Looking at Orlando's sprawling theme parks, you might find it difficult to believe only 85 people lived here when it was founded. Today, tourism forms the backbone of the city, attracting millions from around the world to places like Disney World and Universal Studios. That leaves local restauranteurs in fierce competition to earn the title of the best breakfast in Orlando. Of course, only a few consistently earn that honor. So where do Orlando's savviest and smartest diners enjoy the most important meal of the day? Welcome to our Tastemaker List. We've gathered data from thousands of eateries across America -- to discover where OpenTable's most seasoned diners enjoy sitting down for a meal in the morning. Get ready for a satisfying mix of contemporary Southern cuisine, Latin American seasonings, and Gulf seafood after waking up. History buffs love The Tap Room at Dubsdread simply because it’s been around since 1924. That’s the same year good ol’ J. Edgar became FBI director! Even with it being around so long, this eatery is anything but dated. Vintage photos and newspaper articles adorn the walls, but the televisions and lighting manage to create a contemporary feel even when surrounded by pre-Depression architecture. Local favorites include the crab and lobster omelet, grilled salmon benedict, blueberry pancakes, and avocado toast. Everyone should try out the Spicy Bloody Mary too!

While the Chef’s Table at the Edgewater isn’t packed with selections one would expect with the best breakfast in Orlando, it does have several options that keep locals coming back the moment the doors open. Some of the best ways to start a day here are the Waterkist BLT Salad, mushroom and chive crepe tortes, duck breast, and Nutella bread pudding. The fireplace in their makeshift sitting room, stained glass windows, and vintage architecture all combine to make this a relaxing spot to grab a meal.

At 1921 Mount Dora, they pride themselves on their location in the center of Florida. This pride is thanks to their proximity to local farmers and both the Gulf and Atlantic. It honestly makes for some of the freshest and most delicious ingredients. When it comes to competing for the best breakfast in Orlando, their brunch menu includes shrimp & grits, ham benedict, the 1921 Burger, and even milk & cookies -- for those who let their sweet tooth run the show. The eatery may look like a regular home from the outside, but guests know they’ve arrived when they see the gated archway entrance.

Options like the blue crab & sweet potato hash, shrimp & avocado toast, crab cakes benedict, and rustic-style French toast make Reel Fish Coastal Kitchen & Bar one of the most unique places to find the best breakfast in Orlando. Add this to the fact that their Bloody Marys, mimosas, and other brunch drinks are BOGO, and there’s no way patrons leave this place unhappy with the start of their day. The impressive ceiling tiles, contemporary fixtures, and even the large fish-shaped menu all combine to make this a truly unique dining experience.

It would seem bold to call an eatery the life and soul of Ireland, but that’s exactly what Raglan Road Irish Pub does on a daily basis. To be fair, it is a real Irish pub. As in, they built it in Ireland before shipping it to America to rebuild. Guests get to experience live music and dancing from the Emerald Isle, and the experience has a very Grand Ole Opry feel to it. The Rockin' Sausage Rolls, Irish egg, Hipsters Lament, and Happy Marriage Omelet all ensure that this pub is part of any best breakfast in Orlando conversation.

As America became more focused on smaller portions, Nona Blue Modern Tavern responded appropriately. Their Shareable menu encourages items that are easily passed around the table for everyone, but each is also large enough for a single person to enjoy in this sports-bar-like atmosphere. Their brunch menu is just as impressive as what they serve throughout the day, and the Tavern Quiche, lemon ricotta pancakes, eggs benedict with lobster, and the steak & egg sandwich are each worth the trip. Very few guests leave here without knowing they’ve had some of the best breakfast in Orlando.

Anyone who wants a taste of the Southern and Latin American cuisines that make up Florida’s roots has to visit Canvas Restaurant and Market. In addition to the food, they have live music and received the distinction of the best Al Fresco Dining restaurants in America by USA Today. The bright yellow colors inside, stained glass cabin outside, and gorgeous waterfront view that comes right up to the windows make this a dining experience to write home about. Visitors simply must try the crispy bacon hash skillet, chilaquiles, or Canvas Benedict.

By opening at 8 a.m. daily, the Hash House a Go Go is one of the few eateries that can claim to have the best breakfast in Orlando during actual breakfast hours. They focus on classic recipes with modern twists, and for anyone who gets a really late start to the day, the eatery serves brunch at all hours. Some of their most popular options include Andy's Sage Fried Chicken, Margie's Famous Crab Cake Benedict, and -- of course -- biscuits and sausage gravy. The neon lighting, vintage décor, and antique tractors inside are just frosting on the cake.

The fancy seating, extravagant lighting and private areas fit for a CEO all scream luxury at Shula’s 347 Grill. This eatery is open very early throughout the week, but guests need to show up on Sunday if they’re trying to find the best breakfast in Orlando. This is when guests have access to the brunch menu, and it includes the blackened shrimp & polenta, steak & eggs, 347 Breakfast Sandwich, and smoked salmon panini. Football fans will also like that the eatery got its name from Coach Don Shula and his 347 winning games.

The wood-grill oven, rustic stone and wood flooring, gas chandeliers, and vintage lighting all combine to create a relaxing ambiance at Slate. Those who want to try some of the best breakfast in Orlando, though, will need to come enjoy that ambiance on either Saturday or Sunday. It's then that brunch offerings such as duck confit hash & eggs, Slate Eggs Benedict, biscuits & gravy, and the breakfast burrito are all offered. Patrons should also enjoy the exquisite landscaping while they’re around -- it’s pretty impressive.

Located at the Market at Mills Park, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill brands itself as both a steakhouse and American restaurant. If anyone is looking for a brunch menu, though, this eatery is one of the few that doesn’t offer one. Of course, this doesn’t mean it’s impossible to find the best breakfast in Orlando here. They’re open relatively early in the day and offer options like the turkey club, shrimp tacos, fresh fruit, and lobster spinach queso. It might not be the traditional breakfast, but it’s one heck of a way to get the day started.
