The fresh fish substitute was $55 way over our original
Choice. They should have said something
Matt's was great. We went there for my girlfriends birthday and we had a wonderful meal. It did not hurt that it was in the mid seventies here in Seattle in the middle of March.
Great food and a beautiful day to enjoy the food and the view.
Amazing find! This place was recommended to us by a local winery employee. After a short wait we were seated next to the kitchen and enjoyed seeing chef and his team prepare some amazing entrees. We were thoroughly satisfied with ours when they arrived! Kudos to a top notch team for such great service! From start to finish it was awesome! We will be back for sure the next time we are in Seattle!
Food was amazing, so happy with our waiter Jeremy. Great recommendations/suggestions, can’t wait to go back.
What a great place. Seafood stew was amazing and filled with shellfish
Excellent and unique meal choices. Great ambiance and waitress gave great recommendations and service
food was sub par, especially the salmon that was from New Zealand of all places!
Good food but not great, over priced
The Fishwich on the lunch menu is AMAZING! We were in Seattle for a week and visited Matt’s 3x it was so good.
My husband and I haven't been to Matt's for some years. So we were in Seattle and decided to have lunch. As in the past, it WOW'd us! The food, as always, was excellent. We love the fish sandwiches, that always have a delicious aioli and interesting toppings on great bread! The day was sunny and lovely and we had a window table - thank you, Matt's! Our wait-person, Ana, was amazing! She took care of our special requests, was superbly professional, and just darling. Can't wait to go back.
This restaurant is my favorite in Seattle. I go there every time I'm in town and I have never been disappointed by the food, service, or atmosphere. Hands down, go!
Wonderful place. Check it out
Matt’s is a favorite spot for intimate meals. It’s location high above the entrance to Pike Place Market, with post card-worthy view of the famous clock and neon PPM sign, are second to the excellent service and high quality food experience. Always a hit with guests and colleagues, whether locals or visitors. The Rueben on crusty bread, cauliflower curry soup and oysters were all hits. Look forward to the next visit.
Great service, food was good, prices were fair for our delicious lunch. We were there at opening and it was quiet, but as it filled with lunch patrons, it got pretty noisy. We appreciated the view
This was my 4th or 5th visit. I always hit this up when in town on business and it never disappoints.
Fresh flavorful food
Loved the ambiance
Food, waitstaff, and atmosphere were all outstanding. Would strongly recommend and would definitely visit again
Great place of lunch with remarkable service and food. Best view of Pike Place Market
A hidden gem that is now well known during high tourist season. Really does not matter, gets reservations and your good to go. Love to sit at bar, chat up Robbie, the best bartender in Seattle. Check out chalkboard for specials. Always solid and love the soups. Small menu too which offers excellence in foods. Overlooks the market and signs. Peek a boo of sunsets. This is one of our favorite places to dine.
We loved the rustic room/setting with the open kitchen. One gets tired of pretentious white table cloth dining. And the food was excellent... a dynamite sauce in the seafood stew that had tons fresh fish and shell fish. The scallops on lentils with the beef ragu was excellent. We had the chef's pick assorted fresh oysters and salmon cheeks that melted like butter in your mouth. All with amazing service. This was our first time here and we look forward to coming back on our next trip to Seattle.
Meh. Nothing special. Service was mediocre. SUPER LONG WAIT for our food & the server got our order wrong... Will not come back.
Loved this place. Kind of smaller portions but very unique and great atmosphere.
We made a reservation for 1:30PM which was great as the lunch rush had passed. We shared several plates and finished with a delicious dessert.
Truly one of the most memorable parts of our trip. The food, staff and ambiance are absolutely worth every penny. my boyfriend literally couldn't even describe the meal he was so blown away (he is a HUGE Foodie). I couldn't appreciate the gentleman more who refused to let us have the table in the middle of the restaurant because he said we "deserved a better view". It was so beautiful and not something I will ever forget.
Amazing food... simply amazing. Great location and ambiance.
Very accomodating and found us a great table. Great food as usual on our annual business trip. Chorizo and black bean soup is a great side. Miss the pulled pork burger tho.
If you are vegetarian, you have to order off the menu. But what a meal! It was delicious: Charred greens, falafel in tahini sauce, fava beans, and two pieces of toast with a delicious spread on top.
Always enjoy going to Matt's - food and service are consistently good!
Had a great time. Food was delicious and service was fantastic! Will return.
Service was great - menu was goof, a bit limited for lunch (not everybody needs a sandwich at lunch). Food was uneven - an amazing dish of clams and mussels in a Tunisian sauce with croutons, and a mediocre tuna sandwich - even with outstanding St. Jude's tuna. The fishwich sandwich was also a disappointment - fairly mediocre, and the fish was not very tasty. The falafel plate was good, but too heavy on their kind of heavy falafels, and not enough of the lebneh and baba ganoush - and a dash of hummous or tahini sauce would have been good - something to help with the dryness of the falfels. The flat bread was outstanding on this dish!
Overall, because of the service, the ambiance, the celebratory mood we were in - a good time was had by all, but I'm not sure I would go back or recommend.
Also - the wine list pricing was a bit out of control - they had low end wines at high end prices, and nothing below $55 a bottle, which is a bit high for lunch time - there are plenty of places with good wine options for $35 or $40 for bottles. And even in the under $80 category, the pickings were slim and not that desirable. And their mark-ups were clearly out of bounds. I would recommend bringing a good bottle and paying the $25.00 corkage fee - you would definitely be better off going that way.
The squid ink tagliatelle special was the best pasta I've ever had - velvety pasta, just the right amount of heat in the sauce and perfect calamari. Drinks were creative and delicious. Great ambiance.
Food was much more sophisticated than the ambiance suggested. Steamed mussels and clams in Thai broth fantastic
Great food and good portion. Very fresh tasting. The place is in an old historic setting with high ceiling, so it is a bit noisy as sounds carry through.
We’d been looking forward to visiting and have to say it was mistly a disappointment. The oysters on the half shell were mostly okay but two of the six were mushy and unpleasant. The brussels sprouts were the standout dish. Delicious. They were out of sturgeon so topped the salad with what was called salmon shoulder. It was unattractive and a bad combination. The steak was ordinary. Our bread never came. The brown butter ice cream was only partially set. Service was inattentive. Not what we hoped or expected.
Expensive and delivers on promise. Outstanding food, excellent service, nice pacing. Seafood stew is one of the best entrees I have ever eaten in a restaurant.
Matt’s in the Market couldn’t have cultivated a better Seattle dining experience. From the ease of the staff to the richness of each bite, it couldn’t have been more enjoyable.
Matt was a fantastic server.
We had a table by the window and met some friends that were in town from Michigan. Perfect Seattle setting for lunch and great food. Loved it!
We visited for lunch when we were in Pike Place Market. The greeting, service and food were wonderful. The view is awesome (of course). We are looking forward to coming back for a dinner experience next time we are in town.
