It was our 34th wedding anniversary, and we honestly didn’t want to cook dinner. I have a broken leg; from a ski injury, and we wanted to relax and have a good meal. The table was great for my injured leg,the waitress was phenomenal and gracious. The steaks, and hours devours were fresh, and mix drinks refreshing.Table wine from Castoro was yummy with meal also. And to end it- the beautiful pink Champagne cake topped it off. We are local, and been coming here all of our lives to stay and play and eat and celebrate with our family and friends. Thanks for a wonderful evening. Angela and Joshua Lyman Los Osos, CA

Our waitress and the food was great. However, when we arrived we asked if we could sit in a booth because we were cold. We were told that all booths were for bigger parties. The hostess was very unfriendly and made it clear we were putting her out. If the restaurant was full, I might just have figured she was overwhelmed by a crowd. However, there were very few diners in the cafe, and all the occupied booths had only two or three people. We asked again as we were escorted through the empty restaurant with a table set for 5 people and saw all the empty booths. The hostess rudely told us no again and that at least we could look out the window. Remember, we asked to sot somewhere warm and being seated in front of a huge window defeated that purpose. The restaurant only seated one or two other parties while we were there. I believe the hostess on duty should be trained to be polite and treat customers with respect. It was a horrible way for us to start our experience. We only travel to the Central Coast once per year and look forward to friendly service from the staff at The Madonna Inn. Very disappointed.

Dinner out with our CP student and his friends. This was our first time at Bear & The Wren, but we had heard good things. Great environment for visiting and catching up with everyone. We ordered a variety of pizzas -- all tasty and unique. The service was terrific. Only patio dining was available, but outdoor heaters kept us plenty warm.

Discover California Central Coast

The California Central Coast is home to beautiful beaches, and it is also a major source of fresh seafood for local restaurants. Enjoy a locally caught Cajun-style Albacore tuna steak, panko-crusted and topped with wasabi coleslaw and sliced avocado. Elsewhere, you may prefer the halibut, which is in season year-round in the area and guaranteed to be fresh. Order it lightly cooked in lemon and butter, sauteed in wine, butter, garlic, and capers and served over pasta or with potatoes. The coast has more than seafood, as residents and visitors can relish a California beet salad made with sliced beets over butter lettuce and liberally sprinkled goat cheese dressed with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
