My wife and I had a great meal at Plaka. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful on the inside when you walk in your greeted to a bakery with a lot of options for dessert or for carry out. The restaurant itself has a very hip Mediterranean vibe. We were seated quickly and greeted by a waiter within a few minutes. We started off with an Olympic Flame cocktail and the charbroiled octopus on top of a dip spread with red onions and capers. It was a very generous portion and very tasty. The char grilled bread was nice touch but slightly overdone, but Nick, our waiter got us some more bread that was to our liking. We shared a reasonably priced bottle of Malagousia wine, which I highly recommend you try rather than the traditional Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio that you might with lighter fare at other restaurants. For dinner, we shared a Lavraki (a Greek fish like a sea bass) that was nicely cooked along with a side of ‘Horta’ a sort of Greek green like an endive quickly braised with olive oil. The meal was very very good but here’s our only complaint there was not enough ‘Ladolemono’ (oil, lemon, spice sauce) on the fish for us, but Nick, our waiter remedy that for us quickly. Dessert was great and surprising that it was actually a lot more affordable than the usual $10-$15 dessert plates you’ll find at a typical high-end restaurant since the bakery is next-door. We loved the portocalopita (orange flavored pastry) for its not too sweet syrup with a hint of candied orange notes. We would not hesitate to return, as our meal was very good. Just remember to ask for extra ‘Ladolemono’ sauce if you get a fish or octopus! And stay for dessert.

We had an excellent meal at Marta. My husband and I split the tuna cannoli appetizer and the strawberry panna cotta for dessert. They were both excellent as were our main courses of scallops and pasta with lobster and sea urchin. My husband said the the scallops were the best entree he could remember eating. Service was excellent--attentive without being obtrusive. The tables are a little close for my taste, but the restaurant is small and they are maximizing their space. Being small and tightly packed with brick walls, it is noisy. That was the only detracting feature from a great meal.

Here’s what I will say overall the meal was great - great variety, outstanding service, cool vibe to the place - we also went on Valentine’s Day so there needs to be some grace for that fact. Probably one of the busiest days of the year and they did a good job executing the plan. Gunther & Co were running a set menu which is no issue. First two courses were good. Wagyu steak tips came out well cooked and seasoned but cold one piece almost felt chilled - not ideal - desert course was super average - cheesecake was dried and almost hardened. Parking is a tough around there. I will go back I am being knit picky but I did enjoy the dinner.
