This was our first time at Bookbinders, and certainly won't be our last! We loved everything about this restaurant. Great ambience, we sat inside because we didn't know if it would be too hot to eat outside, but I will sit outside next time, because I loved the vibe of the outside area. The inside was very nice too, so not disappointed there. The food was excellent!! Steaks were so well seasoned, soft and cooked perfectly. The crabcakes were yummy made with just enough filler to keep it together. My husband said the turtle soup was good, not great, but all the sides we had were excellent. The lobster mac and cheese and the creamed spinach were the biggest hits. We had calamari for an appetizer and they were great...no leg pieces which was a plus for me, and the dipping sauce was wonderful. Big and great wine list and nice speciality cocktails and a huge bourbon list. We were so full from dinner that we skipped dessert, but there were definitely ones we would have gone for if room in our stomachs allowed. The food is definitely pricey, but the portions and quality make it worth the price you're paying. Service was a teeny bit slow but it was Father's Day so the place was pretty crowded. If your our looking for a special occasion place or date night, we'd definitely recommend Bookbinders. Oh, and parking was easy! We had no trouble parking in the lot right across from the restaurant and it was free.

Father’s Day. We enjoyed the ambiance and the meal. We would have loved to sat by the window for the great view but were told that the table was sold. The food presentation and taste was very good. our server had a slight hearing problem but his service was great.

Overall experience was great. The ambience was fantastic. Not sure about the pricing seems to be excessive especially for the lump crab (enhancement) more like $8.00 to $10.00 considering the portion control.

Discover Virginia

Virginia is known for more than just delicious southern cooking; they have their own style! If you are a ham lover, look out for Virginia ham — also known as Smithfield ham. It is only legal to produce in one place in the world, Smithfield, Virginia. Virginian cuisine also includes a variety of BBQ that range from all vinegar to a vinegar-based sweetness. A hearty Brunswick stew is another mainstay of Virginia. Originally using an Appalachian flying squirrel, it now uses a variety of meats braised in this vegetable stew. Traditional Virginian apple cider and apple butter, made from Wineapples, is a real treat. Another delicacy is any seafood that is cooked with Old Bay, originally formulated with spices from a specific region of the state, the Chesapeake Bay.
