This is a beautiful restaurant. The rolls (sushi) that we had were excellent. Udon soup portion was enormous. The lobster noodle dish was also very generous. We had thought the soup and lobster noodle dish were appetizers but they could have been main courses. Cocktails are expensive but gorgeous.

Had a great New Year's Day 1:00 p.m. brunch with a couple each of Benedict's and corned beef hashes. The only thing weird was the bloody Mary which seemed like it was just made with vegetable juice, vodka, and lacked flavor. Fabulous dining experience from arrival to departure. Began the evening in this iconic Julia Morgan designed dining room with refreshing cocktails. Shared a beautiful cheese & pate platter with lightly toasted miniature bread bites. Entrees were delicious…short ribs were superb and a duck entree had one of our guests raving about this selection. Loved out server, Natalie, too. Super kind and attentive. It’s always wonderful to stroll thru the Berkeley City Club following dinner. This historic Julia Morgan designed landmark is an absolute treasure. So happy to have a place like Julia’s Restaurant to share with visitor’s and friends. Thank you to the wonderful employees! Our server was Ashley. She has been my server multiple times before. Her service is 10 stars, every single time. Urban putt has two chefs on site, one is a former chef at a Michelin star restaurant. Their food is evidence of that. I live very close to urban putt and dine there frequently with my nine year old daughter. I absolutely love their tacos, my roommate loves their chicken wings, and my daughter loves their chicken tenders and sliders. There is no cocktail on the menu that isn’t worth trying. This is a Hidden neighborhood gem, and the restaurant is an even better kept secret. Highly recommend.

Parking was SUPER easy since there is a clean, safe, secure garage attached to the restaurant so little worry of break ins while dining. Maybe the best sushi and rolls in the Bay Area, definitely best in SF. Hot appetizers were good but nothing extraordinary. Very reasonable $$ for the quality of food and service. Will go more routinely even for takeout bc parking is so easy/convenient.

I made a 7:30pm reservation for myself and a friend to hear Loretta Gooden and the San Francisco sextet. The music was great! Loved the ambiance of this club too. We went primarily to hear the music but I also needed to eat. I ordered the black cod with rice and it was very good. Limited selection of wine and my glass of Albariño was ok. I also had a glass of the one cider on the menu and that was good: cold,crisp and dry. Good selection of cocktails and beers. Our server Frankie was very pleasant. There was one snafu where another server brought my food to the table next to ours but as they realized it was not something they ordered they didn’t touch it and Frankie delivered it to me. Service was very prompt too so I had plenty of time to eat and we ended up deciding to move to the bar area 10 or 15 minutes before our 1.5 hours at the table was up.

There's an ebb and flow in any workplace. I felt the energy was a little low last night during our visit at The Matheson. Perhaps it's indicative of the season. Fall is here. It's harvest time. The weight of the work, the direction of the economy, the challenge of being always better may be a factor in my feeling that last night was a 4 and not a 5. Still, a wonderful experience, at a wonderful restaurant, in a wonderful town. My suggestion to the kitchen is to look at what has always been done, the way it is supposed to be, and challenge yourselves on what provides The Matheson X factor. Sometimes too much is too much. Simple is often sweet. Spices and sauces should be comforting with southern cooking, not rich and troubling on the tummy. My 2 cents.

We have had New Year''s brunch at Hoku''s before. The food is excellent and they provided a wide selection of food for us to eat. A must is ozone and sashimi for the new year. We really enjoyed the eggs benedict, crab legs, lobster and prime beef. We were full by the time dessert was served, but somehow found room for the red cherry cake, butter mochi and bread pudding. My husband says, “Simply put, this is the very best meal I have had in the last 2+ years. It may be the very best meal I have ever had. We were lucky enough to get reservations here on our honeymoon and after eating here, I don't know how we are supposed to enjoy any other food on the island. Chef Lee provided so many smooth transitions between American, Korean, Japanese, Thai And Chinese cuisines and did so seamlessly. The textures were outrageous and the staff brought the meal to another level. I can see a Michellin star in their future and wouldn't be surprised to hear that Chef Lee is a James Beard finalist or recipient in the future. The next time I am fortunate enough to eat here, I expect that the secret will be out and his kitchen staff will have quadrupled to keep up with demand. I remain incredibly satisfied with everything presented tonight. Outrageous and outstanding still don't fully award the experience of our meal this evening. This is my new, Last Meal. Thank you to Pai chefs, servers, bar tenders and everyone between.”

Been here 3-4 times and have always been happy with the experience. This time it was just my wife and I and we had a quiet dinner. The view is great as you are on the 30th floor and can see ocean and city in a panoramic setting. We shared a loup de mer fish which was grilled prepared in a delicious sauce with clams. We had garlic rice, broccolini, and mushrooms on the side. Our server (Danielle) was excellent and made the meal all the better since we didn't have to wait or ask for anything and she was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided great service. All in all it was a good night out and we will continue to come here in the future.

We had a wonderful and relaxed dinner on Jan 1st after a few days of crazy work. Our waiter Alek provided us with polished, friendly and unhurried service which allowed us to decompress and enjoy our cocktails and dinner. The food was incredible as always, fresh, creative and a perfect blend of flavours complemented the main protein of the dish. My partner and I are in NOLA for a vacation and we couldn’t have asked for a better date night!! The food was amazing and they were very considerate of his shellfish, and when we didn’t get dessert they brought out a cute lil chocolate box and homemade ice cream sandwiches so that we didn’t leave without having the full experience. Erika and our other waiter (I forgot his name but he was AMAZING and his vast experience showed, were incredible. Will definitely be back on our next trip!

We went to Brennans for a New Years dinner as well as a late celebratory dinner for my 2 year olds birthday dinner. I had a 2 year old, a 6 year old and my spouse present. My children were fairly noisy, and playful and the wait staff were very friendly and helpful as well as brought them cotton candy and treats to the table. I never felt uncomfortable having children present for fine dining, and had a great dinner experience. The traditional cabbage and black eyed pea single bite appetizer spoons were delicious, even my 6 year old loved it. My waitress was a sweet younger woman originally from New England, She wore glasses and I hate that I can’t remember her name, but she was very soft spoken and sweet and made the experience much more enjoyable. We will be back to try the 2nd quarter menu but this time as an adults only New Orleans vacation.

Celebrating 22nd anniversary of our first date. Toups has been on our “to do” list for a long time. So glad we finally got to try it. We had several appetizers and small plates and shared the rack of elk as a main course.
