Discover Vondelpark

Named after the 17th-century playwright and poet Joost van den Vondel, this public park covers 120 acres in the Amsterdam-Zuid part of the city. Originally opened in 1865, the park now has around 10 million visitors each year, and features an open-air theatre, playground, and several horeca facilities, there are ample opportunities for picnics and other al fresco dining scenarios. On the refined side, indulge in some of the city’s best seafood, upscale European cuisine, or go expat with a classic American steakhouse experience. For something more casual, grab a sandwich, a bagel with smear, or a coffee and find a place in the park to call your own.
