Maximo Bistrot is an intimate restaurant in the Roma area that provides guests with Mexican, French and European cuisine. The cozy dining room features dim lighting along with a combination of table and booth seating and large beautiful windows. Maximo Bistrot also provides customers the option of dining indoors or outside on the beautiful street side patio.
The menu offers provide a wide array of options. Menu items include lobster pasta with calamari ink, asparagus with poached egg and hollandaise sauce, ceviche with stone crab and octopus ceviche. There is also a complete bar menu.
This s my 3rd visit to Maximo Bistrot one of my favorite places in Mexico City.
It was the first time that chef Eduardo García was not there, as he used to prepare every dish that left the kitchen, and it was noticeable, food was good but lacked that extra magic touch that he puts on it.
It was a little disappointing, mostly with the sea food dishes (tostada de cangrejo moro y ceviche de pulpo) they didn’t had the extra punch. Don’t get me wrong food was very good but some dishes lacked the greatness that i know they can have. Maybe first time comers won’t even notice, but this place used to be a one man show in the kitchen, i know that can’t last forever, but that doesn’t mean I won’t miss it.
The food here is just okay. The service was annoying and a bit rude. We initially ordered cocktails, wine, and 4 dishes to share. Our server seemed annoyed that we only ordered 4 items and said 'you did not order much'. I replied, 'yes I understand, we will continue ordering'. He said nothing and grabbed the menus and took them away abruptly. Our dinner was interrupted 6 times by people / children asking for money. They aggressively stood at our table with bowls in our faces asking for money. I realize the restaurant cannot control all of this but they did nothing to take care of their guests. When you are paying this much for a meal, I think it's reasonable to expect a relaxed environment. This was not the case. There are many other better options in CDMX. Skip this one.
Every dish was a delight, I would reccomend the Tortelloni and the Maracuya Merengue - perfectly balanced. Service at first was a little hecktic, maybe because we were sitting in the table closer to the kitchen and we could hear noise from the kitchen and the dining room. Everyone was very kind, specially a serveur from La Paz (loved her energy). Later on our request to be changed to an outside table was attended and the rest of the evening was perfect.
Me encantó.
Amazing flavors & an overall great food experience. Every part of the meal was delicious
My husband and I went for a date and had such a memorable experience. The food was delicious and service was great. We will definitely come back when we travel to Mexico City in the future.
Amazing. One of our best meals ever in Mexico City. Highly recommended. My wife liked it better than Pujol, and I’d say it’s way up there.
Maximo was a great experience. Small place, few tables but you can see they take care of every detail. Tasting menu was good a bit pricey though.
We have always depended on maximo bistrot for an excellent meal. This time it was just disappointing. The proportions have been so reduced they are now bite sized - something that works well for their degustation menu, but not when you are ordering a la carte. The service was also lacking in both attentiveness and energy.
We were very sad to see this downhill slide as this restaurant has always been our go to for a fine meal in a casual setting.
Second time here...service was very rushed... You could tell that the waiter had been encouraged to try to move customers through quickly. A couple of times they brought drinks or plates separately, so one of us had to sit there waiting for the other's dish/drink to arrive...definitely not fine service. It all felt rushed. Also I don't like tight seating layouts in fine dining. I dislike intensely when there some table right next to you listening to your conversation. Frankly I couldn't wait to leave so we could talk in comfort without the neighbors listening and the waiter bursting in our our conversations.
Bien.
On our way to the restaurant, after acknowledging that the traffic was heavier than usual and we were definitely going to be late, the number to reach Maximo Bistrot was currently inactive due to a fallen tree branch on a nearby telephone line. So, without being able to properly communicate to the restaurant, our reservation was given up. We had arrived at 8PM, they had apologized and brought us to their upstairs bar for a cocktail while we waited for a new table. We were seated shortly after placing a drink order.
We sat on the outdoor patio. Overall dining experience was good. Food was very good. I’d highly recommend this restaurant.
Maravillosa experiencia.
Me encantó!!
Love this place! By far the best restaurant in Mxo Cty! Never disappoints! The seafood is fresh and delicious! Veggies are best of the season always! Desserts and cheese plate are exquisite!
I see why people go here! The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. It will not disappoint. Tuna sashimi and the rhubarb dessert were the stars.
We loved the food. The tasting menu was well balanced, imaginative, at times comfortingly familiar but with a twist (cebolla gratinada), at times exiting (soft-shell crab with mole verde and pilpil), but always tasty. Serving was a bit hurried. There was little time to savor the first dish when they brought the next.
Staff did not know their wines. The description provided was poor and biased. The markup was terrifying: $75 for a $15 bottle. Next time we will bring our own.
The place is pleasant enough but with a steady stream of traffic too near for comfort. The overall experience was good. The best part was undoubtedly the food.
Great food, worth the money
We always enjoy dining at Maximo’s. We took an outside table in the corner. The wooden chairs and benches could be improved with some cushions as they were pretty uncomfortable. Otherwise our meal was excellent and service was great.
Fabulous meal! This was one of the best lunches I have had in ages. The flavors were amazing, and the service was outstanding. The staff members were all very attentive, but in a laid back and fun way. I liked the vibe of the place--simple, casual, and unfussy, but the food and drinks were top notch. I've been to 15 of the restaurants on the current Latin American Top 50, and this was, by far, my favorite. It truly outshines all of the others I've tried.
Amazing food and wine in a beautiful location in Roma
Service was excellent, dinner was exquisite. Highly recommend.
The chef's tasting was delicious and spectacular. Great service!
We have been here before about two years ago. We had an amazing experience then. This time we did the tasting menu and wine pairing. We asked about the menu and was told it is a surprise (however the table next to us they shared what it was when they asked later and they were able to change around some items). We said we will try a surprise, but my husband is allergic to beans of any kind. The second course was a bean tortilla with beans so we had to ask them to take it back. He said I thought you were kidding. We said we will try the menu but he can’t have beans if any kind due to an allergy how can that be kidding? With each course you expect the wine to come out relatively at the same time. Not this time, it was always late, in fact one dish we waited five minutes and then started to eat so it wouldn’t get cold and after we were done we got the wine. The service used to be great. The bass was way over cooked. The duck was the highlight of the meal and excellent along with the Mezcal sorbet. We went for lunch and it was the price of having lunch in NYC at over $250. It wasn’t worth it. Won’t be going back on our next visit to Mexico City.
My sister’s first trip to CDMX, I wanted only the best dining experience for her. This was it! Perfect absolute perfect!
