far as seating. Sometimes it feels cozy. Sometimes you are physically in contact with the chairs at other tables.
Best French Foods in town
Le Bouchon never disappoints, with there Tuesday $38 it’s easily the best deal in the city. we all got different dishes ranging from frog legs to Rabbit pot pie. One of the best French restaurants in the city hands down. Our waiteress Heather was one of the nice and friendliest people we have ever encountered and helped make our evening extra special with her great suggestions.
Overall a nice restaurant for date night! Would recommend!
Had a wonderful dinner. Staff is amazing.
I booked a reservation at Le Bouchon for my fiancé’s birthday. The service was warm and friendly and the food was extraordinary. We highly recommend and look forward to going back.
Overpriced and definitely not worth it. Mediocre food way overpriced, service is also crap. The waitress was pulling my menu from me while I was trying to read it. Just completely felt ripped off, $200 for trash food and experience. I've had better food at shake shack.
Cozy restaurant with amazing food. Great for friends or dates!
Always excellent food and service. It's very tight quarters, but one could argue it contributes to the ambiance. A fairly extensive starter and main menu, perfectly executed. Definitely get the cassoulet or the bouillabaise. Both standout dishes! Will be back!
Awesome French onion soup
It was great! Service was awesome and the food was delicious! A great little French restaurant. Also they do half off bottles of wine on Mondays!
The food was very tasty and beautifully presented, but small portions...but I guess this is truly French. The service was quite poor. Our waitress was unattentive and did not wait for us to taste the wine after choosing a bottle. She just assumed it was to our liking and kept pouring, but it actually tasted terrible. We thought we would let it "air" a bit before complaining, but it never improved. Another person brought out the creme brulee to our table and we had no silverware. By the time we were able to flag someone down for spoons, the creme brulee was cold.
Le Bouchon is a long time favorite. The food and service is always outstanding.
Love this restaurant- my favorite in all of Chicago!
The food was delicious and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The restaurant is quite small so it is a little cramped but still cozy. The food was packed with flavor and was so delicious! Would recommend!
Had a lovely dinner again on pre fixe night (Tuesdays) with friends. Dining here is so comfortable. Kinda like putting on your old comfy jeans jeans and ratty old favorite sweatshirt. Familiar.
The food is classic French comfort food straight from Lyon. Never a disappointment.
Perfect for a date when you’re thinking of France, great for friends or a special occasion.
The service is friendly and down to earth.
A chicago neighborhood classic.
The best best best of chicago. ❤️ Definitely my favorite place in the city.
Wonderful example of a French Bistro. My wife and I recently returned from
Paris where we had enjoyed several wonderful establishments. This place will now be on our regular list of Bistros to enjoy a French meal.
Relaxed dining. Excellent food. No rushing.
Best French onion soup in the city! Wine is superb. Ambience makes you feel like you’re in Paris!
Time and time again-- the best Chicago has to offer. Thank you
