Montauk is fresh fish in the mountains. But there is also great beef and other meats. The fish is offered as prepared dishes with sauces and sides or as simple grilled fish with sides. The wine list is extensive with wine for all tastes and price points. Montauk Seafood Grill has been a fixture in Lionshead, Vail for over 30 years and the quality has been high and consistent.

We were seated in the bar area (although the restaurant was not crowded) right next to a large party with adults and kids. Thankfully they left after about 20 minutes. The bar also seem to be a gathering place for staff as we were trying to eat, which made our experience a little less enjoyable. On the plus side, the food was excellent (except for the bread pudding - nothing special) and the entree portions were generous. The service was excellent. This is a pretty pricey place, so save it for a special night.

Had a GREAT meal back in March (thanks, Chelsea), and just had to come back there with our son and his girls. They loved the King Crab Legs. They weren’t inexpensive, but the girls devoured every bite. Thanks again, Chelsea, for a wonderful dining experience

Always has been our favorite restaurant in Vail! Saw Rob the Mgr greatest us as if we'd been coming every day even though it had been three years. Wait staff and Bar were great and Hakibut was fabulous. Be back as soon as we can in a week or two!

All of our entrees were seafood. The seafood cakes were outstanding, had a little heat bit not too much. Scottish salmon was excellent. Cabbage slaw was perfect. Halibut was great. Had Generous portions and we ate it all!! Ice cream cake for desert was shared by 3 people.

Montauk is consistently very good. We have eaten here several times winter and summer, trying many dishes. The food is excellent as is the service. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass and interesting cocktails. They offer seating outside in warmer months.

We had an amazing time at the Montauk Seafood Grill, the food was fantastic and the wait staff was wonderful. This place is so cute and was the best meal we’ve had in Vail. I recommend the East Coast oysters, the scallop primavera, the fresh baked bread and their raspberry cheesecake was delicious.

Our meals were generally pretty good, with one complaint. My wife ordered seared tuna, a favorite of her that she orders out often and knows well. The tuna slices were thick (no problem), but she felt they were too cold inside, as if the had been taken out of a very cold refrigerator, slapped on the grill, turned, and served. She is accustomed to the inner meat being more in the range of room temperature. She said something to the waiter, and he immediately offered to take it back and bring a new serving. Very good! Then another employee came over to explain to me wife what seared tuna is so that she would understand that it is supposed to be cold inside. Very insulting! When I mentioned that to the waiter, that employee did come over to apologize. The new seared tuna arrived. It was exactly the same as the previous one, but we did not complain. The restaurant is in Vail, so you expect high prices. Just so people are aware, ordering a chardonnay by the glass, the cheapest option was $21, and that was not a generous pour.

The server to told us the chef does not like to make substitutions, so take it or leave it. If there is something on the entree that you cannot eat, you can order a la carte at a significant cost. We ordered a la carte and the food was very good. A 3% fee is added for kitchen staff. They should be the ones getting the 20% as all the server did was take our order and others delivered it

This was our first visit back to Montauk in 6 years, and it is under new ownership with some menu classics and some new items. It was quieter and more relaxed in the summer than in the winter. We started with a order of mussels which was enough to share. As entrees, my husband had grilled halibut with sides of baby vegetables and ginger slaw, and I had pan fried halibut served on top of buttermilk mashed potatoes with a lemon beurre blanc sauce with a salad of sping greens. The food and service were outstanding. I would highly recommend.
