Food was excellent, but we made a reservation for standard seating and were told there was no standard seating available when we arrived. As such, we were placed in the lounge section where there was a group of six women screeching as loud as they could all night and were clearly over served alcohol, especially in the context of a restaurant.

Our Saturday early evening dinner was calm, generally quiet, and excellent overall. The Linguine With Tiger Shrimp and Pan-Roasted Herb Crusted Salmon were simmering with just enough flavor to coax us into finishing our meals without a second thought. I absolutely enjoyed the Gravelly Ford ’20 Cabernet Sauvignon, which our food server recommended. Definitely plan to visit here in the future.

Drinks and food were wonderful. I had the Euphorie cocktail and my husband had an old fashioned. Both were excellent. We had the mushroom ravioli and foie grois with “creme brûlée”. Both were delicious. Entrees were beef bourginon, duck breast with wild berries, scallops and lobster, and chicken breast with Brie. All were fantastic and the presentation was excellent. We finished with chocolate mousse, creme brûlée, napoleon, and Chambord soufflé. The soufflé and mousse were the best. Service was superb, from wine recommendations to attentiveness. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back.

My wife and I went there for our anniversary and it was perfect. There is plenty of good food in Banff but if you want fine dinning, go to Eden. From the moment you check in to the desert, you know you are at a very nice restaurant. My wife recently developed a food allergy and I simply cannot explain the level of effort that the staff and the chef made to accommodate. You felt as if you were the only people in the room and the staff was plesantly friendly and warm. We ended up laughing and staying much later than expected due to the wonderful staff. I would absolutely go back in the future and I highly recommend the food, staff and overall experience.

I had dinner at your café a few weeks ago with a friend, and I loved the Chicken Tawouk so much... I came back with a different person and praised the chicken ... Unfortunately, this time around the chicken was dry instead of tender and juicy. I was disappointed. Did you change the chef? I loved the service. Bridget was efficient, friendly, professional, and informative. There was also a server, who was wonderful. He brought our meals and explained everything perfectly. I loved the ambiance. I loved the Grape leaves and the Muhamarrah. I loved the bread. The Cod was excellent. Having the Harrissa on the side was a great idea. We are not familiar with the bread being charged, but it was delicious. Thank you! Magda

Was a fantastic Sunday brunch at The Gates. I had not been back in several years due to moving out to the west coast. The eggs bennidict “a la minute” being served fresh to the table was a great value add and improvement. Our server Kade was kind and friendly and Emily was lovely to speak to as well. She heard my dining companions plan to sub the ham on eggs Benny for smoked salmon and offered to have the kitchen do it and add some spinach and onion as well! We were stuffed when we left and didn’t eat for the rest of the day. It was great to come home to The Gates once again.

This is much more than just going out for dinner - it's a whole journey. The food is fabulous (only one course we didn't care for), and the pairings are phenomenal. We were happy to see non-alcoholic options, and they were by far the most exquisite mocktails we've ever had. The staff is such a well-oiled machine, and the whole evening is an awesome experience of food, drink, and service. Expect to be there for at least 3 hours!

A delightful and historic fine dining experience befitting the community and the cuisine. We stood attention for The Drill and let the Chef captain our culinary corvette on a creative four-course journey. By the time the mainsails were set, we were already full yet eager to try the next delectable surprise dishes. Blaze was our first mate and ensured we were well taken care of and appropriately lubricated for our gastronomical adventure. We come here every year following a visit to the Shaw Theatre and the restaurant never disappoints. The service is very professional and the food tasty and well presented. The price points are reasonable, a wide choice of great wines and a limited number of beers but nevertheless a selection that suits my taste in beers. I recommend the Dunkel lager. We did find the chairs a bit uncomfortable as the cushions are soft and the frame of the chair tends to bite into one thighs! Maybe just the chair I sat on.

We went out for our wedding anniversary dinner. We had checked the menu online beforehand and thought we might order the Chateaubriand for two. Unfortunately they were sold out of it . However our second choices made us forget about that little setback. I had the filet and my husband the strip loin . Both steaks were tender, juicy, flavourful and cooked to a perfect medium rare. Sides of aioli potatoes and mushrooms were delicious complements to the meat. The Caesar salad came topped with its own little anchovy, very tasty. Our server Adam was very pleasant , professional and adept at decanting a lovely bottle of wine. We were too full for desert, but not too full to enjoy a lovely trio of macarons from the house wishing us a happy anniversary. Thanks very much E18hteen , you made a special occasion very special.

This was our first time eating here and we were pleasantly surprised at the calm atmosphere, efficient service, and impeccable flavours. It was my husbands birthday and came out with a free desert at the end, without me even asking. They accidentally throughout his leftovers and were quick to whip up a new order to resolve the issue. Service was very prompt, and I can confidently say this is my new favourite Italian restaurant in all of Edmonton. Excellent portion size and exquisite flavours.
